As soon as Joe drove away, Amarachi walked you to Nkem to speak with her. She wanted to fill Nkem in, on what was going on, because if she wanted Nkem and mama to be safe, she needed to let her know what they’re up against.

“It is none other but your despêrate friend. Yes, it was Mandy who messed with the ventilator and tried to snuff life out of mama” Amarachi told Nkem.
“Okay, I also know it’s Mandy, but I’m wondering how you got to know about it.
“I bumped into her as she tried to get away after doing the dìrty deed, and Jackie and I have been trying to understand why she did what she did, but the answers aren’t very good to imagine” Nkem told her.
“Well, let’s say, a friend of mine was used to tamper with the only evidence that would have pinned her to the crìme.
“Like you said, you got there a minute earlier than she expected anyone to come, and thwarted her plans and actions
“You rescued mama and saved her from getting killêd as per Mandy’s plans, and she had to look for another way to get her deeds done. But first, she had to cover her tracks.
“She went as far as far as trying to bribe the guy in the CCTV control room, to get him to glitch the footages, and when he refused, she chose to use àphrodisiac on the unsuspecting guy, and got him doing her bids.
“Mandy told Ben, my friend, that she had been nàked in the room without knowing there were cameras everywhere and was worried about who could hands on the footages.
“So she needed him to render the footages unusable, without taking a look at them, because she was afraid that someone may want to use her nûdes to blãckmãil her later.
“Ben not only deleted the footages, he had her coming back to his office later in the night, with another form of àphrodisiac; a type that she had in her mouth.
“She got him banging her again, this time, to get him to place something on Mama’s face. It was a special prayer item she got from a church, to protect mama, she had told him.
“Ben went to Mama’s room, only to find it heavily guarded and strictly monitored by the hospital staff.
“The nurse on duty, one of the numerous girls that have been crushing on Ben, made him know what was really going on.
“He rushed out of the room, after getting a clear understanding of what had just happened; he had been used to tamper with a very important piece of evidence, and if gotten, he was going in for aiding and abetting.
“And what’s more? He found out that the target is my mother, so you can already imagine how he felt, when he saw me walk into his office, some moments after Mandy stepped out, late that night” Amarachi said
“Wait a minute Amarachi, is this Ben the very same Ben? Is he the Ben that made you decide to stay single all these years? Nkem asked
“He is sister, but let’s talk about that later. I’ll tell you all about me and him after now, but you need to understand why you have to be careful ” Amarachi said, blushing.
Mama walked into the sitting room at that point and looked at the two young ladies talking in hushed tones, then let a smile crawl up on her face.
Kem and Amarachi stopped talking at once and walked over to sit besides mama.
“Nnem (my mother), how are you feeling now? I’m so happy I got to see you again hall and hearty. The last time I saw you, I was walking away from Joe’s house.
“God is so merciful and kind to have kept you. How would I have felt, knowing that your last memory of me was the first time I spoke harshly to you? So you wouldn’t have been around to hold my child?” Nkem asked mama, sitting on her left hand side, while Amarachi sat on Mama’s right hand side.
“Nkem, the last time you saw me, you didn’t say any harsh words, you asked what was wrong with me, and you tried to help me take off the ventilator mask and screaming for help.
“Quit trying to play along with what the doctor told you. He told you what I wanted them to believe” mama said, making Amarachi and Nkem screàm in shock.
“Mama, are you saying you remember everything? I don’t understand mama, why did you choose to make everyone believe you forgot?” Amarachi asked.
“Amara nwa’m (Amara my daughter), did you honestly think I’m too old to know what to do per time? Especially with my life in dangêr?” mama asked, making the two younger women giggle excitedly.
“Now tell me, why did you seem to already know that I need to stay away from Mandy? Because from what I heard, the footages were deleted. How did you know she was the culprît?” mama asked.
“Mama, since you recall everything, why don’t you go ahead and tell us all that happened in the hospital ward?” Amarachi asked, trying to avoid mentioning Ben and how he was connected to everything.
“I’ll start from what happened at home, from when I was attãcked and nearly beaten to deãth. I’ll tell you about all the conspiraciès and everything that has been targeted at Nkem, to ensure that she and my true grandchild would be pushed out, but you’ll need to first tell me what you two have been humming about” mama said.
Nkem decided to be the one who spoke, because she knew more than anyone else, that mama didn’t have to hear the part, where Ben made love to Mandy, or that he tried to kïll her.
She told mama about how Ben found out that Mandy lièd about her nûdes being in the footages and made him delete the footages, and how he had heard from the nurses that there had been any attàck on her life, in the particular ward, Mandy requested the footages to be deleted.
“And so mama, Ben and I, sat down to analyze the situation, after I went to him for the footages, and found them all gone.
“Mandy told him so many lies, just to get him to do the things she wanted.
“So, after he found out that for starters, you’re not Mandy’s mother, and that she couldn’t have been truly trying to delete a nûde video, Ben and I concluded that there may be a special reason she wanted the videos deleted.
“Then, the nurses told us about how she had sent someone to place something in your room, just to get you to sleep forever, and we knew that there must be something she doesn’t want you to say.
“The cameras in the hospital lobby, as well as the entrance of the room you stayed, also shows clearly, the time frame of sister Nkem’s visit, we could now comfortably tell that she just tried to frame her.
“We surmised that Mandy was the one we needed to shield you from, and I also knew you could be safe here, because I have known my brother’s wife for so many years.
“If she didn’t try to kïll you all these years that she was trying to conceive, she isn’t going to try to kill you, now that she has conceived” Amarachi said.
“You’re my true child Amarachi! A lion doesn’t beget a goat” mama said, beaming with smiles.
“Nkem my daughter, I won’t begin to apologize to you, until I’ve fully recovered from the terrible beatings I got from…” she was saying, when they heard someone knocking urgently on the door.
They all exchanged glances and Nkem was the first to react, getting up at once to know who was knocking as if the house belonged to him or her
“Who is there?” she asked, walking to the door, and even before she reached the door, the person on the other side of the door, had started opening the door with a master key
