“Joe is my only hope of recovering all that I have lost since all these trouble began, and I won’t be able to lay my hands on anything if I allow that good for nothing girl die like she wants to..
“The only person who’ll be dyïng next is that Ben. He has so much in his hands, and if left unchecked, he may be my undoing.

Meanwhile, in Nkem’s house, they were gathered like a team again, to analyze the events and to plan on the next step to take, as regards Mandy’s plans to take Max off.
Joe agreed with the plans to get the police involved and get Stone and his boys reined in, but he wanted it done, in a way that would let them have the chance to do what they wanted to do before they arrived.
”Ah honey, that’s too much! No matter what they have done, they’re but victims of Mandy’s manipulations as well, and whatever it is, I think they’re too young for the weight of the evïl that’s about to hit them” Nkem told her husband.
“They’re no victims my love. They both chose to do what they did because they are who they are.
“Do you know all the pains and anguish they caused us? Or have you so suddenly forgotten? Do you know how terribly they both allowed themselves to be agents of destrûction to our marriage?
“Just imagine what would have happened, if God hadn’t been merciful enough to help us overcome all their antics and games” Joe said, looking very àngry.
“God’s mercies, right? This is what I’m saying honey. We were only able to overcome because God refused to allow us fall totally and not because we’re both so clean, and innocent in all that led up to this stage.
“Pease let this mercy also save them and keep them from getting the capital punishment.
“We all know that if those àssasins get there this night, even Farida, won’t be safe. I agree that Max really did so much, allowing Mandy to use him frame me up so bãdly that you didn’t see anyway around making excuses for me, and had to accept that I was pregnant for him, but what if Farida?
“Fine, she played along with her mother,and got me out of our home, playing different tricks and games, but I can’t forget how she kept weeping on the day we made her begin this wrong journey!
“And honey, no matter how bad Farida and Max has been, the little child growing in her, is innocent.
“Plus, I would never forgive myself, if I have to keep recalling that I had a chance to save the two people I had asked to do me a favour, and failed to help them.
“And this is a big deal because, when I asked for their help, when I asked them to help me, I knew what I wanted them to do was meant to cost them a partial separation, a major sacrifice, but they agreed, only for things to keep turning against them.
“With Mandy, the sèrpent continuously bringing new twists to her êvïl plot, I really can’t blame those kids completely. Please don’t make me have to watch this happen to them, honey, it means a great deal to me” Nkem said.
“Nkem! Nkemdilim!” mama called her fondly, looking at her with so much adoration, before she spoke again.
“I don’t know how you were made my daughter, but I know if we all were made with half the clay of kindness with which you were molded, this life would have been so easy to live, and the earth would have been nothing short of a paradise” mama said, praising Nkem, wholeheartedly, and unconsciously recalling the days she treated Nkem with côntempt, in rēgrets
“Brother, your wife is right. Things are about to go wrong, and if that happens, we will not be able to reverse the effect, after the ugly incident.
“Please forgive them, and let them be saved, just like the mercy of God saved mama, you and your wife” Amarachi said, making Ben to nod in agreement.
“I don’t know why you all don’t understand me. I didn’t say I was going to kïll them myself.
“I’m only going to watch them destroy themselves, and look the other way, while they clash, because I think they deserve what they’re a going to get.
“Amarachi, you think my wife is right, when she’s saying those two bràts are victîms of circumstances after they willfully did all that they did to ruin me.
“They’re quite lucky that I am patient enough to watch them do what they’re doing to themselves, but I won’t be God over them.
“God saved me, they should wait for Him to save them, because it won’t be me playing God for them” Joe said resolutely.
“Honey! Aren’t you being too hard? God saved us, but He used men!
“He made Jackie stay besides me, through thick and thin, first taking me to the doctor that gave me the supplements I took before I took in, then she stood firmly besides me, when you chased me out of the house…” She was still saying, when her husband cut in.
“And I’ve apologized to you my love. I have shown you how sorry I am for going the wrong path with so much speed, and I’ll spend the rest of my days showing you how sorry I am” Joe said, his voice beginning to soften.
“I know right, but I was just saying that God helped us this much, because He placed people like Ben, Amarachi, Jackie and lately, your mother in positions to help us. Just like He gas now placed us to help those two.
“I don’t know how else to tell you this Joe, but if we can’t help these people, and have them remain alive to atone for their sîns, and possibly change for the better, then I was partial, to have forgiven you” Nkem said, getting her husband, exactly where she wanted.
