π For The Love Of Vivian EPISODE SIX: π
Aliyah ran down to where the people were gathered. She managed to weave through the dense crowd and finally her eyes saw what had caused panick in the entire neighbourhood.
It was a girl whose physique looked like she was in her teens, her head was cut off and all her genitals were gone!
“Oh my goodness!” She screamed.
Her pupils dilated in shock, it was just like what happened to her only daughter; Vivian. Memories of her daughter began flashing before her eyes, this was exactly how her daughter appeared, mutilated beyond recognition.
She wept alongside everyone there. Hot tears breaking free from her eyes, she remembered when Vivian was still very young; when she was only six.
She remembered when she would take Vivian to the park, watch her play in the sand, smiling gleefully as she built sand castles.
Aliyah remembered when her daughter walked for the first time, she and her husband were cheered up. Their little angel brought them joy.
She knew how much her daughter meant to her and she was overwhelmed with grief. Her daughter was gruesomely murdered in a very similar way and that made her realize that it could be the same person that was responsible for her daughter’s death.
Panick and fear enveloped the entire neighbourhood, and even though no one knew who it was that lay dead before them, one thing was sure; their lives were no more secure. Anyone could die anytime and it was the young girls who were scared the most.
A police van soon arrived the scene, some policemen alighted the vehicle, they motioned at others to give them space as they examined the body.
No one knew who it was, it could even be someone who lived far from there. They wrapped her headless body and were about leaving when some men began raising their voices.
They were fuming at the police.
“You are supposed to be in charge of our security but it seems you people are useless,” a man shouted.
“Yes! They are not even making proper investigation, is it until we all lose our daughters in this neighbourhood!”
“Listen sir,” the inspector interrupted.
“We know what we are doing, you’re not the one to teach us our jobs.”
“Then why are people still dieing, we’ve not seen any questioning by the police and nothing to assure us that everything will be fine.” Mr Timothy added.
“Look Mr man,” the inspector walked closer to him and looked him straight into his eyes and said in a lower tone.
“Whoever is doing this is bigger than you and it will be for your own good if you learn to start minding your business. You should be glad you’re daughter is still alive.” He said with a smirk.
Mr Timothy was in shock, his face was expressionless as he stood rooted to the spot. That was not something you would expect a policeman to say.
Desmond came back home later that evening. It wasn’t dark yet but everyone had locked their homes because of the plague that had befallen them.
Her mother in law was asleep when everything happened and Aliyah didn’t bother a bit about letting her know what took place.
“Welcome,” she said to her husband as he walked in.
“Thank you, the neighbourhood seems quite and empty today.”
“Yeah, something happened.”
“What happened?” He asked with towering curiosity.
“Another girl was killed.”
“Oh my goodness! How? Who killed her? Whose child?”
“She was maimed, butchered like an animal. Exactly like what happened to our daughter.”
“Jesus! Who is she?”
“We don’t know yet, she may not live around here. But the police took her body.”
“The police? They’ve being quite ineffective, and things seem to be getting worse.”
“Exactly my thoughts,” Aliyah said as she gave a deep sigh.
“So… where did you go?” She asked.
“I… I had some business to settle with a friend.”
“Business? What kind of business? I thought we agreed to suspend everything for the mean time because of our daughters death.”
“Yes. But we have to feed and there are bills to pay, how do you expect me to handle it. Look honey, I’m walking on something big, something huge that’ll fetch us millions.”
“What are you working on?”
“You don’t worry, just sit back and relax. Very soon, things will turn around for us, very soon we’ll be filthy rich!” He said loudly.
“I pray so, and I hope your mum will allow me enjoy my husband’s money in peace,” Aliyah said with a feint smile.
“Don’t worry my love, everything will be fine again. Right now, I’m very hungry, I hope there’s food?” Her husband asked.
“Yes. Should I dish yours?”
“Don’t worry my love, you should have some rest. I’ll serve myself,” he said with a smile.
Her husband was pumped up, she had no idea of what business he had ventured into but it was obvious that he felt very optimistic about it. With the way he was smiling and dancing around, you would think he had just won the lottery.
As he left the room, Aliyah sat upright on the bed. She had always been a very smart woman and she began thinking; her husband’s recent behaviour didn’t balance out. And just when all these unexplainable events are happening, he’s breaking the news of how he’ll soon become filthy rich.
Aliyah was lost in thought, and no matter how the events rose suspicions about her husband she forced the thoughts away.
I mean; he is her husband, there was no good enough reason for him to carry out such evil.
Suddenly, she was brought back to reality by the piercing sound of her husband’s ringtone. He must have left it behind before going to have his dinner.
She took a quick peek at the caller ID and terror immediately struck her. She cleaned her eyes with the back of her palm just to be sure she was seeing clearly.
Her eyes were not playing any tricks, she couldn’t believe it!
It read…
