SEASON 1:
Rita’s side of the story.
My actual names are Edojie Christiana Uloma, I am the only daughter and the second child of my parent, my family used to be a happy one, it was filled with happiness and love. My parent was so much in love that I always prayed to marry a man like my Dad, my siblings and I were not left out, we were so loved by my parent.
Dad worked in a petrochemical company and made a lot of money which he used in taking care of us, he was just after us being comfortable. Mom wasn’t a full housewife because she believed in working to help carry the burden of family with her husband, she didn’t believe in the fact that the man must do everything in the home. She first work as a banker but had to resign when she became pregnant with my younger brother who happens to be the last child. She went into clothes business and in no time became the owner of a very big store where male and female wear were sold in wholesale.
Mom came back one evening and informed us about her newfound faith in Christ, she made us realize that this newfound faith will help her to become a better mother to us. When Dad got wind of this, he flared up, he asked Mom to renounce her faith if she doesn’t want trouble from him, it wasn’t a funny situation as Dad insisted that none of his family members would be born again. He claimed that his mother was impregnated by a pastor in the course of performing deliverance on her which caused his parent’s separation so, he swore that none of his blood relations will ever step their feet in any church.
Mom tried to make him realize that not all pastors are not the same and that we still have true men of God out there but Dad stood his ground. Mom went to church without Dad’s consent, and whenever she comes back, they will start fighting. Gradually, our home became a war zone, as my siblings and I also began to fight one another. I took to mom side while my brothers took Dad’s side, they felt Mom was disobeying Dad which was not supposed to be like that. My elder brother claimed mom ought to obey Dad for peace to reign in our family.
Things went from bad to worse in the space of one year, Mom became an ardent church goer hence, she and Dad drifted apart, something that affected my siblings so much. One afternoon, Mom announced that she would be traveling for deliverance program and would come back three days later but on the third day, we were called by a certain hospital to come pick up her dead body.
Getting to the hospital, we were told that she and some of the church members were involved in an accident on her way back and died before the doctors could attend to her. It was rumored that the pastor of the church used the members to increase his wealth and the population of his church. Some people claim such an incident happens every year whenever the church goes for a deliverance program on the mountain.
Dad fell into depression after Mom’s death, it was a tough period for my family, Dad called us and explained why he never wanted her to go to any church. That was how we lost our mother, my siblings and I cried for days and wished God could return her to us but nothing of such happened.
Two months later, Dad died in his sleep, and my brothers and I were devastated. We became orphans within a short period, My elder brother was enraged, he went to the pastor’s house to fight him for killing our mother and putting our family in pain. If I had known, I would have restrained him from going, three days after going to the pastor’s house, my brother died in his sleep.
I was devastated, my Dad’s family buried my father and elder brother on the same day. I was in serious pain, our happy family was turned into a mourning zone in a short period. There, I promised to avenge the death of my mother, father, and brother, I was ready to destroy the pastor’s home just like he destroyed ours.
Five years later, I had grown to become a beautiful young nineteen years old girl. I pretended to be a cook who was in dire need of a job, I applied as a cook in the pastor’s house and got the job.
