(Slave To The Royals π§)
𧑠LOTANNA ROYAL’S POV π§‘
Fvck! I instantly push Dera away from me when she kisses me. Is she insane?
“Lotanna?” She raises her brow at me while I wipe my arm over my lips.
“Do not do that ever again!” I snap at her.
“But… Lotanna…” She stares at me as if asking why? I roll my eyes in disgust.
“Do you really think I wanna marry you? I mean you seriously think you could be even be in the list of maidens I have in mind? Don’t you remember? Are you that stupid to think I would have forgotten what you did?”
Dera’s lips are quivering because my voice is a bit loud now but fvck do I give a damn. I continue, ignoring her close to tears glistening eyes. “Look, I’m only here on the others of my father, left to me alone I won’t even want you a mile close to me talkless of sharing a room with you… So you had better know your place Idera!” I snap furiously calling her full name mainly because I know she hates it.
“Lotanna…” She calls shakily trying to hold my hands, I push her hands off.
“Do. Not. Touch. Me” I say enunciating and emphasizing each word. “I will take my leave now. . and if you know what is good for you… You won’t step your feet in the palace!” So saying I walk out, my blood boiling in anger.
Fvck! I have never felt this angry in a long time!
“Hey” My eyes meets Efua as she stands from where she had been sitting. “You didn’t spend up to twenty minutes in there.. And your face looks like you just swallowed poop” she remarks. I find myself smiling as I roll my eyes at her statement.
“Whatever… Shall we leave” I say.
“I thought you were gonna sleep there and forget me.. And I was already dying of hunger” she says eyeing me as she gets on the horse.
I roll my eyes. “You? Die of hunger? Efua you are like an iron that won’t break or bend, hunger can’t kill you” I honestly state.
Efua scoffs. “Blabber on Prince Lotanna… Where is our next stop?”
“The waterfall” I say simply. I really need to cool my nerves after the stupid drama with Dera and the waterfall is the best place to do that.
“Find lead the way Your Royal Highness” she says with as much sarcasm as she can express.
𧑠EFUA KELECHI’S POV π§‘
As Lotanna and I ride away from Dera’s house, I try not to think of the look on his face when he came out of there but still it keeps pondering my mind.
He looked furious.. Murderous even. Maybe I wasn’t imagining the distasteful look on his face when she ran to hug him? Could it be that he doesn’t like her? If so then why does he want to marry her, unless he is being forced to marry her or what else could it be?
I shake my head, trying to drive the thoughts away. I decide to observe the kingdom as we ride pass to take my mind of it. I sight the waterfall before we get to it. It is located in a very remote and hidden place but it is really beautiful.
“Wow” I mutter getting down from the horse and securing it to a safe place.
“You like it?” Lotanna says from behind me.
I laugh. “Of course, it is really beautiful” I remark. The sound of the water rushing down its creek and the sight of the waves hitting each other as the river moves. There was nothing like this in Aza.
“I come here when I have to think, well I haven’t been here for the past ten years though” Lotanna says, I raise my eyes to see him directly at my back. I gulp at the intensity of our closeness but I do not make any attempt to step back.
“Why?” I manage to ask trying to mask the breathlessness of my voice.
“I haven’t been here for the past ten years.. I just arrived yesterday” he replies.
I gulp. “Well that explains your accent.. You went to the foreign land right?”
Lotanna nods and walks to the edge of the the river giving me space to breathe again. Why is he affecting me this much? I exhale and follow him.
“Can you swim?” He asks me.
I shake my head in negation. “No”
He bursts into laughter. “So there is something brave and fearless Efua cannot do eh?”
I snort but smile at his statement. Did he just call me brave and fearless? Pfft! I am nowhere near brave.. If I am, I would have saved my parents from the attack instead of running. I would have fought the royal warriors when the caught Nana and I in the forest.
“I could teach you” he says.
“I don’t wanna learn” i reply him plainly and plop down on the floor placing my feet into the water.
“Why?” He sits beside me and he is close. Too close.
“Nothing.. I just don’t wan….” I pause when my ear picks up a sound, like someone is here.
I stand instantly drawing out my sword. “Efua” Lotanna calls confused. I raise my hands and walk stealthily into the bushy part. I look down and see foot prints on the floor. I crouch down and examine it.
I knew it.
“Someone was here” I state and look at Lotanna who is just staring curiously at me. “And the person was here to kill… The question is, who was the target? You? Or I?”
