My name is Jenny, I am 20 years old I grew up in a rural area,my mother made all efforts to take me to school but I didn’t make it thru Bcz of the mysterious death of my father, my father worked in a mine and in our village once your husband is a mineworker he doesn’t last long
I remember everytime my father would come home in a bakkie full of groceries and surely that made lots of people angry although they never showed us,my neighbour was an old woman who had a daughter quite older than me but we were so close,we did almost everything together,one day it was month end and my father called at night telling us that he is on his way home,we were super excited at home then my mother instructed me not to mention any of the news to anyone at the village including my friend, i agreed
I later took a bucket to fetch water at the well close-by, I met my friend at the well and she told me that she wants to relocate to the city and she would like me to go with her and search for a job, i was sad and I said to her I wish I could come along but I don’t have money,she told me to ask my dad,i don’t know what happened but I know I told her that I will definitely ask my dad since he is on the way as we speak
Without wasting any minute she pulled her bucket and suggested that we leave immediately,i didn’t think of anything,i followed her and we went our separate ways,i got home and prepared my dad’s favourite meal as I waited patiently for him to arrive,looking at the time none stop but no sign of him,it got dark and dark
I ended up sleeping, in the morning my mom got a phone call from unknown caller and went to town leaving me at home,I did house chores, warmed up the food knowing well that my mom is going to fetch dad at the town,i went to my friend’s house and met her outside looking at the tree,she wasn’t blinking,i called her severally but she seemed distance,i tapped her on the shoulder,it took her about 30 seconds before she could answer.
