πΉ Rachel pov πΉ
As I was about to exit the kitchen, I bumped into someone. I screamed. Suddenly, the lights were on and I could see the person who was standing in front of me.
It was Ashton.
I put my hand on my chest. My heart was beating really fast.
I thought that a killer had come to kill me, just like how they show in movies! Thank God, it’s only Ashton!
He came towards me, held my arms and asked, “Rachael, are you alright?” He was concerned about me.
I nodded my head and said,
“Yeah.”
“What are you doing here in the kitchen at this hour?” he asked.
“I was feeling thirsty and I came here to drink water,”I told him.
“You could’ve switched on the lights,” he said.
“I know but I wasn’t able to find the switch because of the darkness.”
“Okay,” he said.
“Let me leave you back to your room.”
We both went together to my room. When I was settled in my bed, Ashton said, “Rachael, if you need anything then let me know. My room is just next to your room.”
“Okay.” I nodded and smiled at him.
“Goodnight,” Ashton said and smiled.
“Goodnight,” I said to him.
And he switched off the lights.
Next day…
I heard my name being called by a familiar and sexy voice. “Rachael, Rachael.”
I slowly opened my eyes and the first thing that I saw was Ashton’s face.
He said something to me but I didn’t listen to him because I was busy looking at his lips. The way his lips were moving was hypnotizing.
“Rachael?” he asked.
“Yeah?” I said in my sweetest voice.
Ashton smiled at me, “Michael is on the phone,” he said and I was back from my dreamland. He handled me his phone.
I took the phone from him and sat on my bed. I put the phone near my ear and said to Michael, “Yo.”
At this, Ashton and Michael both laughed. I looked at Ashton. He looks so good when he’s laughing!
“Hey dude,” Michael said to me, trying to talk “gangsta” with me.
“So, you were still sleeping?” “Yes,” I answered.
“At least wake up on time when you’re living at someone else’s house,” my brother said.
“I thought to wake up early but I wasn’t able to,” I told him.
“And where is your phone? I tried calling you but you weren’t picking up. So, I called on Ashton’s phone,” Michael asked.
“I think that my phone is in silent mode,” I said.
“Okay. Now get up lazy head. Do you realize that it’s twelve in the afternoon?” he asked.
“What?! Did I sleep that late?” I asked. When I was sleeping, I thought that I had time.
“Yes. Quickly get up now. When will you have your breakfast? Or lunch?”
“Okay, okay. I’m up now!” I said to Michael as I put my feet on the cold floor. The floor is freezing! I felt as if I had put my feet on ice! “Good!” he said. I could hear him laughing,
“By the way, why did you call me?” I asked him.
“To wake you up,” he said and laughed. When he finished laughing, he said, “I was just kidding. I just called to ask you that how are you but I guess you are fine.”
“Yeah,” I said.
“I should go now,” Michael said to me.
“Don’t you want to talk to Ashton?” I asked.
“I already talked to him when you were busy sleeping,” he said. I could totally make out that he was making fun of my sleeping habit.
Don’t worry. One day, Ill also get a chance to make fun of you.
“Take care, Rachael,” Michael said. My brother cared about me.
“You too, Michael,”” I said. And we ended the call.
I looked at Ashton, who was leaning against the door.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” I asked him as I gave him his phone back.
“I came to your room to wake you up but you were looking so beautiful while sleeping that I didn’t feel like waking you up,” he said with a smile.
Okay, let me make it clear to you. He wasn’t flirting with me. He was being kind and polite.
He will never flirt with me because I’m his best friend’s sister.
“Get ready and meet me in the sitting room,” he said with a smile and exited the room.
I got up from the bed and went to the bathroom. As I looked in the mirror, I was shocked. My hair was looking like a bird’s nest!
And Ashton called me beautiful. He must be joking because there’s no way I can look beautiful with a bird’s nest on my head.
I quickly washed my face, brushed my teeth and showered. I combed my hair. I looked in the mirror, I looked presentable.
I then went out of the bathroom and out of the room and made my way to the sitting room. I sat beside Ashton on the same sofa.
“Why did you lie?” I asked him. I tried to be funny.
“What lie?” he asked, a little confused.
“That I am beautiful,” I said.
“That you are,” Ashton said with a smile.
“Ashton, I can never look beautiful with a bird’s nest on my head,” I said, trying to act sad.
“Bird’s nest?” Ashton acted confused. “Oh, you mean your hair?” Ashton laughed. He totally saw through my sad act otherwise he wouldn’t have laughed.
“Yes,” I said.
Ashton looked at me and his eyes just caught me in a daze.
“Rachael, let me tell you. You are beautiful and your beauty won’t get affected whether you have a bird’s nest on your head or not. You. Are. Beautiful,” he said honestly and sincerely. I could tell by looking at his eyes.
“I bet many guys must be falling head over heels for you,” Ashton said next.
I resisted the urge to laugh. “No guys are falling head over heels for me,” I told him truthfully.
He just shook his head. “No, it’s not the truth,” he said with a smile and rose up.
He went and stood in front of me.
What is he doing?
Suddenly, Ashton intentionally falls on the ground. I stood up. He turned his face towards me and said, “See Rachael, I have fallen for you.” And he smiled.
I smiled too. I know what he did there. He was just trying to cheer me up, trying to tell me that he has fallen in love with me by making himself fall on the ground. How creative.
I went to where Ashton was lying on his back on the floor and helped him get up.
After he was up, I asked him, “You seem to be in a cheerful mood today. What’s the matter?”
“Nothing,” he said.
“Okay,” I said.
“Oh, I forgot to ask you. Do you want to have your breakfast?” he asked.
“No. Ill straightaway have lunch,” I told him.
“By the way, did you have your breakfast?”
Ashton looked guilty. Why? “I had my breakfast. I was going to wait for you to get up but then my stomach started growling loudly and to calm my stomach down, I had to eat,” he said with a smile.
I laughed at his explanation. “Tm glad you did,” I told him with a smile.
We already had our lunch. We had delicious pasta. How can a person cook such dishes in such a heavenly manner! God, I’m in love with Ashton’s food! He should work as a chef in a five-star restaurant.
Now we were watching music videos.
Suddenly, the video of Justin Tinmberlake’s Mirrors came on the TV. screen. I just love that song! It’s so meaningful.
Ashton stood up and took my hand in his hand. Again, I felt those pleasant tingles.
I looked at our hands and then looked at him, confusingly.
“Can I have this dance?” he asked.
I couldn’t help but smile. But there was one problem. I didn’t know how to dance.
“I can’t dance, Ashton,” I said. He was still holding my hand.
“C’mon Rachael,” he said while pulling me up so that I was standing now.
“Ashton, Ill probably step on your feet,” I started protesting.
“No excuses,” he said and took me to the centre of the sitting room.
He placed his hand on my back and pulled me closer to him. He put my other hand on his shoulder. And then we did what I like to call dance. Note the sarcasm, please.
From the first step, I could tell that Ashton was a dancer and an excellent one! While he continued to dance gracefully, I was dancing clumsily. I don’t know how he managed to handle me.
Miraculously, after a few minutes, I started dancing properly. I was no more stepping on his feet, for which I’m grateful.
While dancing, I didn’t realize that I was so close to Ashton. His face was so close to me that I could kiss him.
I wanted to kiss his kissable lips so desperately! But I was scared of the outcome that my action could result in.
When the song ended, we both stopped dancing. We froze in our positions. We were standing so close to each other. I was looking at him and he was looking back at me.
We were brought back into reality by Ashton’s phone ringing in the maximum volume. We broke apart.
“Excuse me,” Ashton said as he went to get his phone.
Thank the Lord for the phone call!
