It was a Friday afternoon and the teacher wasn’t in class which was a strange thing. He was a Math teacher and Mr. Kunle, as he was called had up until that moment, never missed a class. It was an opportunity for me. I was the class clown and I always loved getting the class laughing.
I went to the front of the class and started gesticulating, acting and pretending like I was Mr. Kunle, to the amusement of the class. There I was, repeating his favourite lines and telling his favourite jokes as the class roared with laughter.
Suddenly, there was dead silence. Everyone had become suddenly quiet. I didn’t know the reason for the sudden silence but I kind of enjoyed it, for I thought I had now gotten everyone’s attention. With that in mind, I upped my game but surprisingly, no one was laughing. I turned to the door to find out why everyone was staring in that direction and, you guessed right. Standing by the door with his hands folded, was Mr. Kunle with a stern frown on his face.
Now, I understood why the whole class had suddenly become quiet. Needless to say, I ended up cutting grass and also earned the nickname, Mr. Kunle Jr.
