𧑠SOLAβS POV π§‘
Andy and I have been dating for quite a while now. It was a good thing that we got transferred to Chicago, because I was beginning to feel uncomfortable around Chuks.
Every time he looked at me, I felt he was looking too much, and when he made a joke with Andy, I felt he was forcing himself to stay around. Nothing was thesame again, after that night he tried to kiss me.
I felt so bad that night he asked me to be his girlfriend because I was expecting him to tell me Andy made him his advocate, and not trying to fondle my brΓͺast and make me say yes, even after telling him I just liked him as a person.
He must have relied so much on the clichΓ© that women are moved by touches, because he began to make attempts to make me change my mind, and tried to touch my breΓ£sts. He even tried to pull my hands to touch his phΓ llus, to see how much effect I had on him.
If getting involved with someone was a casual thing for me, if love is something one can just decide to have for someone, then I would have decided to give Chuks a chance, after seeing how hurt he was to see that I am in love with someone else, and that all the sènsuous things he was doing was irritating me, rather than appealing to my desires.
But like the saying goes, you donβt teach the heart whom it loves. And because I already love Andy with my all, my heart has no space to accommodate anyone else.
After we arrived Chicago, I practically moved in with Andy because I couldnβt bear to stay a day without him.
He sure knows how to make my knees buckle when he kisses me, but I was careful not to let things go beyond the level it should, it’d be a shame if we ruined the beautiful thing we had going for a few moments of passion
My body always wanted more each time he touched or kissed me, but I have always known the place of self control and itβs reward.
Then he proposed the first time, just because I told him marriage was the only reason Iβd let him have me, and I had to turn him down.
I wished he could hang on, I prayed he didnβt fall short of my expectations while I waited for us to be sure of our landing before we leapt, and fortunately, he held still.
My joy knew no bounds when he proposed again, and I gave a big yes, but the concern about his yet to be official divorce with Madonna surfaced in my heart when I thought about how our wedding would be.
I told him about my worries and asked him to do something about Madonna’s marriage to him, but I also had to make my moves to see how I could help him resolve the issue faster because even I, was beginning to have a hard time taming my desire for him.
A few calls and my cousin who is a renowned lawyer came up with something. We had been on a conference call with some of my other family members who had a thing or the other to say, and he promised to make some calls and get back to me.
Ade, my younger brother had teased me none stop about me having to come to Nigeria to go look for Madonna in Sokoto, or signing an agreement to pay him half of my salary every month for him to do it for me, making everyone laugh me to scorn about finally choosing a man, and settling for the one that has a nΓ sty complication.
βDonβt mind them Sola, Iβll find a solution soon. Iβll just make a few calls and get back to you. There must be something you can do about this situationβ Yinka my cousin had told me.
βOkay Yinka the good guy! Youβre always trying to be the one the girls favour. So apart from finding that girl and getting her to sign the divorce papers, is there any other thing we can do?β Ade attΓ£cked Yinka.
βOga, if you want to find her, if you want to be the one who locates a girl that has gone to an untraceable address in Sokoto and get her to sign a divorce papers, then be my guest.
βGo ahead and search for a needle in a haystack, but Iβm not ready to work hard, I want to work smart.
βSola, Iβll get back to you on this, I promiseβ Yinka said before he left the conference call.
I talked some more with Ade and the others still trying to explore some other avenues of breaking through, before we said our goodbyes.
When Yinka called me like he had promised he would, I was drying my hair, so I had to turn on the phone speaker and placed my phone on my dressing table to talk with him. I couldnβt believe what he had come up with.
Andy could divorce Madonna without her being present to sign her own columns. Yes! Andy could be free from all encumbrances the legal union between him and Madonna bound him to without having to look for Madonna.
I screamed in excitement, gave Yinka my thanks, and bid him goodbye before I hung up and dashed out of my room to go speak with Andy about the good news.
Andy wasnβt in the sitting room when I got there, so I rushed into his bedroom to give him the good news, but he was looking at me in a way he had never done before.
βHey, whatβs up with you? Why are you looking at me like youβve seen a soldier from an opposing side?β I asked him, shocked to see the hΓ΄stΔ«lity in his eyes.
βSola, if Iβm facing a soldier from an opposing side, itβll be much more easier for me because Iβll be combat ready and not be taken unawares.
βFighting a battle without knowing youβre at war is one of he craziest things that can happen to a man.
βFor how long have you been cheΓ ting on me Sola? For how long have you kept me in the dark, making me believe youβre different from the others?
βDid you think Iβll never find out? Oh Sola, youβre not even as smart as I anticipated, because you should have known that I would always be on the alert after being beaten twice. You should have known that you can’t fool me for too long
“No! Andy can’t father another child that isn’t his, so he can’t let a girl fΕΕl him again, no matter how pretty faced she is!” Andy told me, making my head begin to spin.
βWas that for me? Were you talking to me? Oh sweet Jesus, this isnβt happeningβ I cried, my heart pumping blΕΓ΅d in an unprecedented amount.
