“Who’s that?” I asked as if I didn’t know it was the governor’s daughter
“It’s me Eli” She answered
“Who is Eli?”
“Eli… Your boss daughter” she explained.
“I still don’t know who is Eli” I told her.
“Aaah!” She grunt “It’s Eli.. Elizabeth, you dummy”
I smiled. I thought she never liked it when someone says her complete name, now she have said the complete name herself. I made her say the name. If I can make her do this. I can make her do other things. I thought to myself.
“Elizabeth who?” I continued the questioning.
“Are you serious now?” She asked, with almost annoyed tune.
“I don’t know who is Elizabeth. What’s your father’s name and native name; maybe it will help me remember”
“Seriously?… Ah!…. Oh come-on”
“Are you saying or not?” I asked her “If you won’t answer my question please get out from my window.
“Fine!” She grumble. “I’m Elizabeth Raymond. My native name is Chidinma. So I’m Elizabeth Chidinma Raymond”
“Oh that’s good” I paused, smiling within me.
There was silence for a moment.
“Oh come-onnnn! Get the door open already” she broke the silence
“And why are you speaking from my window” I continued the questioning.
“Because your door is locked and I’ve knocked severally but you didn’t open. I thought you would be asleep so I had to come wake you up through the window”
“Well, as you can see, I’m asleep”
“Oh come-on, Joseph. Get the door open already, please!” She begged
“I said I’m already asleep. Go back to your room!” I yelled.
“You’re yelling. Someone might hear you” She told me.
“I don’t care if someone hears me or not. Please go back to your room. I don’t want to lose my job” I told her.
“You’re already halfway to losing your job if you don’t open this door” She told me.
If I let her in and her father suddenly comes to my room to check on me and sees her; what will I do? There’s no way I will let her lure me to trouble. I told myself and ignored her.
“Joseph! Please let me in.” She said “if you don’t let me in, I won’t let you sleep”
I still ignored her. She went to the door and started ringing the doorbell without stopping. The noise of the bell became too much that I couldn’t sleep.
I went to the door and opened it. Before I could say: “Why are you disturbing my peace” She shrugged herself into my room, went straight to my bed and sat down.
“Do you know if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have gotten this job?” she said “I asked my Dad to hire you because I love you”
“Excuse me? Did you say you love me?” I asked surprisingly. “How? When?”
“The very first day we met. I fell in love with you” She said.
“Have we met before? All I can remember, today is my first time seeing you”
“We met on the day you were interviewed for this job. I know you may not remember but I remember you and that was the day I fell in love with you”
She stood up and started walking towards me
“That’s love at first sight right?” She asked as she stood before me.
I was leaning on the table and she was standing very close to me that I could hear her breathe.
“No, that’s madness” I replied.
“I know you think I’m crazy for acting this way around you, right?” She said and started to caress my chest.
“No, I don’t think you are crazy. I know you are mad. Infact, you are very, very mad!” I yelled seizing her hand and pushing her away.
“For a small girl like you to be in a man’s room at this time of the night. You must be very mad.”
“I’m not a small girl; I’m fifteen years old!” She blurted and came closer again.
“Do you know how old I am? I’m twenty-nine years old while you are fifteen. Did you see the long gap? Do you know what people will say if they see you and I making out? They will say it’s child abuse. And I will be sent to prison for that?”
“But nobody is seeing us. And nobody will see us” She said and started caressing me again. “It’s just you and I alone; let’s have a good time.
Her soft touch on my chest started sending chills down my spine. Gradually, I started having sensation.

“Let’s go to your bed and spend some time” She said and grabbed my hand, dragging me towards my bed. “My parents are asleep so you have nothing to worry;”
“No, your parents are alseep And that’s the more reason you should be in your bed by now” I said and quickly carried her out of my room and pushed her away.
“If you ever bother me again, I will have no option than to report you to your father” I warned her.
“You’re an ingrate! And for pushing me away, I will make sure you lose your job tomorrow. And not only will you lose your job, you will also rust in jail” She threatened and walked away.
I went back into my room and locked my door. While I lay on my bed, Her threat resounded in my ear. I remembered that the Governor said I will be driving her to her school for her lessons every evening. Maybe if I’m driving her to her school tomorrow, she will exhibit something that will put me to trouble. What could it be?
