“He is not breathing!” the nurse told the doctor who removed his stethoscope and placed it on the chest to confirm if really Kilunda was gone
He was already dead even before the doctor entered the ward.The doctor’s and the nurses went into a sombre mood
James was still seated at the wooden bench feeling very confused,he wanted to stay and meet this man his wife called his husband
As soon as the doctor stepped out of the ward he rushed to meet him,the nurse was still inside the room working on the body as it was to be transferred to the morgue
“Excuse me doctor” James told the doctor who seemed to be in a hurry.
“Yes How can I be of help to you sir?” he asked
“I wanted to meet my brother,he was admitted just some few hours ago.He came here with his wife but I have received news that the wife has been arrested” he lied to avoid so many questions
“Ooh you mean the man who was brought here with an injured leg?”
“Yes that one” he agreed but he didn’t know if truly he is the man he was asking for
“Well I am very sorry but the man just passed away some few minutes ago,please keep heart” the doctor said
then paused for some few minutes, “You can go in and see him,this way” he pointed on the direction he was coming from
“Thank you sir but what really happened,how did he die?” James asked pretending to care so much
“He had lost so much blood so we were going on with the blood transfusion but suddenly he was gone,he had even regained consciousness,we will have to wait for the post mortem results to assertain what really happened” he said, ” Anyway let me continue with work,I have something else to do,you can go inside to see his corpse” the doctor added and rushed leaving the man standing as he stared at him
James walked into the room,his heart beating faster,he was curious to know who this man might be but was also scared.Could this man be one of his friends who might have backstabbed him and spelt a curse on his wife?
James knew from the moment he saw Linda that she wasn’t okay at all.Something was really wrong with her but she didn’t know why?
He walked into the room and as soon as the nurse saw him she tried to block him from entering into the ward
“Sir You can’t be here,I am busy cleaning this room” she said while wrapping the body in a white plastic bag
“He is my brother and I wanted to see his body before it was taken,the doctor just told me that he passed away some few minutes ago”
“Ooh I am really sorry for the loss of your brother” the nurse said and unwrapped the plastic bag for him to view the body
James stood some few meters away from the body his eyes focused on the face of the dead man.He had only one mission and the mission was to discover who this man might be
He took a closer look but that was none of his friends that he knew,the face was however familiar.He remembers having seen that face somewhere but doesn’t remember exactly where and when
As you can remember the fast and the last time he met Kilunda was when he and Linda went to meet the man to ask about the pregnancy and that was many years ago
“Nurse can you give me and my bro some few minutes alone?” James asked and waited before the nurse left the room
He took his phone from the pocket and took a picture of Kilunda’s face then stood there for some more minutes as he tried to examine the face again and again
He couldn’t Id anyone but was sure that he had seen this face somewhere.When he was satisfied he left the room.The nurse was still standing next to the door
“Has the bill been cleared?” he asked.He knew this was the only opportunity to get the name of the person
“No the bill for Glen Kilunda hasn’t been cleared,you may clear at the receptionist sir before you leave”
“Okay thank you” he said as he walked into the receptionist.Kilunda was rich and therefore he couldn’t feel the burden of clearing the one hundred thousand hospital bill
He was about to leave when a woman who had covered her face passed next to him.She seemed to be hiding from something or someone but he didn’t care,he finished the payment and left
He had something about this man and where he could start from and that was what he needed mostly.
