When Patricia made the heart-wrenching decision to call off her wedding with Drake after catching him red-handed with Samantha, a tidal wave of emotions surged through the trio.
Drake, though deeply troubled, felt an uncomfortable mix of guilt, regret, and shame, yet he felt a deep sense of freedom, knowing he didn’t need to make excuses to be with Samantha
But he questioned his own choices and wondered if redemption was ever truly within reach. A part of him still yearned for Patricia, yet, he could feel deep within him, that his body wanted none other than Samantha.
On the other hand, Samantha, while fully aware of the wreckage she had helped create, couldn’t help but feel a thrill of exhilaration deep within.
The realization that Drake was now officially going to be hers, with no other commitments to hold them back, filled her with a sense of victory that she couldn’t quite contain. But she could still see the regret and confusion in Drakeβs eyes.
Samantha looked at Patriciaβs disappearing figure, and a crooked smile danced in her eyes, while her heart bubbled with indescribable joy,a to see that Patricia made things easier for her.
She was so happy with the turn of events, that the excitement bubbling inside her, was almost popping out of the pores of her skin.
Drake blew out cold air, feeling really sorry for Patricia, but he knew his heart was at peace, standing so close to Samantha, and feeling her rub her succulent sisters on his back, while she tried to call his attention.
She made him return into the house with her, insisting there wasnβt need to head to the club any longer.
As Samantha sat down in her sitting room, with Drake to have a heart-to-heart conversation about Patricia calling off their wedding, her words took a surprisingly sharp turn.
“You know what, Drake? Maybe it’s actually a good thing Patricia ended things. If you had gone through with wedding her, I would have done something drastic.
βI would have abΓ²rted your seed growing inside me, and found someone else to be with, someone that would be man enough to go for who he wants, and not who wants him” Samantha threatened, her words laced with bitterness.
Unexpectedly, Drake’s anger ignited at the mere thought of Sam being with another man. He was very furious, and his indignation was mirrored in his words
βAnd whatβs that supposed to mean Samantha? You have been with me all the while, and imagining yourself in bed with another man?
βIs there anything I have ever made you lack, since we started seeing each other?
βHave I ever allowed Patriciaβs existence make you suffer anything?β Drake asked, incensed by the mere thought of Samantha being with another man.
βOh stop it already Drake. I lacked a whole lot. Yes Drake! I lacked the recognition that I deserve, and if youβre asking me all these because you are having plans to go crawling back to her, then you can be so sure that you will keep just her, so I can make someone else, whoβd give me the recognition, keep all theseβ she said, gesturing at her bΕΓ΅bs and buttΓ΄cks.
In a moment of uncontainable frustration and anger, Drake began to berate her, for going so far with her thoughts, when he had already made up his mind to be with her.
βAre you being serious with me now baby?β Samantha squealed excitedly. She saw the smile on his face, an affirmative response to her question, and she began to kiss him excitedly.
They were quite joyful about their freedom to be with each other, with nothing to worry about any longer.
However, as the complexity of their situation unfolded, it soon became apparent that the coming days would be filled with an intense emotional rollercoaster none of them were prepared for.
In the few days before Drakeβs would-have-been wedding to Patricia, Samantha began to make hurried plans to appear as his bride, having convinced Drake to pay her bride price.
Drake was as eager as she was, to put a ring to their relationship, often worried about the possibility of Samantha terminΓ ting her pregnancy, and running after another man, like she threΓ tened to do.
Bruce was completely taken aback when he heard the news of Drake’s impending wedding to Samantha, the very woman that had made Patricia call off their wedding.
It was as if Drake had willingly dived even deeper into the chaos and betrayal that had consumed their friendship.
Bruce couldn’t fathom how his once-trusted friend could choose to marry the woman who had caused so much pain and severed the true friendship and love he shared with Patricia.
Drake got a call from Bruce, inviting him to their usual hangout bar, about two days before the proposed wedding.
Bruce wanted to make a final attempt at redeeming what was left of his friendship with Drake, so as they sat opposite each other, just like before they drank and chatted. Bruce was trying to let his friend recall how far they had come before he subtly introduced the topic
βBruce, I appreciate your concern, but I can’t just forget about Samantha and sort things out with Patricia. I love Samantha! That is the summary of this matterβ Drake said flatly
βCan you hear yourself Drake? Are you even sure everything is still alright up there? How can you love Samantha? How can you choose her over Patricia?β Bruce asked angrily
βAnd why canβt I love her? Because if I recall correctly, you were the one who asked me to switch to her, when I tried to tell you to take her back. So I didnβt snatch her from your hands please!
βAnd about why I chose her over Patricia, it is because nothing compares to what Samantha and I have. We have a connection that is indescribable! I can’t just throw that away because of an entitlement mentality from someone, just because we have dated for a longer whileβ Drake replied calloΕ«sly.
βI feel really sorry for you Drake, because beyond this lΓΊst you have for Samantha, you and I know that Samantha isnβt the kind of woman you will like to have for keeps, especially for something as serious as marriageβ Bruce spat bitterly.
βWait a minute Bruce, are you demΓ³nizing Samantha because you still have feelings for her? Is that why you’re so insistent on me being with Patricia so you can have the chance to run back to her house when you little wife isnβt looking?β Drake said, sounding drunk.
βI refuse to let anger deter me from telling you what you need to hear.
βI wont get incensed and walk away, leaving you to fall deeper into this shΓ¬t, because you of all people know that aside my wife, I no longer see any other person as a woman, how much more someone as dΓͺspicable as Samantha.
βMy past with Sam should not define this conversation because it has nothing to do with what Iβm telling you.
βI only want what’s best for you. Patricia is a great person, and she deserves a fair chance against this Jezebel youβre blinding yourself withβ Bruce said as calmly as he could, in the circumstance.
βYou know what Bruce, I think we should talk about something else, because no matter what you say, I will never let Samantha belong to another.
“The mere thought of her body being in another manβs hands makes me want to lose itβ Drake insisted.
Bruce sighs dejectedly before he spoke again, making a final attempt
βDrake, I wish I can respect your feelings for Samantha, I wish what you feel for her is something divine, then maybe I would have thanked God for you.
βBut I know that what you feel for her is as fleeting as the air, and I worry that you’re closing yourself off to your better possibility.
βPlease, at least talk to Patricia and attempt to sort things out. You owe her that muchβ Bruce suggested.
βThanks for your suggestion, but I have better things to do. Things like, making the final necessary arrangements for my wedding that comes up in two daysβ Drake said, and Bruce could only shrug.
They finish their drinks and exit the bar, Drake still holding onto his determination despite considering Bruce’s advice.
Hurt and disillusioned, Bruce made the difficult decision to severe ties with Drake, recognizing that he could no longer feel comfortable visiting the man who is hell bent to tie the knot with his former flame.
