👫💞 The Other Woman Episode THREE:
Joe got out of his room and was walking out in a hurry to get to his car when Martha intercepted him in the sitting room.
“What’s this? Why are you standing in my way? Have you suddenly gone bananas?” Joe scowled àngrily.
“Yes Joe, I going crãzy watching you run after a woman who has done nothing but run away from her true responsibility of giving you a child.
“I wouldn’t have cared whether or not you know it’s a reproach to remain without a child at your age, but I’m your wife now, and if I allow you keep behaving this way, mama will also assume that I’m infèrtile as well” Martha said firmly.
“Alright, I’ve heard you madam fertile. Now get out of my way, or I’ll forget that I’m not supposed to hit a woman!
“Get your no good, unwanted and repulsive self out of my way now or you’d be sorry the next instant” Joe said a little too loudly as he pushed her out of the way, and his mother came running out.
“What is going on here? What is happening?” Mama asked as she ran towards them.
She kicked a side stool when Martha who had been pushed fell on her, and fell heavily to the ground, spraining an ankle.
“Chim oooo! (My God!) Joseph has killêd me ooo! Ah, my hand! So this is what I get now for doing nothing but asking my only son to give me a grandchild.
“Who did I offend in this life?” mama lamented, rolling on the floor in pains. Joe rushed to her sides blaming himself for not noticing her coming before he pushed Martha away.
He quickly carried his mother to the car, and while he was placing her in the back seat, she kept crying and lamenting about how unfortunate she was to have a child who didn’t care about her worries and her pains.
Joe was too concerned about how his aged mother was crying in pains to worry about Martha who had rushed to get into the front passenger’s seat. He drove straight to the hospital to have the doctors have a quick look at his mother.
“You see what you have caused now. Can you see the problem you have created you tròuble personified being!
“Mama brought you here, and made my kinsmen inform me that I’ll be sanctioned if I sent you away because it’d be a shàme to them who my mother made to accompany her to your parents place for traditional rites, and I decided to allow you stay.
“But it’s a pity you now imagine that I’ve become your husband indeed for you to begin to get stupîd enough to block my path when I’m worried about my wife’s welfare.
“When my mother comes out of this hospital, I’m going to do what I should have done from the start” Joe told Martha as they stood in the waiting room, while the doctor attended to mama.
Martha had since lost her ability to talk, seeing how enraged Joe had become after his mother had got herself injured because of her.
She just stood by and waited for the doctor to come out, wishing she had a way of making Nkem disappear forever!
Meanwhile, Mandy had made all the preparations and was waiting for Joe to appear at her doorstep any time, but became troubled because he wasn’t forthcoming.
She tried to convince Nkem to call him, but she just didn’t want to hear a word of it, until Mandy told her of the possibility of Joe having been involved in an accident on his way to her house.
Nkem became frantic and began to call, but her calls kept reaching Joe’s voicemail because he wasn’t taking the calls.
“I’m unavoidably away at the moment because I’m very busy at the moment. Leave a message” the voice prompt said each time she called.
“Of course he has to be busy! How would he take my calls when he has a new wife to impregnate!” Nkem said, throwing her phone on the chair.
“That’s just a voicemail prompt Nkem. He may be away from his phone and enabled the prompt for missed calls before now” Mandy said, trying to think of the next viable option, since Joe neither came nor took his calls.
She convinced Nkem to go home and find out exactly what was going on, to make her husband ignore her calls like he was doing.
“Farida, please drive us to my friend’s house. We need to be sure everything is okay with Uncle Joe” Mandy told her daughter as she walked out of the house in a hurry.
Farida argued about not wanting to go out that night because she needed to have an important discussion with her boyfriend, but her mother prevailed on her, and they were soon on their way to Joe’s house.
“Oga went out with mama and the other woman” the gateman told Nkem when she asked for her husband’s whereabouts.
Nkem called his number again, only to hear it ring from the chair where he had thrown it earlier.
“I see! He even left his phone behind to ensure that I didn’t reach him, or disturb his new wife” Nkem spat, looking so beaten.
Mandy was at a loss of words. She didn’t know what to say again, only wishing that she could get her daughter to stop whispering to her ears about not being ready to do what she wanted her to do.
She had told her daughter of the plans to have her sēduce Uncle Joe and get pregnant for him, but the girl had insisted that she loved her boyfriend too much to cheat on him.
“Come on baby, even Max will see you as a reasonable girl, if he comes to know that you’re only going to be with Uncle Joe for just one year, and bring you two enough fortune to make your dreams achievable.
“See, all I’m asking is, get pregnant for him, allow him marry you because of our tradition, and have my friend adopt that child as soon as you can, then you have become super rich. Or don’t you want us to stop being this pōor?
“You won’t have to suffer again, and Max too, won’t have to work in that dãmn water factory to raise money needed to marry you.
“He’ll certainly be happy to know that my friend is ready to buy him a car, the moment you get pregnant for her husband” Mandy had told her daughter, and she agreed to have a talk with her boyfriend.
Mandy didn’t worry her head arguing further because she had been sure Joe would make love to her daughter that night when he showed up in their house, but the dude had suddenly disappeared, after sounding so despêrate to know where Nkem was, making all her plans and arrangement come to naught!
