π§π My Addiction Episode Eleven:
He patted me on the side and said in a hush tone, “let’s make cool money. What do you say?”
I heaved a deep sigh and answered, “Yesβ¦ would be a very unreasonable thing to say. Look, I don’t want to make any decisions that could jeopardize my future, I understand you’re trying to look out for me but I’m sorry Iβ¦I can’t join you in this.”
“It’s fine,” he responded.
“I just don’t want to hear in the future that I didn’t carry you along, it seems you’re allergic to money but I’ll let you be,” he said, staring at me from the sides of his eyes.
I kept silent.
“Very soon, I’ll pull up with my Benz, goodbye to poverty.” Kelvin said with a smile over his face.
He was about to start feasting on what he brought back and I quickly interfered.
“Guy, I’ll also eat o.”
“You want to eat what my sugar mummy bought for me?”
“Why not?” I asked rhetorically.
“Your conscience no worry you?” He said, laughing.
A lot happened that evening, and after eating all the junk food Kelvin brought back home, I felt very weak.
I was about to retire to bed when I suddenly remembered about Adele.
“My goodness!” I gasped.
How could I have forgotten, I hurriedly picked up my phone and purchased airtime.
I resent the message to her, and I continued staring at my screen until it was marked as sent.
Kelvin was already asleep, I decided to get some sleep too but my eyes couldn’t shut themselves as I was eagerly waiting for a response from Adele.
Lying face up on the bed, thirty minutes were already gone and there was still no response.
“Maybe I should give her a call,” I thought to myself.
I quickly brushed the thought aside, it was almost 11pm, she would probably be asleep.
I shut my eyes, but I was having a hard time falling asleep. I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about Adele, I just hoped she wasn’t mad at me.
I was overwhelmed by my thoughts and I couldn’t hold myself any longer. I picked up my phone and put a call through to her. It rang but there was no response. I called again but there was still no response.
She was probably asleep, but I still wanted to call her again. Just one more timeβ¦this time it didn’t ring, could it be that she had blocked my line? I hoped otherwise.
I dropped my phone beside me and laid my head to rest. Adele filled my thoughts, and I couldn’t get sleep even though I needed it badly.
I found myself thinking of her until I finally dozed off.
THE NEXT DAY
I woke up to the buzzing sound of my alarm clock. It was 6am already, I had to start preparing for classes.
Kelvin was fast asleep, I ignored him and went ahead to prepare for the day.
I took my bath, dressed up and was ready for classes.
I was clad in a blue jean and white t-shirt. I wore a woody cologne, I relished the manly fragrance it gave me.
Kelvin was yet to wake up, I took a glimpse at my wristwatch and it was past 7.
I went ahead to wake him up, I tapped him and he yawned loudly like a little baby.
“Guy won’t go get ready for classes?” I asked.
“I’m tired abeg. I need restβ¦just help me write my name on the attendance list.”
“Bro, you’re missing class frequently these days. You should try to curb it; at least attend classes today⦔
“David you’re disturbing me, I was having a good sleep before you woke me up. I don’t feel like attending classes today, besides I have somewhere important to be,” he bluntly replied.
“It’s fine, enjoy yourself.”
I hung my bag and started my way to classes.
It was a very hectic day, I couldn’t go a minute without thinking of how angry Adele might be.
I saw her a few times during classes but she constantly ignored me.
F*ck! I was slipping off on my game, the last thing I wanted was the silent treatment.
As soon as classes were over, I tried calling her but the calls didn’t go through. I concluded she must have blocked my line.
“Thank God!” I gasped.
I was lucky enough to come in contact with Michelle, but I didn’t feel that usual excitement. It was Adele I wanted to see.
“Hey!” She called, poking me in the chest.
“Hey! Michelle, what’s up?” I asked.
“I’m fine, how are you?”
“I’mβ¦I’m ok. Please, have you seen Adele?”
Just then, I saw Adele. Our eyes locked into each other and she immediately shifted her gaze from me.
She turned back and started walking away.
“Adele!” Her friend called.
“We were searching for you,” Michelle said.
She had no option but to walk up to us.
“David was searching for you⦔
“Hey!” I waved, but she swiftly ignored me.
“We need to get going, I’m in a haste.” Adele acted like I wasn’t even there.
“Adele,” I called softly.
She still didn’t respond.
“Adele, David is calling you.”
“And so?” She retorted.
“Adele, why are you sounding like this? I’m sorry if I have made you angry in any way,” I pleaded.
“Babe, I’m going home. We’ll talk later.”
Adele walked out on us!
“I’m really sorry for her behavior, I don’t know why she is pissed off. I’ll see you later.”
She chased after her friend while I watched from behind.
I knew I had really messed up, Adele was annoyed at me.
I mustered courage and decided to go to her place.
I placed a soft knock on the door , I waited some seconds and the door finally pulled open.
Adele was startled to see me, she was about to shut the door but I briskly held it.
“I’m sorry Adele, I know you’re mad at me but can I at least come inside so I can explain myself.”
She paused for a few seconds, then she let me in.
“I’m really angry at you⦔ she said.
“I’m sorry, I never meant to rile you by my actions.”
“David, you ignored me and you went along withβ¦with my best friend.”
“It’s not what you think, there’s nothing between us.”
“Are you sure, because it seems like you’re just feeding me lies.”
Tears rolled down her cheek as she finished her sentence. I got emotional and I didn’t want to see her cry. I brought her close to myself and rested her head on my chest.
“I love you Adele, way more than you could imagine.”
“Look me in the eyes and say it.”
I turned to her, and there was a quiescent silence that followed.
I stared deep into her eyes and whispered, “l love you.”
Suddenly, she placed her lips on mine, and our tongues went to a war of enchanting romance.
I pressed her back onto the couch and pulled her close again, kissing her lips while one hand fumbled with the buttons on her pants. Our bodies pressed together and our arms were around each other.
I moved my hand to her waist, the kiss was getting intense.
Just in the heat of the moment we heard a knock.
“Adele, Open Up.” The voice flamed.
