There I stood looking at the dead body of a woman I had only known for barely an hour.
I didn’t want to go with her but I didn’t want her dead. If I had just gone with her before the goddess came I could have saved her, I should have done better. If I had just pleaded with–
“Come with me son” I turned to the goddess who had a wicked smile plastered on her face like all was well.

“No” my voice was faint, I barely recognized it.

“I said no, I will not come” I said firmly.
“Why not”
“You killed her, you didn’t have to kill her”
“You are worried that I killed a human?” Her tone was taunting, I don’t like it.
“I am human” I said it, something I never believed I would say as I never thought myself as human.
“Come with me, I won’t ask again” The river boiled, warning me of her anger but I didn’t care.
“Are you going to kill me like you killed her?”
“As my son your punishment for disobeying me would be worse than death”
“You’ll have to find me first” I removed the ring on my left hand, my key to my first home and threw it inside the river and before she could do anything, I disappeared.
Disappearing was the worst thing that could happen to me because after I severed all ties with the Marine kingdom untold hardship came upon me.
I had to drop out of the uni because I had no money to continue.
I started squatting with a friend that was a thief so to survive I had to be a thief. Being a thief priced easy for me because of my powers but no matter the amount I stole it was never enough to attend to all my needs.

I examined the blade of my knife and without thinking twice about I prepared to stab myself but stopped halfway when the goddess appeared to me for he first time in almost two years.
