The Governor and his family were still outside welcoming their precious daughter when I walked up to him.
“Good evening sir! Good evening ma’am” I greeted him and his wife, bowing my head.
“Good evening Joseph” The Governor responded calmly. He didn’t ask me why I brought back his daughter late or querry me. He just responded as if nothing happened. Perhaps what his daughter told about him was correct. Perhaps he doesn’t querry her nonchalant behaviours or ask about her absence.
“I want to return the car keys to you sir” I said, stretching my hand with the car key towards him.
He collected it and I headed straight to the boys quarters. The Governor gave me a well furnished room there. It was the accommodation company provided for me. And I came early this morning and fix some of my things before heading to start my first time work as a PA.
I was busy unlocking my door and thanking God for a successful job done, when I a hand taped me quickly on my shoulder. I startled and turned immediately. Behold, it was the governor’s daughter
“Jesus Christ, Elizabeth! You scared me!” I shouted
“Shiiiiiii….. Lower your voice; you will attract people’s attention” She said softly.
“What are you doing here? Why did you come come?”
“You’re shouting” she reminded me.
“And I will shout more if you don’t tell me why you are here” I told her
“Well, I came to tell you not to lock your door. I’m coming for you this night”
“Have you gone nuts?” I asked her curiously.
“You will find out when I come” She said and ran back to wherever she was coming from.
Hia, let this girl not put me into trouble ooh. I spoke in my dialect; then I took a deep breathe and continue to unlock my door.
As I got the door opened and stepped in. She came back again.
“Remember, don’t lock your door. I don’t want to knock” She said and ran back to again, to where she was coming from.
This girl must be crazy. I won’t be the one she will led to a trap. I said in my mind and closed my door. I didn’t just close it. I locked it with the keys.
After having my bath and putting on my nightwear. I lay on my bed and started dialing Olamide’s number. I wanted to tell him that the governor’s daughter was asking me not to lock my door so he would advise me on what to do. He has worked as a PA for five years, he probably has experience this kind of temptation but his number was not reachable.
So I called my Mom instead, and was talking with her when I heard a knock at my door.
“Who’s that?” I asked, getting up sluggishly, while still listening to the story my mom was telling me.
“Oga it’s me, Vero; the cook.”
I heard a female voice, different from the governor’s daughter voice. I opened the door and saw a beautiful, brown skin lady of about twenty five years old, holding a tray of covered foods.
“Sir Raymond asked me to get you some food” she said, handing the food to me.
“Oh thank you! Please thank Sir Raymond for me” I collected the food, keep it on my desk and locked my door back.
At around 11:40PM. Everyone had gone to sleep and everywhere was quiet except for the Humm noise coming from the power house. I had also fallen asleep when I started hearing a female voice calling out my name from the back window.
My bed was close to the back window so I heard the voice clearly saying: ” Joseph! Joseph…open the door for me”
When I listened clearly. I noticed the person calling was the governor’s daughter
Ah! This girl actually meant that she was going to come. I thought to myself
