🧏 The Woman Who Married A River Prince Episode Three:
I kept watching Kate, hoping she would turn towards me or come back to my bed but she didn’t and at this point, it drawn on me that I was alone; that she had left me to think about what to do about my marriage which was few minutes to come.
Is Frank going to kîll me after we marry? Is there something he’s hiding from me? Should I run away or continue this marriage. My wedding is few minutes from now, what should I do? I thought to myself.
I was still thinking when sleep carried me away and I didn’t know when I laid on my bed and slept off.
When I realized that I had slept off was when I felt a soft tapping on my right lap and a mellow voice that was calling on me: “Grace! Grace! Wake up! It’s 6:00am”
I opened my eyes and saw my mother looking at my face with a sweet, heartfelt smile on her face. I didn’t need a suit sayer to tell me that she is extreme excited that her first daughter is getting married today.
“It’s your wedding day Grace! Wake up!” She said with a soft voice.
I stretched my body and yawned mildly.
“Good morning mom!”
“Good morning my angel” Mom responded with laughter on her lips.
“Get up darling; Your makeup artist and bridesmaids are here. You need to go have your bath now. They are waiting to dress you up” She said.
I got up and sat on my bed, not knowing what to do. My mom looked at my face for a while and said to me: “I know how you’re feeling right now; you’re wondering if you are making the right choice because marriage is a long time journey. I was once like you, so I understand the feeling. I felt that way too, on my wedding day and today, I’m happy that I married your father. Don’t be indecisive; just think about all the reasons that made you want to marry Frank. Let those thoughts fill your heart and you will be fine. Okay?” She told me and rubbed my shoulder gently.
I said “okay” and got out of my bed, to the bathroom. My mother watched me and waited until she was sure I had poured some water on my body, then she went to Kate’s bed and called on her, to also wake up and start preparing herself for it’s her sister’s wedding day. Then she left our room.
When I came out from the bathroom, I saw Kate sitting on her bed and pretending not to have seen me. I knew she was angry that I didn’t call on her to help me run away on my wedding day but I didn’t mind her.
I faced my bed and started dressing up. I was done wearing my undies and was about to wear my bridal shower clothes so as to go to the sittingroom and call on my bridesmaids and makeup artist to come in to our room and properly dress me, when Kate said to me
“Grace, don’t marry Frank please. Call off this wedding; run away!; Do anything you can to stop this wedding today! Please, I beg you”
I turned to her. There was tears in her eyes. My heart beat suddenly in fear.
“You really don’t want me to marry Frank?” I said in a half question and half statement tune.
“If you marry Frank, you will leave your life in fear and sorrow and he will later kîll you and your kids. I saw this in my dream again. I don’t want to see you sad or dead, Grace” Kate said with a voice, so calm and compassionate that almost made me cry.
More fear gripped me. My heart instantly became filled with thoughts and indecision. Should I marry Frank or should I call off this wedding? If I go ahead with this wedding, what will be my fate? Is Kate not just over exaggerating? How can she see my future now? I became drown in deep thoughts
