LATER THAT NIGHT…

Honestly, with what happened to me last semester, I don’t think I should have another boyfriend.

I was riding my bicycle, on my way back home, after delivering pizzas and bumping into two different type of people. It’s a miracle my bike is still okay.

I arrived home, parked at the in the garage we had for nothing because we have no car.

After watching some movies with my mom, I went straight to my room, took my HP laptop and did some research on Grand Lake Academy and the scholarship information.

A WEEK LATER – 7:00 IN THE MORNING

I wore my black tank top, orange floral long skirt and jeans jacket, combed my hair and wore my crochet T-strap sandals and wore my black purse.

I left home, took a taxi and went.

Yeah, I already applied that day, today’s is the exam, I studied hard like ever even though am already smart. I just need the scholarship.

I arrived in front of the school giant gate.

I took a deep breathe as I walked into the school, admiring the beauty of the school.

I entered the Exam Hall and whoa!

I sighed as I glanced at my form, my seat is number 55, but this place is so big and there’re like 100 seats here, how am I supposed to find mine now? I’ve not started looking for my seat but I’m lost.

“Hi.” A curly hair tall, green eyes girl in pink tank top, high waisted jeans and white sneakers approached me with a smile.

“Hey.” I greeted back.

“I’m here for the exam, just got here and I’m looking for my seat, did you know where number 56 is?” She asked.

I shrugged “I… I don’t know, I just got here too, and I haven’t even find my seat.”

“Wait, are you here for the scholarship too?” She asked.

I nodded “Yeah.”

“No way.” She scoffed “I wish we both win so that we can be best friends. I really need that scholarship.”

“Your parents are poor?” I asked.

“Well, no.” She shook her head.

“Oh, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay, my mom is an accountant and my dad is a doctor in a private hospital. It’s just I’m middle child, my elder sister just got a job as a computer analyst, my younger brother is now a professional gamer and I’m the only odd one in the family, with no talent. My parents and siblings are making fun of me and comparing me with our good successful teenagers better than me, so I decided to gain scholarship to this awesome school. If I don’t, I’ll feel underestimate as usual.” She said, looking sad.

I feel bad for her, but I see she talks alot.

“I hope you also win the scholarship too.” I said.

“What about you?” She asked.

“Well, I only live with my mom and we don’t have enough money so I decided to gain scholarship.” I explained.

“Oh, I hope you win too.” She smiled “I’m Sierra.”

“Reyna.” I retorted as we shook our hands.

She seems nice, but I don’t feel like making another friends. Maybe I should give this a try.

“Morning students.” A blonde woman in blue suit stood in front of the class “Welcome to Grand Lake Academy Scholarship exam, Please, look for your seats and have it, the exam is starting in 2 minutes.”

“Excuse me.” A man in formal suit attend to me and Sierra “Come with me.” He said as we followed him and he directed us to our seats.

Sierra gasped as we seated “No way, can’t believe we’re seating next to each other. This is exciting.”

“Yeah.” I fake grinned, trying to play along.

“So here’s what you’ll do…” The invigilator explained the procedures on how to operate our computers and we obeyed.

“Understood?” The woman asked.

“Yes ma’am.” We all replied.

“Good, you know the rules, don’t cheat, no food, and so on, the exam starts now, you have just 3 hours.” She said and we begin our exam, typing and clicking endlessly on the computer.

I zoomed and parked my black and red LA Ferrari 458 Italia at the school parking lot, took off my black blazer and wore my black and red sport jacket.

Not that black and red are my favourite colours but the car matches my sport stuffs so…

I came out of the car and walked into the school hallway as everyone begin to chant and shout like I’m some celebrity.

I scoffed ignoring those funny chants as I head straight to my locker, opened it and took my chemistry book.

I know I only see her once and it’s been a week but I can’t stop thinking about the pizza girl. She’s so amazing, she’s been on my mind everytime.

She shows up in my dreams, daydreams, imagination, everywhere I really wish to see her again, in person.

“Hey pretty boy.” I heard my best friend’s voice.

I closed my locker and smiled at her, wearing her scorpion cheer outfit “Morning Natasha.”

We made our secret handshake, we grip and pump our hands about 2 times, snapped our fingers 2 times and gave each other a fist bump.

“Yay, I finally got it today, for the first time.” Natasha cheered.

“Yeah, at least you didn’t pinch me today, now today you’ve proof your smartness.” I scoffed.

Natasha frowned at me looking annoyed “Ouch.”

“My bad.” I shrugged.

“Yeah, whatever. Give me your maths homework so I can copy.” She said, holding her homework papers.

“Why didn’t you do yours?” I asked.

“Because I was getting my hair done, didn’t you see any difference?” She asked, swinging her straight hair ponytail.

I nodded “Yeah, sure, here’s my homework, don’t copy exact same thing, alright?”

“Sure, whatever.”

I gave her my maths homework book and she kept it in her pink backpack.

“Hey, do you know about the stupid scholarship exam your dad’s talking about? It’s today.” Natasha said.

I shrugged “So?”

“Well, what if some commoners starts to come to our luxurious school with wealthy people like us?” She asked, looking irritated.

“I see nothing wrong with it, in fact I see it as a good idea for them.” I replied.

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes.

She smiled at me “So, wanna hang out this weekend?”

I shook my head “Nah, me and the team are hanging out for some barbecue.”

“Oh, well… Anyway, let’s you’re gonna help me do the stunting today.” She demanded.

I frowned “You know I’m not a cheerleader and I’d be busy with basketball practice.”

“Well….”

Riinnggg!!! The school bell rang and we went to our various classes.

Natasha and I have been best friend’s since childhood, she’s my only friend, I’m an introvert but I relate with my basketball teammates.

We became friends because our parents are, so they’re hoping if we grow up, we’ll become more than friends but I don’t think so.

I don’t know why but Natasha is not really my type, I mean she’s beautiful, cute, sweet and caring but… She’s not still my type.

We didn’t even feel anything for each other except friendship.

Urrgghh!!! Why can’t that jerk notice that I want to be more than friends? I like him in fact I love him ever we begin to develop puberty.

He just left me like a useless thing. I love him but I can’t tell him, I’m not that cheap.

“Ouch!” A red haired girl wearing glasses bumped into me as her books dropped “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” I scoffed as we both bent and carried the books together at once.

She bent her head and smiled as she walked away nervously. She’s cute but no for me. I just wish I can see the pizza girl again.

I sighed as I walked away.

I wish I know where she works, I would have seen it on her shirt but I was too focused on her beauty.

Who the f×ck is that nerdy bitch trying to get close to my Tyler?

I watched her entering the girl’s bathroom, good thing Tyler has went to his class.

I clenched my fist as I followed the foolish nerd into the bathroom, she’s washing her dirty hands.

“Hey!” I shouted.

She feared immediately she saw me “Natasha!”

I went to her and grabbed her hair roughly “Ow!! Ow! Ow!” She cried like a baby wolf.

“Who do you think you are trying to get close to Tyler?” I grunted.

“I’m… I’m… Sorry, I didn’t bump into him on purpose, I just… Argh!!” She cried as I landed a huge slap on her stupid face.

“Next time you watch your step or else.” I pushed her away.

I spotted her books on the wash hand basin so I carried them and fling them away.

“Ugly brat! You’re no even match for the amazing Tyler, fool.” I insulted her and walked out of the bathroom angrily.

No one dares to come near my Tyler, except me, he’s mine and off limits.

TWO HOURS LATER

🧡 REYNA’S POV 🧡

“To honest, that test is kinda easy.” Sierra scoffed as we’re walking out of the exam hall.

“Yeah, I just can’t wait for our result on online.” I grinned happily.

We were informed that the best students who passed the exam would be sent an email this weekend which means we’d be given scholarship.

It’s been a week since the school resumption and the school won’t accept any latecomers. So I have to be super early that day.

I’m super confident that I’d be selected as one of the winners. I hope so.

A WEEK LATER – SUNDAY NIGHT

I was in my bedroom, resting on my mattress starring at my laptop on the bed auspiciously.

They’re supposed to release the result yesterday but it got delayed for some reason, so they postponed it till this night.

I hope they release if soon.

I closed my eyes tightly as brightness took over.

“Reyna, it’s almost midnight, come on, go to bed.” Mom groaned.

Oh, it’s just mom opening the door, my room was in the dark for a while.

I groaned back “But mom… Wait.”

My heart raised as my laptop beep and a message popped in. From Grand Lake Academy?

I clicked on the email and checked, it’s the list of students selected as the winner and my name is Top one?

“Oh my God!!!” I jumped in excitement.

“What’s wrong?!” Mom asked in fear.

“I’ve been given a scholarship!!! Argh!!!!” I cried in joy.

“No way!! Argh!!!!” Mom joined and hugged me tightly as we started jumping happily.

“I got in!!! I’m gonna resume tomorrow morning?!!!!” I yelled, still jumping till we got tired.

I shedded tears of joy and sniffed “I got in!!! I’m going to Grand Lake Academy tomorrow morning.”

“I know baby.”

“Mommy, is this a dream?” I cried.

“No sweetie, don’t cry, instead get some sleep you don’t wanna be late for you first day at your new school tomorrow.” Mom said, wiping my tears off.

I nodded happily “Yes, mom.”

She left the room, I went to the bathroom and took my bath, humming happily till I came out still humming happily, wearing my pyjamas, lay on my mattress but couldn’t get some sleep because of the excitement.

I can’t believe I’m gonna attend Grand Lake Academy. Best night of my life.
