(Slave To The Royals π§)
𧑠LOTANNA ROYAL’S POV π§‘
“How did you know for sure?” I ask Efua when we get back to the palace as she hands over the horses to the stablemen. She knows I’m referring to the incident at the waterfall.
“A wild guess?” Efua replies as if asking and I know she is lying. But why?.
“That’s not true, anyone could have been there but you stated it like you were sure besides, only trained warriors knows the motive of a person through the footprints” I remark, watching her closely.
Efua sighs and tugs on a strand of her hair, twisting it. I have actually noticed that Efua does not weave her hair like most maidens, probably because of its peculiar long length. “Am I free to go now Prince Lotanna?” She asks purposely ignoring my statement.
“Do you not know you have to follow me everywhere I go?” I tease letting the discussion go too but that doesn’t mean I won’t still find out. Her fearlessness and bravery can’t be just a peculiar trait, she has either been trained or something close to that.
“I do know that, but you seem to have forgotten that I do not like being bossed around and I do not even need your permission to leave now, I was just being nice” she says all in one breath without mincing words.
I blink staring at her, did she just say all that to me? “You are only being nice? Have you forgotten i played a role in you not getting caught?” I ask saucily.
Efua arches her brow at me. “I did get caught, I only helped myself our of the situation”
I roll my eyes. “Still…. I played a…
“Are you always like that?” She asks cutting me off.
“Like what?”
“Like a day old baby, crying and whining about over meaningless things”
Eh! I blink.. Again. She did not just compare me to a… Oh fvck! This girl’s mouth has no bound. I open my mouth to speak but she waves her fingers at me.
“No more words Prince Lotanna, I will surely have a sassy reply for you. Now shall we leave?”
I gulp and find myself nodding. Is it an hobby of hers to always leave me speechless?!
𧑠EFUA KELECHI’S π§‘
I try to hide my grin as I follow Lotanna, mentally patting myself for shutting him up even though I could literally hear the fast pounding of my heart because of how close he was to me.
I know. I’m going insane right? I mean of all people, I shouldn’t feel this for him. Lotanna Royal. The son of the man that ruined my life and took everything away from me.
I take a deep sigh. I need to think, I have been doing that a lot since I met Lotanna and No! This isn’t good for me, for my head, neither for my plans. I tug on my hair, twisting a strand, it is what I do when i am thinking hard.
When i snap out of my deep thoughts, I see that Lotanna isn’t going through the main entrance I had seen when I was trying to escape. “Why aren’t we taking the main entrance?” I ask Lotanna.
“My chamber isn’t that way” is his curt reply. I notice the stillness of his voice to me. Is he annoyed? Of course he would be seeing as I just ridiculed him with my words.
“But I need to speak with your father” I press on.. I need to ask him about the attack and I need to confirm what has been on my mind since I followed Lotanna to Hus betrothed houseβWhy all the small villages he attacked were all descendants of Aza, from Banfa to Akeche down to Iogoro.. They were all descendants of the once great Aza, it is what I noticed while trying to plan out my revenge.
“You think he had something to do with the attack?” Lotanna asks, stopping on his tracks. I stop too.
“You don’t think so?”
“Of course not! He gave you his word not to hurt you”
“And I should believe that? Forget it.. Your Father knows that as long as I am a free maiden, I will always be a threat to Royalie so he can’t keep me alive forever” I say trying to get him to reason with me.
“I do not believe you.. My father isn’t the way you paint him to be” Lotanna snaps.
I scoff. “Believe it or not. Your Father Axum Royal is a brutal, egoistic…” I do not get finish my statement when I feel Lotanna’s hand clamp over my mouth and I can’t help but gasp at the fierce look in his eyes.
“I will let you say all sorts of words to me Efua Kelechi… But you do not get badmouth my father before me because I will not take it” It is the first time I hear the coldness in his voice.
Right now the Lotanna Royal I’m staring at isn’t the one that help me hide.. This one is the clear version of his father.. Axum Royal.
