π€· He Is Not My Spec Episode Twelve:
When Clara got home, Mrs. Chika noticed she wasn’t her usual self. Her daughter had always been a foodie so for Clara not to touch her food meant something was wrong with her. Mrs. Chika tried to tell her a story but Clara was just not interested, she stood from the dining and wished her mother good night. Mrs. Chika stood up and went after her daughter to find out what was eating her up. Getting to her room, she was fortunate to find Clara’s door unlocked.
Mrs. Chika: Daughter? What’s happening? I hope this isn’t about Mike.
Clara: not at all, Mom. I just wanted to have some time to think.
Mrs. Chika: If it’s about money, don’t worry, God will sustain us. I was trying to share a testimony with you but you looked uninterested.
Clara: testimony??
Mrs. Chika: Yes, your Uncle called to inform me that your father’s land in the village was sold two days ago for five million naira and the family decided to give us the sum of two million naira while the remaining is to be shared among your father’s siblings.
Clara: (scream in shock) Jesus!!!
Mrs. Chika: I was as shocked as you are. The money was sent to me after he ended the call. I am grateful to God for the kind of family I married into, they are just so sweet, other families would have sat on the money.
Clara: Mommy, I have been thinking, about how we would survive and how to pay Mike his money. He gave me a list of all he spent on me demanding repayment and to think, the cost was over four hundred thousand naira. My God is faithful, we just need to do His will.
Mrs. Chika: Yes ooooh. When you come back from work tomorrow, transfer his money to him while we discuss what business we would invest the remaining money in.
Clara: Awwn, thank you, Mommy. I love you so much.
Mrs. Chika: I love you, too, my daughter. I sense there is something you want us to talk about, what is it?
Clara: Hmmm, Mom, I have been unconsciously thinking about someone in our office.
Mrs. Chika: seriously?? Give me the full gist.
Clara: He is our gateman and the Holy Spirit is telling me that he is my husband. Mommy, I don’t see this happening and to think, I can’t help but think about him.
Mrs. Chika: My daughter has fallen in love ooooo
Clara: Mom! Don’t you get it? He is a gateman
Mrs. Chika: Gateman or not, getting married to the right person is what I am after. He will never be a gateman forever. Your father was a carpenter when I met him but he got better financially before he died.
Clara: Mom, his salary is thirty-five thousand naira, which can barely sustain one person not to talk of two people.
Mrs. Chika: can you trust God in this situation? Just pray for more confirmation and if he comes round, don’t turn him down. Remember the story of the woman who died recently, I know you won’t want your marriage to be like hers.
Clara: hmm, alright ma. I will ask for grace.
Mrs. Chika: it is well with you, daughter. I will join you in my prayers.
Three weeks later, Clara was at her desk working on some documents that her boss gave to her when Mr. Sanni as he was popularly called came to her desk. Clara wanted to discard him with the excuse that she was busy but she remembered her mother’s warning and that of the Holy Spirit.
Mr. Sanni: Good Morning ma, I am sorry to disturb you but can I get five minutes of your time?
Clara: (trying not to look into his eyes) Okay…….. Five minutes it is.
Mr. Sanni: I know I am not sopposed to say this here but I just can’t help it. The thing is that I….I..love you, maaaaa
Clara: (shocked) love??
Mr. Sanni: Ma, it’s not lust. I have been praying to God for a wife and He told me you are my wife but I have been afraid to inform you. Please m’am, take your time to pray about it. Thank you, ma.
