Caleb started adapting and living his promises to me.
Each morning with Caleb was a blissful one, I never regretted accepting him back into my life.
Caleb made sure I never lacked anything, he was everything I prayed for actually.
**. **. His cousin’s birthday arrived and he conducted a pool party.
We made plans to go for the pool party together, tho I knew I wasn’t going to enter the water because I was already 7 months gone.
We got to the party and everywhere boomed.
Different people from different categories came to celebrate with his cousin, and Caleb’s baby mama was one of them.
His cousin offered us a special place as he didn’t want me to stress myself because of the pregnancy.
We got some drinks and I chose juice over all drinks.
I didn’t want anything that would intoxicate me.
I would give Caleb a side eye so he won’t get out of control with the drinks, and each time I did that he would sit up and smile.

The party was going smoothly when Caleb went on his knees and brought out a diamond ring to propose to me.
It got everyone’s attention and they started hailing Caleb, of course he was popular.
I stretched out my left hand and he inserted the ring on my digitus quartus.
People started screaming, not because of the regular proposal …
It was because Caleb was very popular, and he proposed to a heavily pregnant woman.
I was overwhelmed to know that I will be officially married to Caleb.

**. We were still celebrating and shouting all round when Caleb’s baby mama walked into the place.
Caleb became really uncomfortable immediately when he sighted her.
He acted restless and it became obvious that I noticed it.
I asked him what the problem was and he looked at me like he was lost on something.
He came closer to me and whispered ” babe can we leave this place?
I was shocked to hear that, I asked him why we should leave, and he said nothing that he just wanted to leave the place, since we were done with the engagement.
I didn’t buy the idea and I needed to know what the problem was.
I insisted and told him I wasn’t going, else he should tell me what the problem was.
He pointed his finger in a particular direction and I didn’t still get what he was trying to show me.
I tried looking out to see, yet I didn’t still understand, until he whispered in my ear.
“Benita, my daughter’s mother is around”. He said.
“It struck me like a bomb and I spirit went down immediately.
” How did she get here, did you invite her? I asked.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s because she’s friends with my cousin”. He added.
” But she is not against you, and does she know about our engagement? I asked again.
“That is what I really do not know” he responded.
“Then, there’s no cause for alarm, ” why are you saying we should go, ” is she God? “And why are you even afraid of her, “why will her presence scare you, “did you wrong her in any way?
I didn’t give Caleb a chance to talk as I kept bombing him with questions.
” Okay fine, fine, we are not leaving, anything for you babe”. He said trying to convince me with his smile.
” Now you come, why would you be afraid of a woman like me”. I said and we laughed.
**. **. We weren’t done talking when Benita came to us to say Hello to Caleb.
She saw me and was shocked, immediately she changed her look.
“Hi”, she said with a cold tone and a wave of hands to me.
“Hi I replied. And she sat close to Caleb, caressing Caleb’s laps and giving me a hating look.
I kept quiet and wanted to see what will happen next.
Caleb dropped her hands down and told her to stop.
She insisted and continued, Caleb stood up with anger and shouted ” can’t you see I’m with my fiancee?
“Are you so blind that you can’t see my fiancee and give her the respect she deserves”. Caleb said angrily.
” Wait!, what are you insinuating?
“So who am I to you, a baby mama, born and go? Really. Benita said hitting the table.
” I didn’t mention “born and go”, I am only telling you that I have a fiancee and she is pregnant for me. We are getting married soon so get that and know peace. Caleb said raising his voice another time.
“So now I get, I really understand, but trust me, I am bringing your child for you. Do you think your money is enough?

“So I’m gonna bring your daughter to you. She said.
” And you, she said turning to face me.

I sat there moody, my heartbeat increased and my head spun.
“Benita stop this bullshit, leave my fiancee out of this, don’t talk to her in that manner”.
Benita burst into laughter and everywhere went cold. She hit the table and left angrily.
Everyone stared at us and murmured differently.
Tears started dropping from my eyes
I sat there cold and heartbroken.
I couldn’t move any part of my body as I was too weak and traumatized.
Caleb sat close to me and held my hands.
“Babe, this is why I said we should leave, because Benita doesn’t have shame”.
“She can display her madness anywhere she sees herself”.
“Please let’s just leave here, I will explain everything to you when we get home”. He said.
I looked up and some people had gone back to their swimming and some started drinking and removing their eyes from us.
I followed Caleb slowly as he held me by my hand and we left.
We got to Caleb’s house, I laid down on the bed still deeply in thoughts of what had transpired.
Caleb came to me to plead and explain what happened between him and Benita.
“She wasn’t ready for marriage, she lost the expensive ring I got for her because she didn’t value it”. He said.
” She is a drug addict, worse than I, that’s why she is mad like the way she displayed”.
” She contributed to my rough life right from when we were in America. He added.
I didn’t let him finish his explanation when I had pity on the child and told Caleb to bring in his daughter, that I was going to take care of her.
To provide her with motherly care and train her the way she ought to be.
Caleb looked at me with a surprise face.
“Are you sure of this babe? He asked.
” Yes, I am sure, please bring her, I can feel that, that child is not properly raised and I don’t want her to be corrupted”. I said.
Caleb looked at me and hugged me tightly,” indeed you have a heart of gold”, he said and hugged me again.
A month later, and I was almost due, and we started printing and sharing our wedding cards.
Fixing it to be a week after my delivery.
Caleb brought in his daughter and it seemed like the worst decision I’ve ever made.
