π«π The Man I Met Part Five:
They transformed into dogs and ran off. I woke up with a start and looked around. I was still on the spot where I passed out but the light was no longer there. The time was a few minutes to 5 am. I remembered the dream I had clearly and I knew it was the revelation of my salvation. I started praying. Before then, I was not good at prayers of warfare. I didn’t even pray much. But in that moment, I became a prayer warrior. I prayed like I’d never done before.
I don’t know how, but in that moment, I knew exactly what to say. I knew the scriptural verses to quote even though I’d never quoted them before. God possessed me with the spirit of prayer and I prayed. It was as if someone was praying through me and all I had to do was to let my mouth open. For the first time in my life, I was sure my prayers were going directly to the Throne of Grace. I knew I wasn’t just praying, but talking to God directly.
The promises he made in the scriptures were laid bare before me and I quoted them effortlessly. I cried as I prayed, reminding God that my only crime was searching for love in the wrong place. Brethren, that moment in my life taught me that nobody who seeks God in truth and in spirit will ever be forsaken. I learnt that if there is a man to pray, God is always there to answer.
Within a few minutes, I felt God. I felt the power which parted the Red Sea. I experienced the power that fell the walls of Jericho. I encountered the power which kept Daniel in the lions’ den, the power which safeguarded Shedrach, Mishark and Abednego in the pit of fire, the power which broke the locks while Paul and Silas were in prison. Ultimately, I felt the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I felt the presence of God in its totality.
It is the most fascinating thing one can ever experience and consciousness of knowing I was in direct communion with the Supreme being is something I can never explain completely. But I tell you, that feeling is life. While I prayed, I felt whole and renewed. I felt free and liberated. The word of God in the book of 2 Corinthians 3:17, where there’s the spirit of God, there is liberty, manifested in my life.
I felt completely free and the things which bothered me a few hours earlier no longer bothered me. The fear, the feeling of hopelessness and helplessness were all gone. By the time I remembered to check the site of the devil’s affliction in my body, it was no more. The swelling in my vagina had reduced drastically and had become almost painless. Also, there were lots of tiny maggots in the floor and I didn’t know when they fell out of my body. I knew I was free.
I knew the mighty man in battle had set me free. I knew I was that child of God in the book of John 8:36. The son of God had set me free and I am free indeed. But the devil and his cohorts were not free. They don’t rest and they never will.
While I was singing praises to God for the mighty work he had done in my life, my phone rang. I ignored it and continued worshipping the only true God. The phone rang again and again. I picked it and the caller was the man I met. I was no longer scared of him and whatever he served and I picked the call. He growled in my ear like a dog for some seconds before he spoke. “You belong to (name of his deity) forever and you can never escape his glory”, the man said.
I was no longer afraid of them, so what he said didn’t scare me. I knew that he who was in me at that moment was greater than whatever powers their deity had. I was bold and confident. I wanted to tell him that the son of God had set me free and I was free indeed, but before I could talk, he ended the call. By then, it was already morning and the bustling of the city had started outside.
I called my colleague, the one who insisted I must go to a hospital, and told her I won’t be coming to work. I didn’t give her the details but I begged her to put in an excuse grant form for me. My plan was to go to any living church and tell a man of God about my ordeal. Deep down, I knew the agents of darkness wouldn’t let me go free that easily and I needed spiritual backup from a strong man of God.
I hastily bathed and dressed up to leave the house. But they wouldn’t let me. They came sooner than I expected. When I got to the door to open it, the door jammed and refused to open. While I struggled to open the door, the room started turning dark and the growls of dogs rented the atmosphere. In that instant, an invisible pair of hands started stranguling me.
The force was very strong and I couldn’t fight it. I resorted to praying in my heart. It was still the prayers of warfare and my mind was fixed on the man of light who came to rescue me. Just when I was about passing out, the hands suddenly released the grip and I fell onto the floor gasping for air. The room was very dark and I couldn’t see anything. Then from where I laid on the floor, I started hearing growls up ahead.
I looked up and saw uncountable pairs of glowing eyes. They shone like red-hot charcoal and they were very low, close to the floor. A mighty wind started blowing, throwing objects around and grabbing at the cloths I wore. I heard a loud thud and the lights came on. I saw the figures before me and cold shivers enveloped my body.
They were the man I met with many other men in their human-dog form. They were all around the room. The other creature was a giant dog. It was as huge as a cow and its face was covered in blΕod. Its canines were overlapping its lips and blood was dripping from its mouth. Each step it made was followed by a loud thud as it advanced towards me. The other human dogs bowed to it as it growled fiercely towards me. I melted.
It walked towards me with blood drooling from its mouth and its growls deafening my ears. I had no where or the strength to run. I couldn’t even say out a prayer. The fear of the giant demonic creature advancing to devour me left me paralyzed. All I could do was talking to God in my heart. “Dear God, you promised I’m your daughter. Please save me”, I kept repeating in my heart. That was the only defense I could put up against the altar of darkness which had come to take me as a sacrifice.
And that littlest defense I put up became my salvation. God came through as he always does. He came at the nick of time. He is never late and his timing is perfect. Just as the giant demonic dog was about sinking its claws into my flesh, the man of light came. He came in his might and glory. He came trotting on his stallion with his sword of fire in his right hand. Immediately he arrived, the other creatures scampered for safety. They disappeared into the air.
There was no fight for supremacy. There was no show of power. They all ran from the Supreme power. That is why it is said that at the mention of the name Jesus Christ, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus is Lord. I witnessed the manifestation of that ultimate power firsthand. It was a glorious experience. I thought I was awake witnessing all that, but I wasn’t. I didn’t know at what point I lost consciousness.
I actually saw the fight for my soul in the spiritual realm. When I came to, the room was bright and some objects were lying about. I didn’t try to arrange anything. I was more concerned about my salvation. I left the house immediately in search of a man of God. I didn’t have any church or pastor in mind. I only begged God to lead me to the right place and in his infinite mercy, he did.
I went to a living church. It is a popular church in Nigeria but I will not mention the name here. When I got there, the senior pastor was seeing people in his office while the assistant pastor was counselling people in the church hall. I came and sat among the people waiting to be counselled. I was planning on how to approach the pastor when he called me to come. I went.
The first question he asked me was “who did you kΔ«ll?” I became confused. I didn’t kΔ«ll anyone and I told him that. But he insisted that the spirit of whom I kΔ«lled was following me around. He asked me the question again and asked me to answer sincerely if I needed God to intervene in my case. I repeated my answer and he said I was joking with my life. He said I needed to confess my sins because I had limited time.
I started crying and telling him I kΔ«lled no one. I begged him to pray for me. I was loud and that caused a commotion among the people waiting. The senior pastor came out to know what was happening and immediately he saw me, he started praying. He went straight into prayers of warfare and the other pastor and the congregation joined in. They prayed for a long time before the pastor stopped and took me to his office.
In there, he asked me who I pledged my soul to because he saw me pledging my soul on an altar. I opened my mouth to tell him about all that happened with the man I met and his cohorts, but I found out I couldn’t talk anymore. I had gone dumb within the second and I couldn’t utter a word. The coven of dogs had followed me to the church.
