Femi apologize to his wife the following morning and they went back to how they used to relate before, Kunbi was grateful to God that happiness was restored to her home again but she couldn’t get over the fact that her husband was keeping something away from her and it was obvious it was eating him up. A week after they reconciled, Kunbi brought up the matter as she wanted him to open up so that they could trash whatever the problem was but Femi ended up shouting at her. It was at this point that Kunbi decided to let him be till he was ready to speak out.
Everything was going on smoothly, the couple were relating well with each other. Kunbi though worried overlook whatever her husband may be hiding and kept praying for him. Not that she was foolish but she dreads having an unhappy home like her parents.
Her parent marriage could be likened to hell on earth as her parent were always fighting and quarreling, it was during one of their numerous fights that her youngest brother received an everlasting scar. Her father beat up her mother that day and in a bid to get back at her husband, She threw a stool at her husband but it landed on Kunbi’s younger brother’s hand thereby cutting two of his fingers. That incident was forever registered in Kunbi’s head which made her vow never to have an unhappy home.
Initially, she never wanted to have anything to do with marriage but after meeting with Christ, she realized that one can have a beautiful marriage and home in Christ. With this realization, she decided to give marriage a chance and God being faithful gave her a great man, Femi.
Kunbi was in the youth section of the church addressing a group of girls when information came to her that the senior pastor needs her presence. She handed over what she was doing to her assistant and then went to the office of the senior pastor. Getting there, she was surprised to see her husband standing before a panel that consists of five elders in the church. Kunbi greeted them registering her presence.
Senior Pastor: Welcome Sister Kunbi, I sent for you because of a delicate but embarrassing issue. You see, I’ve known you to be a virtuous woman unfortunately, your never-satisfied husband has decided to disgrace you.
Kunbi: (surprised) Disgrace? I don’t get you, sir.
Senior Pastor: Your husband impregnated a young lady who newly joined our church in the name of counseling her and the church has decided to relieve him of his duties.
Kunbi: (shocked) No! No! No! This can’t be, Femi can’t do this to me. Femi, is that true? Tell me it’s not true
Elder Caleb: calm down Kunbi
Senior Pastor: Please, put yourself together
Kunbi: Haa, Femi has killed me.
Senior Pastor: As I was saying, Femi is no longer a pastor in this church and in order not to drag the name of this church in the mud, the lady will be moving in with you till she is delivered of her baby. After her delivery, a DNA test would be carried out to ascertain the father of her child.
Kunbi: (weeping profusely) Haaaa, see what I fasted and prayed against. Kai! God, where is your face?
Kunbi walked out of the Senior Pastor’s office a very sad woman, she went to pick up her son and then drove home. As she got into the living room, she looked at her wedding frame which was hung on the wall, and broke it into pieces.
Kunbi went wild with anger, she was heartbroken, and nothing at that moment could stop that feeling. Her four-year-old son was terrified watching his mother destroy things in the house. He had never seen his mom behave in such a way, he sat quietly on the cushion crying and wishing his father would come back home to calm his mother.
Femi on his part couldn’t go home as he didn’t know how to face his wife. He wished he had opened up to her before the issue degenerated to this level, he wanted to handle the situation without bringing his wife into the mess but now, he ended up falling into the pit he never wished to fall into.
