π§ Out Of The Water Part Six:
By afternoon the next day everybody knew what happened to Chizaram or they thought they knew.
She was found by neighbors who had heard her screams, when they came she was unconscious in the pool of her blood. Of course by then I had already disappeared. They rushed her to the teaching hospital and the doctors said they was a little chance of survival.
Now I was standing in the large hall where agents like me who had been sent into the world would give a monthly report on their missions and complain about things.
As expected I was the first to give my report. I walked with my shoulders high to the center of the hall. The goddess was sitting up, front and center. I took a deep breath and gave my report making sure to add that I would accomplish my mission no matter what happened.
“Play it on the screen” the goddess ordered, her anger vibrated through the hall.
On the left side of the hall, a picture of Chizaram laying on the bed with an oxygen mask and IV cords stringed from her hand to the life support machine. The doctor was talking to her sobbing parents. The sound of the IV machine going off rang through the hall.
I hung my head. I had failed and I was waiting for my sentence.
For a moment it was so quiet until the goddess shot up her seat and clapped her hand in jubilation, everyone joined in cheering even though they didn’t know why she was happy. I also had to join in my confusion.
“This is even better. Look at them, filthy human beings blaming God as usual when they are responsible for their own sin” She said.
I looked at the screen and saw Chizaram’s father cursing God. He is a pastor and his daughter’s death was making him loose faith. His wife was by his side crying.
The thing they didn’t know or had forgotten in their pain was that a little believe that their daughter wasn’t dead was enough to bring her back to life but instead they wasted their strength cursing the only one who could resurrect her.
I guess this was better than the initial plan of manipulation.
After getting my flowers for a job well done I was rewarded with more powers and was sent back to the human world.
Soon Chizaram was buried and forgotten about and I continued my work for the goddess.
Over the years I became a respected person both on land and in the water.
Until one day, everything changed.
