π Just One Mistake Episode Episode Nine:
Cindy was full of rage when Chief didn’t call her for almost two weeks. He was wrong for cheating on her with her best friend, yet, he didn’t show any feeling of remorse. She had met Chief when she was at the University; she lost her parent when she was in 200l and had no means of paying her school fees. She took up menial jobs but couldn’t pay; her friend who took pity on her introduced her to prostitution, but she turned it down. Two days before her second-semester examination, she still hadn’t paid; she had no choice but to sleep with a man to get the tuition fee. It was a very tough decision, but she didn’t want to drop out as she would be the first person to go to school in her father’s family. That was how she met Chief Clinton, whom she calls her baby.
It wasn’t in Chief’s habit to keep a girl, but the fact that he deflowered her made him keep her. Since she lost her virginity to him because of school fees, Chief took it upon himself to pay her school fees till she was done with University, he was not going to marry her, but he kept her as his side chic, one he could run to for care when his wife begins to give him tough time at home.
Cindy wore ack-fitted jeans and a black top to match. She wore a black shade on her angry face and made to visit Chief in his office. She told herself that if Muhammed didn’t come to the mountain, the mountain would go to Muhammed.
Getting to his company, she waited for him to finish the meeting he had with some investors before going to meet him. She entered the office and sat on his table, facing him directly.
Cindy: I waited for your call, Chief
Chief: What do you want from me, Cindy?
Cindy: How could you cheat on me with my best friend?
Chief: stop ranting, young lady; it has happened; accept your fate.
Cindy: Excuse me?
Chief: I cheated on my wife with you. My dear, what goes around comes around
Cindy: What boldness! Chief, you owe me an apology
Chief: I owe you no apology. You were supposed to spend one month in Dubai and come back to me, but you chose to spend three months. You were not there to satisfy me, so I had to go with the available option
Cindy: you never told me to come back to you, did you?
Chief: you are the one to apologize to me
Cindy: Chief, you are playing with fire. If you don’t apologize to me and cut ties with Chibaby, I will do what you won’t like.
Chief: like seriously? It seems I have over-pampered you, do your worst.
Cindy: oh, it seems you have forgotten that you used me to get to this position. Have you forgotten that I knew how you killed your brother’s son? Have you forgotten that you planned with Gomez and his friends to rape Dele’s fiancee? Have you forgotten how you tied Dele’s death to his fiancee? It would be good news for the press. Meanwhile, you can’t kill me, legs in high places.
Cindy walked majestically out of the Chief’s office, blowing him a kiss. Chief bowed his head deep in thought; he told himself that if he didn’t eliminate Cindy soon, she might become his doom. He remembered something and smiled wickedly while he continued to work on his system.
Dele burst into tears when he listened to the voice record that his father’s lawyer played for him. The lawyer, in a bid to get the truth of the whole situation, planted a bug in Dele’s office after his Uncle became the CEO of the company. For years, he got no information about Dele’s attempted murder, he had wanted to give up, but something won’t let him.
Some days after Dele visited the prison, he just had this urge to visit Dele’s office and remove the bug to check if they had gotten the needed information. Surprisingly, the record in the bug revealed who was actually after Dele’s life.
