Angela turned deaf ears on me completely, I felt really embarrassed, and the passers-by turned to look at me, some murmured to why she left me angrily.

I walked slowly, as tho my strength was withdrawn from me.

I got to my desk and sat down, and thought about what had just happened between Angela and I.

“Who is her man for crying out loud”. I only thought, that was Caleb’s car, I didn’t even conclude, not to talk of saying it to her face.

“And why was she even angry with me as if I snatched her man from her. My head wagged because of the numerous questions trotting in my head.

Moments later Angela walked up to me to apologize for what happened the other time.

“Of course I didn’t have issues with you, I just couldn’t get why you acted up that way” I replied and we got along again.

We chatted for a while, and she requested for my phone to check something, because her phone network wasn’t functioning, according to her.

I handed over my phone to her freely, not minding if she had any ulterior motives

She went through my phone for a while, and suddenly put up a hard look on her face.

She stopped smiling and gave me a suspicious look.

I asked her what the problem was, she refused to say a word , but walked out forcefully as if she saw some terrifying things on my phone.

I picked up my phone to see what got her in that mood, but she had returned it back to home screen.

I minimized it , but she had cleared all used apps.

I became more confused and extremely frightened.

I stood up and went to her office to ask what was wrong, but I met her covering her face on her desk and crying heavily.

I wanted to go talk to her, but I allowed her to get herself before I could ask her anything.

Hours later, I went back to her office to see her, but she ordered me out of her office and threatened to report me to my boss if I don’t mind my business.

I went back to my desk with a heavy mind, trying to figure out what I had done wrong. “If it was still about her man or another thing entirely”.

” But since she had refused to talk to me, I will mind my business”. I murmured with a teary eyed.

Days later everyone started avoiding me in the office, including Liberty my closest friend, except those who she probably didn’t spoil my name to.

I learnt to maintain my space as well, and went about my business all by myself.

Some weeks later, a rumour came to me that, Angela had informed people in the office that “I am having an affair with her man”.

“That was really the reason everyone avoided me, because they didn’t see any reason they should relate with a boyfriend snatcher like me”.

I tried calling Angela on phone and texting her to convince her that ” I don’t even know her man, talk more of having an affair with him”.

” And if I have any idea about her man, I won’t stoop so low to hurt her”.

She didn’t reply to my text messages nor to my calls, she didn’t talk to me at work either.

If anything happens, and our name appears to work together, she will work everything out aggressively, and sometimes leave the work for me to finish up.

I tried reporting, but I couldn’t, because I didn’t want to be any one’s downfall.

Almost everyone in the office avoided me and only gave me a ” good day attention”.

I wasn’t pleased with all that happened, and I approached two of my colleagues to talk to them, but they didn’t want to have anything to do with me outside “our company’s tasks”.

One day, I took a bold step to confront Angela

I intentionally waited to see Angela and ask why she was avoiding me.

I walked up boldly to where she was standing beside a black G Wagon.

“Angela can I talk to you”. I said

Angela sighed at me and turned to face the person who was in the car.

When I peeped to check, it was Caleb and our eyes met.

I stood there tensed, Angela noticed that Caleb too had his eyes fixed on me.

She became more aggressive “what!!. What is going on here”. She said raising her voice on Caleb.

I walked past them and went my way, and Caleb too zoomed off, leaving Angela to her fate.

Angela stood there thwarted. Her mind boiled to 95% degree and she picked her phone and dialed my line.

“You evil girl, I’ve always known that you are dating my man. And today God has disappointed you by letting the cat of out of the bag”.

“You are the reason Caleb is not giving me attention, you are the reason Caleb is not looking my way”.

” Despite the things I do, the gifts and flowers I sent to please him, you are the stumbling block on my way”.

” I will show you who I’m made off, I will show you my true color, I will let you know that, it’s not everyone you see that you will play with.

She continued ranting, and rendering insults on my family.

I ended the call on her as I couldn’t condone such.

She called back and I kept muting her calls, she sent different text messages and I still didn’t reply to any of them.

I thought of what to do, but no idea clicked my head.

I picked up my phone and texted Caleb.

“Please Caleb, tell your girlfriend that we are not an Item, let her know that there’s nothing going on.

” And who is my girlfriend”? Caleb replied to my message with a frown emoji.

I kept calm as I didn’t know what to say to him.

Angela didn’t stop rendering insults on me and my household, and I had already regretted ever knowing her.

Angela sent Liberty and other of my coworkers to me to talk to me to leave her man alone.

But I explained to them that nothing was going on between us.

None of them seem to believe what I said except Liberty and Ik who saw the honesty in me and consoled me.

I cried uncontrollably anytime I remember the insults Angela rained on my parents.

A few days later, it was a Saturday morning, after I was done with my washing. I sat down peacefully in my living room to watch television.

Angela appeared unannounced at my house with another lady who I assumed was her partner.

She stormed in and challenged me so hard, that I started crying

She called me all sorts of names and described me with anything on her mind.

When she was done with the insults, she opened a bottle of water that was in her hand.

I was scared to my bones. I tried to run but the two ladies pinned me down and emptied the substance in the bottle on me.

The cold substance went down on me and my soul left me.

She laughed loudly at me and promised to return with acid next time if I don’t leave her man, as what she poured on me was just water.

I was unconscious for some minutes and when I got back to life, life was down on me.

I got tired of living and devilish thoughts struck my mind.

I picked up my phone and texted Caleb to get hold of Angela.

I pleaded with Caleb to spare my life and call his girlfriend to order.

Caleb didn’t give any ear to my plea, neither did he reply to any of my text messages.

I called my colleagues at work to beg Angela to stay away from me, and promised her that I didn’t have anything to do with her man and will never think of such.

My world was gradually changing, and coming to Lagos was one of the biggest mistakes I made.

Angela didn’t stop her threats. She will appear and disappear in my house as she likes.

With several warning notes on my doorsteps, and several gun threats to my neck.

I was tired of life and I decided to write a letter to quit my Job.
