π« My Stay In India CHAPTER FOURTEEN: π
Immediately I got to the house I rushed to the toilet in my bedroom. It was hell for me. I regret eating the food they prepared for me. I visited the toilet all through the night and the next day I will have to go to school I have lectures by 7:00am. In the morning I couldnβt walk well I was exhausted after the long night of visiting the toilet regularly. If not of something I could have slept in the toilet. I sluggishly prepared myself for school. Even coming down the stairs was hard for me.
β where are you going to?β prakash asked
β am heading to schoolβ I replied
β donβt you know today is Sunday?β Kabir asked
β ohh!β I was short of words β I totally forgot, but I can still go and read my book in the library or better still I want to go to churchβ
β you can go then, prakash will direct youβ elder Ahuja uttered while cleaning his hand β we have no business with church or Christianity, but to you you have showed me that you are serving your God very wellβ he point to prakash β take him to worship his God in this house every one is at liberty to worship his own God especially visitorsβ
β thanks sirβ I bowed in gratitude
β.no need to bow to me it is only God we bow toβ Elder Ahuja uttered.
Prakash immediately took me to a near by church. The way the church conducted there things was totally different from Nigeria pattern. At first I was confused but as time goes by I got acquainted with their pattern of worship. I will also say this is the first time I have visited a worship center since my stay in India. Not as if I donβt want to worship God but I was at first afraid to tell them I want to go to church. But now every Sunday I must go to church. To me Christ is my all.
After the service, I went home only to see the whole family praying to their gods. I didnβt bother greeting them, I never wanted to interrupt their prayer section. I went straight to my room. I waited for them to finish their prayers I was very hungry and I wanted some money to use and cook food. How to ask sha is a big problem to me but I got to gather courage and ask.
Because the person sponsoring me always give money to them for my up keep and sometimes send me money for some things I have to do as a guy man. For now he hasnβt send any money so I had to depend on the family for it. I just have to try my luck.
After a while Ami came to my room to call me that Elder Ahuja is calling me. I went down to meet him very quickly.
βRaymonβ he said looking at me β I came to your room last night and saw how you struggled with yourself, you visited the toilet regularly?β
I was astonished and at the same time was grateful to God for making him to see my predicament.
β I did sirβ I said putting on a childish face to gain pity.
β there is a Nigerian market 125km away, get your type of food stuff, come home and cook it. Maybe it will help youβ elder Ahuja said taking money from his wallet.
Before answering I was like β before no be for house I go cook amβ if someone can know what one thinks God! there will be problems in our everyday life even the righteous man that claim will stay in the house till Jesus comes.
After a while of nonsense thought I replied with thank you sir.
He handed over the money to me and urge Ami to follow me to the market. For the first time I entered public transport. It was fun, add with Ami jokes gosh I felt like I was in heaven on Earth.
Sometimes I used to think like now am in India going to school. That poor boy with rag bag. My maths teacher called me geonigeria. Thatβs instead of geography whish is description of the earth I was called geonigeria a replicate of Nigeria. An embodiment of Nigeria. Some students called me all sorts of name. But now am in India.
I was diligent to my study not only that I was diligent to God and most especially I had a United family.
I never gave ears to what people said outside because my family is United. Now am in India studying medicine and surgery. I believe if my sisters goes to school they will ask is your brother back?. A guy that two square mill a day is a problem. My sandals was tired together with aboki tread just to use it and go to school. My fellow classmates called me one eye God because my trouser which has a hole at the back. If I think back tears always full my eyes. But story don change now.
Ami and I bought all I need for cooking, after we were done with the shopping we went back home to start my food preparation.
Ami indeed helped me in preparing the food stuff while I did the cooking. I cooked Afang soup and Egusi soup. When I wanted to eat I put the Afang soup on one side of the place then the Egusi soup on another side. I prepared my eba. Gosh come see me as I they devour, I no eat again I devour the food. Ami tried to eat but couldnβt.
After I was done eating I arranged the plate and washed it, arranged the kitchen as if no food was cooked in there.
β uncle is calling you ousideβ Sania said while I was about to come out of the kitchen. I thank God I was done with what I was doing. I went to see him. He was seating on his usual chair.
βsir you called meβ I uttered being at my best behaviour.
β yes I did, have a seatβ elder Ahuja said steering at the stars
I quickly sat on the chair that was by my side. I sat by his right hand side I make sure I was very close to him to hear what he will say because he does not like to stress himself when talking. Where we sat can be termed or call garden. It was a nice place.
βHave you seen the stars In the skyβ he said pointing towards the sky β they are all married to one anotherβ
βyes sir I can see it, itβs beautifulβ I said looking at the sky. I canβt remember the last time i stay outside only looking at a sky. When hunger is my companion.
βI like you Raymonβ he said looking at me β you are a young boy of integrity, honesty and of good character. A young boy with a promising futureβ
β thanks you sirβ I said looking at the grass below
β donβt be afraid feel freeβ he said putting on a smile
β okay sirβ I replied.
Actually I was really afraid.
β if you are to marry any of my daughter who will be your choice of woman?β he askes
I was short of words because all of them are beautiful. To tell the truth Ami is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. She is more beautiful than Krishna and Devya add together. She has this small dimples. When I say she is cute am not exaggerating. she is an angel. Not to talk of Sania that one is wow. If not that I am composing myself I could have slept with her that day I was flogged. Add with Poonam that one is a damsel. I get confuse because Poonam is more beautiful than Ami.
She has a gap tooth not only that a long hair fair in complexion and when she dress oh men na heaven let loss. I found it difficult to answer him because I donβt have any words to answer this question.
βsir I will choose emmmm I will chooseβ while I was contemplating on what to say prakash called elder Ahuja that he Ahuja has an urgent call which he need to answer. That was how I got out of that situation. I was relieved. Immediately I went straight to by room climbed my bed and slept off to avoid disturbance.
Prakash POV
What where they talking about. Is like My grandfather have become so fond of that Nigerian boy. Anytime I see them together I go gaga I hate that boy. I have to put forth a dangerous plan that will make grandfather loss hope in this Nigerian boy. Let tomorrow come first. He will receive something bigger than what he expect. (Devilish Smile).
Ahuja POV
Raymon is a good boy. Very diligent to his studies. He is never a trouble maker unlike my son who thinks i donβt know the kind of business he is doing. He refuses to go to school. Almost all my children want to inherit my property. But see Raymon he is hardworking though not my son but his zeal for this his study has made me to support him in what he is doing. I wish my sons will be like him, it could have been a better thing to behold.
Krishna POV
(Walking round her room)
I hope Raymond is okay. I wish I helped him, maybe this is why he has been avoiding me just to make sure he is not beaten again by my fiance Ansh. But I love him, I love Raymond. Maybe tomorrow I will tell him sorry and tell him to stay away from me. I wonβt ever tell him my feelings, my friend already loves him very much, I canβt betray her like that. I will stay away from him to end this madness.
(Tears rolling down her cheeks in thought of Raymond).
