He hugged her and held her head close to his chest. He whispered sweet things into Laura’s ear and assured her she has got his back.
Later Nicodemus came out of his room. He was annoyed when he saw his brother and Laura in that lovable manner. He punched the wall and went straight into his car. He couldn’t bear the sight of the two lovers. He was filled with hatr.ed and obsession. It was obvious nothing would change his brother’s mind about Laura. He loved her way too much.
He frowned his face and drove himself to a bar. There he would have a hard drink and drown away his sorrows.
“I am a cheap loser.”
He soliloquized.
Louis and Laura on the other hand couldn’t stop staring at each other. It felt like it was the first time they had met. It was their love against the whole world.
Laura took Louis’s mouth in hers and munched on his lips for some minutes. Louis smiled and cupped her boo.bs with his palms.
Laura’s eyes were filled with desire when Louis did that but she knew better than to let her emotions control her at that moment.
Most especially with what she had overheard Nicodemus said at the door.
She spoke.
“I need to go now. It’s getting dark outside.”
“Don’t go yet.”
Louis held her hands.
“Why?”
“Nothing. Let’s go together.”

Laura and Louis went into the car. Louis drove and soon they were at Laura’s place.
He decided to use the opportunity to get to know Laura’s nanny. The way Laura spoke about her and held her in high esteem made him eager to see her.
When Laura’s nanny heard footsteps in the parlor she came out of her room to welcome Laura.
She was worried at first when
Time had run out, yet Laura had not returned home.
After so many thoughts she concluded Laura must have gone out with Louis.
She had instructed the gateman to beep her when Laura comes in. She was exhausted.
Louis’s smile was welcoming. He greeted Laura’s nanny and Laura introduced him to her.

“That’s awesome son. I am glad to have you here. Please wait let me go and get you food from the kitchen.”
“Ooh don’t bother ma’am. I will be visiting another day. I just didn’t want Laura to go home alone.

“I still insist you eat something dear. “
“Alright, ma’am but I can’t eat much.”
“It’s okay dear I wouldn’t serve you much.”
Laura’s nanny smiled and went into the kitchen.
She served Louis a plate of plantain and fried egg. It was little because Louis had requested so.
After Louis was done eating Laura saw him off and after she went into the kitchen to serve her portion.
She wanted to tell her nanny what had happened but she observed her nanny was tired and already yawning.
“Maybe tomorrow.”
She soliloquized.
Laura entered Into her room after she was through with the meal and reminisced on what had happened.
Louis’s action totally set her on the edge. It wasn’t what she had imagined especially with what Nicodemus had said to him.
She wondered if Louis was pretending or being real.
She knew Louis loved her so much but the way he handled the situation was way too mature beyond her understanding.
Nevertheless, she decided not to bother herself with too many thoughts or questions but enjoy the comfort of a man who loved and trusted her with his whole being. Such love was rare and she was willing to give it what it takes to sustain it.
However, she knew how difficult Nicodemus could be when he wanted something. The mere thought of that made her develop cold feet the next moment.
