(Slave To The Royals π§)
𧑠EFUA KELECHI’S POV π§‘
I gape at the fresh bred horses before us, my eyes almost popping out of its socket. “I’m going to ride on this?” I ask looking at Lotanna who is strapping on a duffel bag on the first horse.
“You’ve never ridden on one?”
“I have… Just not one that screams wealth.like this” I say, muttering the last part. He hears me because he lifts his upper lip in a half smile before getting on the horse.
“Aren’t you getting on?”
“Of course I am” I get on the second horse and pull the reins, following behind him.
We pull to a stop in front of an house, not as big as the palace but big enough for me to know the house is occupied by wealthy people. Silly me, is he going to marry a poor indigene? I secure the horses to a nearby tree after we get down and follow Lotanna.
The house isn’t fenced so I can see the happenings around the house, there are two ladies probably maids sweeping the compound and on the balcony I see another lady sitting with her eyes closed as if she is meditating while a maid massages her leg. With the classiness of her body and the way she is being waited upon because there are two other maids behind her braiding her hair I think, there is no need to tell me that this is Lotanna’s soon to be bride.
I do not know why the thought of that seems unpleasant to me but I am quick to shake it away because I am not about to analyze my thoughts for going that way and I am not going to ponder on why it did because I do not want to know the dreadful answer to that.
As if on cue, the ladies eyes fly open and it widens in surprise or excitementβwhatever it is when her eyes meets Lotanna. “Lotanna!” Comes her squeal as she jerks up from the chair and runs out lunging herself at him in an hug.
I conclude, I do not like Lotanna’s betrothed and I do not want to know why.
I look at Lotanna to guage his reaction to her and I might be mistaken when I see him scrunch his nose up as if in distaste. “Dera” he says gently pushing her off him.
I should not interpret his gesture but he has me thinking, does he not like her? But then again, what’s my business anyway. I chide myself.
“I didn’t know you were back” she says in her squeaky like voice and Lotanna smilesβa forced smile if you would ask me.
“I arrived yesterday” is his reply to her. The girl, Dear smiles and loops her hand through his. It is then she notices me.
She frowns at me. “Lotanna who is she”
I hate the way she talks like a rabbit, it sickens me. I look at her give her a fake sweet smile. “Good afternoon, I am Efua.. Prince Lotanna’s bodyguard”
She scoffs. “You? A bodyguard? I do not like as his bodyguard plus you do not look like a Royalie”
I want to scoff back at her but I keep my calm. “Dera please do not make my bodyguard uncomfortable, shall we go in” Lotanna says and Dera gives me one last glare before pulling Lotanna in.
I can’t help but roll my eyes as I follow them in but Dera suddenly looks back at me. “Is she coming with us?” She snorts as if talking about me is like bile in her throat. I am rolling my eyes again.
“I’d just stay out here” I say in mock politeness and she glares at me before pulling Lotanna in. What is wrong with her anyway? She looks too desperate for my liking. Why will Lotanna even marry someone like her.
Taken, she would even break his heart as it is. What’s my business anyway? Not like I am his mother or sister. Pfft! What a thought.
I breath in a sigh and walk to the tree where the horses are, I find a free space and plop down waiting impatiently for Lotanna to be through with his lover.
𧑠LOTANNA ROYAL’S POV π§‘
I’m practically going crazy as it is, I do not want to be here but thanks to Father, I have to act the role of the good fiancΓ© and visit Dera every chance I get. This is bullshit, fvcking bullshit and I would rather spend time with Efua out there than sit here and keep listening to Dera brag and blab about her achievement of some sorts.
Wait. Did I just say I would rather spend time with Efua? I blink my eyes and shake my head where did that thought come from?
“Lotanna are you okay?” Dera asks me. I force out a smile at her.
“I’m good..” I mutter.
“But….”
“Just a slight headache” I add when I see that she won’t let it go.
Dera immediately stands up and rushes to my side, she places her hand over my head as if feeling my temperature. I push it down gently. “Don’t stress yourself Dera” I say and she pouts. Didn’t anyone ever tell her that she looks horrible while pouting.
“But you said you have an headache… As your wife to be, I shouldn’t leave you like this… Do you want to rest?”
I almost throw up when she calls herself my wife to be. Is she insane? Has she forgotten what she did? Is she not aware that I hate her with every fibre in me.
“No I’m fine, I just haven’t gotten over my long trip… Beside I should leave now” I say and stand up.
Dera stands with me. “But you just arrived” she whines. Fvck! Can’t she at least read the signs?
“I have things to take care off, I’ll come when next I’m free”
“Or I can come around to the palace?” She suggests with a stupid batt of her lashes.
Slut!
“Yeah, sure”
I am already leaving when she holds my hands and pull me to herself. Hell no! What the hell!
And before I can say anything, I feel her lips press against mine. Fvck!
