π§ My EX Husband Spirit EPISODE THREE:πΈ
I woke up very early the following day.The preparations had already began. The graveyard was being worked on,food was being prepared and the youths helped to clean the plastic chairs after the heavy downpour that had occurred that night
Leaving the room, I went straight to the sitting room and saw the body of my late husband lying inside the casket just then I felt an excruciating pain in my head and immediately I ran out
Damian was coming into the house and unfortunately I almost hit him on my way out and he held me on his arms so that I won’t fall
“Is everything okay Lucy, why are you running as if someone was chasing you?”he asked staring at me with curiosity
“I can’t do it in-law,I just can’t,it pains me for real and I miss him so much, why me?”
“Don’t worry all will be well,I miss him too but we have to accept that he is gone and I want you to know that as your family members we will be with you through thick and thin” he said while he hugged me and at least I felt relieved
I went into the kitchen and found our neighbours who were preparing food for the day
” Good morning Lucy, have a seat as we serve you tea” Vanessa one of our immediate neighbours said
She served me tea as they continued preparing the food.Being with them I felt relieved that people care
I took the breakfast of tea and some chapatis then went in,took a shower and dressed in a black dress ready for the funeral
The mourners had already arrived and the event started with the viewing of the body,it was all written in every one’s face that the place was filled with sombre mood
I was sad too because I had lost a loved one that I had not spend enough time with and I had not given him many children as we had promised ourselves,we had only one child who is only three years old and very innocent
Sam was too young to have died at an early age.He was only thirty two years of age,a man who was respected in the community and who had a vision. He was a doctor and for the short time we had been together he had given me the good life that I had been hoping for as we got married five years ago
“From the soil we come and to the soil we shall return” Father James said as he took a lump of soil and threw it on the casket that had been lowered six feet under
The father prayed and then told us the family members to threw in the soil to pay our last tribute to the Late Sam
The youths took turns and lowered the soil into the grave before we planted the flowers and everyone left at their own pleasure,Sam was gone and I had hoped that I had a shoulder to lean on but that wasn’t the case
The neighbours and friends that day showed me the importance of the community but things started to change just some few days after Sam had been laid to rest
Slowly by slowly the people I had hoped would be there for me and give support started to see me as a burden to the family and to the village
Two weeks after Sam was buried and everything was getting back to normal is when the worst began.Sam’s two brothers started to quarrel over who was to take the late Sam’s property share,it was as if I wasn’t even existing and it was indeed paining
The relatives, friends and neighbors had all forgotten about Sam and I was left alone to comfort myself.
