I thought about what Caleb said and I still couldn’t understand what was happening.
“How can Caleb be my own boss in my work place, his father even owns this estate I stay. And to say he stays two buildings away, is what’s getting me insane”.
” Like how, how can you stay in the same estate with your girlfriend, two buildings away, for crying out loud, and you are even her boss in her work place, yet you can’t let her know”.

I said with heavy heartbreak and tears gushing down my eyes.
“God I just pray nothing happens to Tayo, he should not die please, cus it won’t be funny. I said cleaning my tears.
I tried calling Tayo’s line, but Caleb picked.
” Hello Debbie”. He said with a very cold tone.
” Please how is Tayo, I hope nothing happened to him”. I asked not minding what Caleb would think.

” Okay thank goodness. I said as I hung up.
Immediately Caleb called me with his line and I didn’t pick, he kept on calling and calling, still I didn’t pick.
At about 9pm, Caleb appeared in my living room, I was shocked to see him because I had locked the door.
I asked him how he managed to enter, he opened up that he had his spare key.
It was down on me that Caleb didn’t mean well for me.
“How can you be hunting me Caleb or whatever your name is”.

“Just pray to your God that Tayo should be fine, nothing should happen to him, else, you will rot in jail”. I said vibrating and stretching my fingers to Caleb’s face.
This time I didn’t find it funny with Caleb,I couldn’t accept the fact that he left me without words and suddenly he appeared to destroy someone I had hoped on.
Caleb stood still without a word, he looked at me with a strange face.
“Do you mean you and the so called Tayo don’t have anything in common? He asked.
” Go and ask your village people, I said throwing my face to the other side.
“How could you be so wicked, so you even had guns and other weapons to harm people, you are even a drug addicts. Who knows if you are even a kidnapper or a murderer?
” Is this how you will treat I and my family if I mistakenly say yes to you. I said not minding who Caleb was or his father’s rank.
I made sure I gave him the heat boiling in my mind.
Caleb stood for a while without a word, he went down on his knees to apologize to me.
I stood up pushing him to one side and went inside my room and locked the door.
After some minutes I came out and Caleb had left.
I was scared that Caleb might harm me of think evil against me.
I quickly arranged my things to get going the next day, I had planned to use the money I had to start a new life.
I thought of how Tayo will feel if he recovers and find out that I’ve gone. It was really because of me that Caleb attacked him every time.
I made a plan that as soon as I get in touch with Tayo, I will apologize deeply and then disappear.

But I made sure he didn’t see me, if I sense or notice that there was somebody at the door, I will find a place to hide until he goes back.
He even came with his friends to beg me, but I made myself invisible in my own house.

A week later, Caleb cleared up the hospital bill and Tayo was discharged, tho he couldn’t walk normally, Caleb got him a pair of Crutches to assist him walk well.
I reached out to Tayo and this time he picked, I quickly apologized to Tayo and begged him to forgive me.
Tayo exhaled deeply over the phone and told me he had heard.
I further told him my plans to travel back to Porthacourt to start my life with the pregnancy.
I told him I didn’t want Caleb again, and that I didn’t want him to pass through hell in the hands of Caleb because of me. I explained to him crying.
Tayo told me there was no need for that as he had planned to come see me.
I was scared, so I told him to stay back, that I didn’t want any problems between him and Caleb.
He only laughed over the phone and told me not to be scared.
He said everything was going to be fine and I shouldn’t worry.
Truly I was worried, because Caleb had not totally left drugs and he still had that psychotic trait in his blood.
**. **. The next day, I left my house very early to book for my seat in the bus that will take me back to Porthacourt.
I walked past my house and I saw Caleb coming towards me, I was frozen.
I stood still and faced down, my brain went far and I did n’t notice when Caleb got close to me.
Caleb held me by the hand and started apologizing.
He said all that he had in his mind, still nothing moved me. Not even his sweet and enchanting words.
I refused to look at his face to avoid melting for him again, as he kept saying “Debbie please look at me, i promise we can settle this, just look at me please.
I left him and ran back to my house and locked the door, even when I knew he had the spare key.
I entered the store room in my kitchen and locked myself.
Fortunately Caleb didn’t come looking for me, after some minutes of staying and bearing the heat in the store room, I came out sweating.
I poured cold water on my hair to regain myself.
I tiptoed to my room and locked myself inside.
After a few hours, I heard a knock on the door, I thought it was Tayo, because Caleb on a norms would just barge in.
I went to open the door behold, there, was Tayo, Caleb and the young man he came with the other time.
I was so shocked to see them, and Tayo who couldn’t walk well was using his crutches.
I went back to sit on the couch, leaving them to decide what they wanted.
The three men came in and sat down.
They all waited for who would break silence, and after some seconds of staring at each other, Tayo finally broke the silence.
“Hhmm, Deborah, I know you may be wondering why we are here, why I am with Caleb especially. He said looking in my direction.
” Caleb here has found out everything, because I told him everything he needed to know”.
” And he is seriously regretting his actions, and he’s pleading with you to forgive him. He added.
“Yes please Deborah, I know you don’t know me, but I must confess that Caleb my cousin here has been saying a whole lot of good about you”. His cousin said.
I opened my eyes wide in shock when I heard him say he was Caleb’s cousin, he was as fresh and cute as Caleb. Contrary to what I thought.
” He is my cousin, my younger brother I would say. He added.
“So please, mistakes are bound to be made and be corrected”. I would really love it if you accept him back and let’s settle things”. He said.
**. I threw my face to the other side, as I was already tired of Caleb’s rough life.
I crossed my mind that I was never going to accept Caleb into my life so he won’t injure or kill me some day.
After ghosting them for some minutes, I opened up to them that I was never going to get back with Caleb.
I narrated how Caleb had shown me his character in the recent happenings and that alone made me reject him.
I wanted to voice more when Caleb asked with a sad tone.
“How about my unborn child, our unborn child. He said crying”.
I looked at him and almost had pity on him, but I stood on my words.
“I will take care of my child by myself, you never wanted this child, you wouldn’t have abandoned me if you truly needed this child.
” Anything that happens to us is none of your business. I said walking out on them angrily.
