Sophia and Jovani returned to Sophiaβs mum that night to inform her of their plans to get married. She had been waiting and expecting the news to come, but she felt the engagement was kind of impromptu.
Nevertheless, she gave them her blessings, and wished them fruitfulness when they eventually get married, but to her surprise and satisfaction, Jovani had told her he wished to have a court marriage with his woman before his parents returned from their trip abroad.
Jovani knew there was no way Mrs. Dike was going to allow him go ahead with his plans if she knew for a fact that his father had rejected Sophia, and that Kelly had said Sophia had very little chances of bearing children.
So he got Sophia to agree with him on the plans to keep things to themselves until they were legally married.
Sophiaβs mum had however insisted that he allowed her speak with either of his parents before she could append her signature on their wedding certificate.
βMy father is a very busy person, and I know heβd be only too glad to welcome my wife when he comes around, but for now, weβll have to go ahead to put things in the right perspective.

Jovani submitted the necessary papers to the marriage registry department and waited for the compulsory three weeks required by law, his heart thudding on the different occasions things almost got out of his control.

Jovani’s father sat dumbfounded, unable to fully process all that had just happened. He didnβt know how Jovani had found out about his moves, but most importantly, he didnβt know his son had the side of him he just showed him right there.
Engineer Philip, his friend tried to console him, and even became convinced that the young man should be allowed to follow his heart, but Clara was bent on pushing the old men to go ahead with the marriage.
Jovaniβs mother was tired of sitting and staying quiet while her husband made a mess of himself, so she got up, and without fear or favour, informed Clara that she was never going to be a party to forcing her son into marrying someone who had once thrown his heart on a stone, not caring how much it could shatter.
