π«π Sophia My Love Episode Twenty Seven:
Sophia woke up one morning, complaining about the way her house was smelling. She was having a problem with the way the kitchen smelled, the way the bedroom smelled and even the sitting room.
She refused to come inside the house, sitting on the balcony where her husband brought different types of food for her, until she accepted bread and apple juice.
Jovani was getting frΓ»strated with her cries and complaints, so he gladly agreed when she requested to be taken to her motherβs house because she wasnβt ready to go inside the house.
He remembered that the doctor had talked about her having to be extra careful to avoid any problems with the pregnancy, so when they got to her motherβs house, he took time to explain to her how the doctor insisted that she rests all day, and sleeps as much as she can.
He stayed with Sophia till sometime in the afternoon and decided to go to the office because he had been missing in action for so long. He was hoping to return at the close of the day to pick her up, but when he called her the second time in the one hour that he had left her, she sounded so happy that he qonder d if he wouldn’t just let her stay with her mum.
βHoney, I just finished eating. Mother made me a special local delicacy, and Iβve been so happy. Have you eaten anything yet?β she asked him, sounding so alive.
βIβve been busy baby, but the sound of your voice has just reminded me that I need to eat.
βIβm so happy to hear you sound like yourself once again. Be good baby, Iβll see you soonβ Jovani told his wife happily before he hung up.
The remaining part of that day, was filled with smiles and happy hums for Jovani. He was so happy that his wife was sounding happy again, making him regret why he hadnβt taken his wife to her motherβs long before.
On his way from work that day, Jovani bought several things, not knowing what exactly to get for his wife again, seeing how her choices and taste have clearly changed so much that he could hardly tell what she wants per time.
Mrs. Dike beamed with smiles as she watched the couple laugh happily, seeming so excited to have Sophia in good spirits again.
Jovani was afraid of taking her home, away from the happiness and the glow he was seeing in her as she laughed and played in her motherβs house, so he decided to let her stay.
He was meant to be with her till later that night and return home, but when he told her he was going, she began to cry again, complaining about how lonely she would be if he left her.
There was nothing he didnβt say, nothing he didnβt promise, to make his wife agree for him to return home because he wasnβt having any clothes to change into, but she didnβt want to hear of it.
He ended up passing the night there with her. Mrs. Dike made them a delicious meal for dinner and they all dined happily as one big family.
They sat in the sitting room, talking, joking and arguing until very late that night when they all retired to their respective rooms.
Jovani stayed awake as usual, waiting for his wife to sleep off before he did. He watched her turn restlessly, complaining of discomfort in her stomach, and assured her she was going to be okay.
When she eventually fell asleep, Jovani switched on his laptop and began to do some work. He planned to send some mails before going to bed, at least, to catch up with some jobs he and missed out on since this wife became pregnant.
He had just sent the last mail of the lots when he noticed his wife moving restlessly under the duvet again, even though she was still sleeping.
βThis girl wonβt sleep well until she feels me by her sidesβ Jovani thought with a smile and shut down his laptop, put away the papers into his suitcase and walked over to the bed.
He switched off the light and lay besides his wife under the duvet, but felt a wetness as soon as he pulled her to himself.
So many things ran through his head. “Could she have lost control of her bladder and bed wetted? What is this wetness on her pyjamas?” He thought
He traced the light switch and flickered it on, then a scream escaped his lips, waking Sophia and even her mother that was sleeping in her room.
βOh no! This is not happening!β Sophia screamed as she woke up to find herself in a pool of her own blood.
Her mother rushed in to meet her wailing while Jovani was bawling like a baby, both looking at something under the duvet. She walked closer to the, and took a look.
A look at the bed, and she knew exactly what had happened. She felt like crying, she had tears in her eyes actually, but she refused to add to the shouts of cries in the room.
βGet up Jovani, get up quickly and help her. She must see a doctor immediately. This isnβt the time to cry, but a time to actβ Mrs Dike said firmly.
βMummy, I canβt believe this is happening. I canβt believe Iβm not going to beβ¦β she was saying but her mother cut her short.
βBe quiet Sophia. This isnβt the time to be negative. Youβre going to be alright. Please do not speak again.
βJovani, will you stop crying already? Get over here and help me take her to the carβ she ordered firmly.
Jovaniβs legs wobbled under him as he lifted his sobbing wife, and carried her to the car, his own tears dropping on her body as he walked to the car
How Jovani was able to drive all the way to the hospital that day, would remain a mystery, because as he drove, the sound of his wifeβs cries filled his ears, making him so pained that he sometimes didnβt remember to look at the road ahead of him.
βDrive on, will you! Iβm here with her, and the doctor will soon be giving her the help she needsβ Mrs Dike told Jovani, seeing how worried he was about Sophiaβs cries of pains, and how he was losing concentration.
They soon arrived the hospital, and doctor Fred who was already on standby, waiting to attend to them in the emergency unit, got the nurses wheel Sophia into the theatre.
Jovani was left in the lobby with his mother in-law who was doing everything possible to call him down, but he was as restless and worried as he could be.
His parents rushed into the hospital lobby a few minutes later, having been told of the development some moments before Jovani drove out of Mrs. Dike’s residence.
The two woman sat crying and praying while Jovaniβs father walked him out of the lobby, towards his car.
Chief Jonah knew exactly how his son was feeling, and seeing how he was reacting, he knew he needed to speak with him.
The last thing he wanted was to have his only son deΓ₯d because of something he could easily take care of.
βListen son, I know you may not like what I have to say. You may even think so p0orly of me after what I have to say, but as a father, I owe it to tell you this truth.
βYou need to be alive to be able to be Sophiaβs husband, and with the way youβre fretting and making your heart race so wildly, you may do her more harm if she wakes up and finds you in a worse health condition.
βSo, youβre going to have to take a grip of yourself and be a man. I love your mother way more than you think you love your wife, but from the beginning of our marriage, I knew what I was going into because I knew of the health challenges she had, and I had to tell myself the hard truth.
βI need to be alive to be able to remain a good husband to her. So I never allowed her constant crisis get to me.
βWas I worried about her? Yes, I was. But I didnβt let each crisis make me lose a pint of blΕΓ΅d because either knew my worries wouldn’t be beneficial to her in any way.
βYour wife has only had a little challenge, something the doctor is still working on to arrest, and youβre literally kΓ―lling yourself here!
βTake a grip of yourself and be a man son. A man isnβt one who has two testicles and a shaft, but one who is able to stand firm and weather the storms of life, keeping his head high.
βMy wife and I didnβt come out of all these trying days victorious because I was crying like a baby, no! I was standing firmly by her sides as a man shouldβ chief Jonah admonished his son
