After my prayers I stood up and wiped my tears with my T-shirt before going back downstairs. Ami was still waiting for me the time I went downstairs, i was shocked and I asked myself “why was she there all this times waiting for me?”.
“Ami you are still here waiting for me” . I let the words follow out of my heavy mouth. Ami didn’t answered me she was just staring at my sad face.
“ what Happened?” was the only question that escaped from her voiceless voice.
“ nothing my dear I just miss my parents and siblings” I replied.
“why are you lying to your conscience it did not fit your status at all” Ami spoke like a goddess who knows when I am lying or telling the truth. I had no choice but to tell her the truth.
After telling her everything she came closed and held my hands saying “ I am with you all throughout this race”. To me I couldn’t believe an India girl saying this, I am a total stranger in there land but she welcomed me with a open arm, I was not worthy to be treated like a family but they took me as one, especially Ami she took me as her own, treated me like a brother, to be truthful I even fell in love with her but I think she really took me as a brother.
The next day I woke up very early when others were still sleeping. first of all I said my morning prayers then went downstairs and wash the dishes cleaned the entire house although it was stressful but I did it just to say thank you for there good works. After everything I went on to had my bath and prepare to go to the university.
Aunty Aditi told me “for now I will be going to school from the house, later they will rent apartment for me near the school”. I wore my jeans and shirt, with my shoes. After dressing up I went downstairs just to meet the family praying, I have to wait for them to finish there own morning devotion.
After they were done with there morning devotion I went and greeted all the elders in there normal way, they wanted to give me there offering but I refused with a smile, they understood so they didn’t feel bad about it.
“ are you ready for school?” Sania asked.
“ yes I am” I replied wearing a big smile.
“ wow this your dressing is one in a million” Ami uttered her words of adoration.
“ thanks” I said blushing.
“ I hate niggros” Damini uttered her words of abuse
“ me too I hate niggros they stink” Bimala said with a mocking smile all over her face.
“ that was harsh of you people” Sania tried correcting but they refused rather they walked out hissing at me.
“ Don’t mind them I don’t know what has gotten into them” father Ahuja said to me while tapping my back.
“i understand uncle” I replied.
“prakash will take you to school” Aditi said to me, she then turned to prakash “ make sure he reaches the school gate very fast.
“okay mother ” prakash replied.
“won’t you eat?” aunty Aditi asked
“ nope I won’t I am okay” I replied.
“ who cleaned the entire house?” Aunty Deepa asked.
“It was me ma” I replied.
“ in this house women do the work of cleaning the house not men, not to talk of visitor” Aunty Deepa said looking at me.
“am sorry ma next time I will behave” I said.
“ you shouldn’t have done it” aunty Aditi added
“ not a problem I am addicted to this” I said.
“ visitors don’t do it so don’t next time”
Ahuja said while walking out.
“okay sir” I said smiling.
prakash was older than me but in maturity I was more matured than him.
“I know you will be the one to take care of him” Sania whispered to me. I smiled and shook my head.
I and prakash took the bike which was more faster than the car, i said this because of the go slow on the road.
Prakash dropped me off at the school gate in no time. bye I waved at him as he drove out after dropping of.
I took a walk into the school following other university students. while I was going a car drove pass me, it almost hit my left leg thanks God that I smartly step aside
I raised my voice at them, they had to come back and look who was talking seeing my colour.
it was three guys that was in the car. they alighted from there car and stood looking at me.
“ You almost hit me with your car ” I spoke out not minding my colour or were I came from. Students were staring at us.
“ Ansh show this niggro what you can do” one of the guys said
“Akshay this is not the time to do so I will let this idiot go for now but will deal with him if he tries that shit again” Ansh replied.
“ Raman let’s beat this guy up” Akshay said.
“ let’s hid to Ansh advice” Raman replied. they were just talking to each other while my blood was boiling.
“Next time I will do you something you won’t ever forget, but watch out we will be your worst nightmare in this campus” Ansh said. They went back into there car and drove off. while I was there dusting myself, someone tapped my back, I turned to see the most beautiful damsel in the world, I haven’t seen such a beauty in my entire life.she was really beautiful she has a cat eye when she smiles her dimples shows, I fell in love with her at first site but I kept it to myself. she wore there usually dress as all young girls use to wear but she was like an angel to me.
“Sorry for the way he behave”. she said looking at me. At first I thought she was not talking to me.
“no problem” I replied staring at her.
“ Am Devya and you?” she asked
“ am Raymond by name, what a beautiful name for a beautiful damsel like you” I said.
“thanks you” she replied looking down with her legs tapping the ground.
By that time I have totally forgotten the whole incident focusing my attention on the damsel in front of me.
“alright I must be on my way I have a lecture on my medical course today” she said.
“ I am a first timer here please take me to that place you are going” I said.
“ wow me too am just a beginner too what is your course?” she asked.
“ medicine and surgery?” I answered.
“me too I am doing the same thing come I will show you” she said taking my hand in hers. That moment I felt as if I was in heaven.
we both reached the lecture hall, at first I was not bold to enter so Devya had to enter first followed by me.
On seeing me the lecturer changed his topic it was as if he had issues with black people. I was never in my life humiliated like that, a lecturer insulting me to over 150 student I was so ashamed of myself.
After the lecture I went and sat down on a stairs looking at myself. “Is black a curse?” so I asked myself. I was lost in thought that I never felt the presence of Devya.
“ sorry for what happened in the hall” she said.
“ No probs” I replied.
“ he hate black people that’s why anytime he sees one he will humiliate him or her like that, no black has ever pass his subject because of his attitude towards them, they never see any reason to enter his lecture hall too, so many black people have gone out of the school because of him” Devya said looking into my eyes.
“ I will be the last and the first to pass his subject” I said to Devya.
While I and Krishna were still discussing Ansh came into the beautiful moment with his guys.
“ what are you doing with this niggro?” he asked
“ what did you think am doing here” Devya replied. not wasting time he dragged Krishna, I wanted to react when I received a blow on my jaw managing to stand up I received another one. Devya was begging them to leave me but they wouldn’t listen rather all three of them have me the beaten of my life.
I could barely stand up, blood was coming out from my nostril,my eyes got deemed because of the blows. I fall flat on the ground Krishna left Ansh and came to my rescue I knew it hurt Ansh. My first day in campus went very sore I thought it will be good but it was the worst day of my life, Because of a woman I was beating to scorn.
Devya helped me to get on my feet, immediately I Carried my phone and called prakash to come and pick me up. in my mind I vowed not to talk to Devya again so that I won’t receive another beating.
