(Slave To The Royals π§)
𧑠EFUA KELECHI’S POV π§‘
I breathe in a sigh as I sink deeply into the tub, letting the water soothe me as I recall the events of yesterday. It seems like time has passed a lot since I was being dragged around with chains on my neck, but truthfully it has only been three days. Three long days.
The training session with Tari.. . Though I wanted a distraction but the memories it brought back were so painful that I couldn’t keep going. I had always wanted to forget him, because he left and never came back.. I had always wanted to hate him for leaving without a word but he wasn’t someone to hate. Lotqnna had asked how I could read footprints.. It was because he taught me. Etim.
Father had found him all battered up in the jungle one day when he went to hunt. Father being the kind man he is took him in and let him stay with us. Etim was just sixteen when we found him and just like he had come, he left three years later without a word. That was a year ago though. I missed him, I have always missed him because he was just like a brother to me.
After I finished taking my bath, I freshened up and picked up my sword.. Even though I wasn’t able to finish the training, at least I picked up a few useful skills.. With time I would learn on my own just like he had taught me to.
With that, I walk out of the room and head to Lotanna’s chambers trying not think of how I would have to face him after what happened yesterday.
In no time, I am at the don’t of his chamber, contemplating whether to open or not.. Luckily for me there are no guards at the door. Maybe I should just enter through the window. I laugh dryly at the thought. I am about to start leaving when I hear the sound of a slap from his room, without thinking I push open the door and rush inside not even waiting to see who is in with him.
“Lotanna!” I call but my eyes widens when I see the person standing before him, by her dressingi know she is a queen, that leaves me almost speechless because this woman here… I cannot be mistaken, isn’t she. “Ihome?” I say as if asking.
Shortly after Etim left, this woman here came to our house almost five times to ask about him. We had no idea who she was because she was always in disguise. And we had no idea why she was looking for Etim. Every time she came she always had this frantic look on her face and pleaded heavily for us to let her know if Etim ever came back. But he did not. He never did.
Ihome turns to me and creases her brow as if trying to remember who I am. She can’t possibly say she does not remember me can she? To even think she is a queen, a queen if Royalie kingdom at that.. Does that make her Lotanna’s mother?
Ihome turns to Lotanna who is just staring at us with a puzzled expression on his face before dragging me out and closing the door behind us. She pulls me with her outside Lotanna’s chambers and she stops when she gets to a secluded place. “You are Osato’s daughter aren’t you?” Is the first thing she asks.
Osato is my mother’s name. I nod in reply. “I am”
“What are you doing here? In my son’s room of all places”
“You did not tell us you were a queen” I say ignoring her question.
She looks around and then back at me. “Well you didn’t.ask, beside you know you shouldn’t be here Efua.. Isn’t that your name?”
“Yes that is my name and you ask why I should be here? Or don’t you know the happenings around your palace?”
She purses her lips together and waits, she then looks at me as if she has just remembered something. “You are the slave maiden.. The one that confronted my husband and put a dagger to my daughter’s throat? It is you?” She asks in disbelief.
“So they say queen Ihome, so they say” I reply her.
“What do you want with my son because I know your intentions of becoming a warrior here isn’t pure.. You and I know that”
“Everyone knows that and they tread lightly around me.. You should do the same.. As for what I want with your son, well I think the question should be what your son wants with me because he literally begged me to be his bodyguard” I say.
“What are you talking about?”
“First off Ihome, I have always wanted to ask you this.. Why did you come for Etim? Why were you looking for him?”
“I owe no one any explanations Efua, and as the queen of this land, you cannot question me.. And you should stay away from my son okay!” She snaps. I only look at her without nodding. She looks so different from the way she looked when she always came to our place. “Plus do not tell him how you know me or anything whatsoever about Etim”
Ihome glares at me one last time before turning in her heels and storming back into the palace. But wait. Why is she angry at me? Why was she emphasizing on me staying away from Lotanna and why doesn’t she want me to tell Lotanna about Etim?
“How do you know my Mother” I turn swiftly at Lotanna’s voice. He is standing behind me arms crossed and looking as dashing as ever.
I gulp. “I do not know her, I only took her for someone else” I lie not because Ihome told me to but because I have a feeling that Lotanma knowing won’t be a good thing.
“You are lying” Lotanna states. I shrug.
“Perhaps”
“Why?” I arch my brow at him.
“Why what?”
“Why are you lying? What are you hiding?”
“Something that doesn’t concern you” I say nonchalantly. “So where am I accompanying you to today?” I ask deliberately changing the topic.
“You aren’t accompanying me today.. Instead I am taking you somewhere”
