Louis who couldn’t believe his ears looked at Laura with a puzzled face.
“If I hear you clearly right now, you mean to say you and Nicodemus dated on campus?”

Louis stood up and left Laura’s presence in anger.
He went into his car and drove home.

She went into her car and decided to drive to Louis’s house. For Louis to have sped off like that, she was certain Nicodemus wasn’t at work but at home.
When Louis arrived home he went straight to Nicodemus’s room.
Nicodemus had not gone to work because he was on a leave. With viciousness in his eyes, he looked into his brother’s eyeballs and asked him “why”?
Nicodemus who was confused by Louis’s question looked at him with a puzzled face and spoke.
“Why what?”
“Why didn’t you tell me anything about Laura?”
“Look bro I have no idea what you are trying to talk about. I think you should go and get a shower.
Today’s hectic work must have made you paranoid.”
Louis shook his head and spoke.
“Quit pretending like you don’t know what I am trying to say cos you do. What was your aim for not making me aware Laura was your ex-lover on campus?”
Nicodemus grinned and clapped his hands.
“Ohh I see. So that sham.eless slu!t has finally opened up. Well, I hope she told you the whole thing that happened between us in full detail?”

Louis’s eyeballs were red in anger. He was tempted to punch his brother in the face but he withheld himself.
He closed his eyes like someone meditating and spoke.
“Laura is my woman. I demand some respect for her. Moreover whatever has happened between you and her in the past is none of my business. That’s her past and I have no business with it.”
“Are you sure you don’t? What about if I gist you about the wild nights we had? The days I slipped my hands into her private parts and she begged me for more. Louis shook his head and went out of the room. He was shocked when he met Laura standing by the door eavesdropping on their conversations.
She had entered when she saw the gate was unlocked. Louis had told her earlier over a date that the gate man had traveled to see his sick mother.
Louis and Nicodemus were too engrossed in their arguments to observe that someone had gone in. It was an advantage to Laura because she was able to hear what the two were saying with no obstructions.
Although what she had heard Nicodemus tell Louis made her extremely heartbroken. Her eyelids were laid in tears. Louis held her hands and asked the reason why she had followed him.
Laura spoke in tears.

When he had calmed her down he encouraged her to speak.
Laura nodded her head and spoke.
“I was afraid something bad would happen between the two of you because you left in anger. I wouldn’t forgive myself if two brothers hurt themselves because of me.”
“It’s okay Laura you should trust me enough to handle issues. Whatever happened between you and Nicodemus is In the past. I don’t care about it.”
