Bruce stood outside the church doors, his heart heavy with disappointment. Tracy, his beloved wife, had just refused to return home with him because of his motherβs troubles and it troubled him to no ends because it was becoming quite obvious that she was deΓ₯d serious, when she said she wasn’t going to return home wit him.
βMy love, you know more than anyone that I have no way of moving on with life if youβre not in my life.
βI agree that mama has been a thorn in your flesh, but you should also recall that in all of these, I have always been by your sides.
βOkay, forgive me for not ensuring that things were already in the right perspective before I left home, but I was imagining that with the news of your pregnancy, that my mother will let sleeping dogs lie.
βPlease baby, letβs go home already. She canβt decide what happens in her own home, and also decide what happens in ours.
βTogether, we can make her see the need to join us, when she sees that she canβt beat us.
βBut please sweetheart, first things first, we return to our home, and make mama understand that we simply wonβt cower in fear, and ruin the good thing we have goingβ Bruce tried to convince her again.
“Listen, honey, I know you must be concerned about me not going home with you, but I only hope that you understand that I’m doing this for the best reasons.
“I know you love me, so my mental health will definitely mean so much to you. The mama I saw today, the woman that pulled me by my hair, even when she knows that I’m pregnant, isn’t someone I have the strength to face now” Tracy complained
“Come on baby, you can’t be serious now! How can you fear mama, a mortal that much, when you have bravely faced an unforgiving and ΓͺvΓ―l spirit for so long?
“How can you even imagine yielding to Mama’s threΓ ts when you have gallantly withstood Uloma and her tΓ΄rments?” Bruce asked his wife
Tracy knew he was right. She also knew that she was most probably going to need life support, if Bruce accepted her decision to stay away from her, but she just couldn’t see herself going home with Bruce, when she knew that his mother would be waiting for her.
Plus, she felt a strange kind of peace in the church. Although nobody had spoken to her, or offered to help her speak to God, she had experienced a kind of visitation that her inexperience in the christiandom didn’t let her comprehend
“I understand you honey. I know you’re right. But about going home, Mama’s fear isn’t the main reason I will I know I won’t leave here this night. Something remarkable happened today when I stepped into the church, beaten and downcast,” Tracy began earnestly, hesitatingly approaching her husband.
“After your mother chased me out of the house, I found myself wandering aimlessly, seeking solace from the chaos. And then, unexpectedly, I stumbled upon the church.
“Stepping inside, a newfound sense of peace washed over me, like I’d never experienced before. The weight on my shoulders seemed to lift, and I felt connected to something greater than myself.
“I believe I need to stay here tonight, to learn how to pray all night, seeking God’s help and guidance like I saw the congregants do a while ago. It’s an indescribable feeling, a feeling that I can’t ignore. I hope you can understand and support me, my love. Please go home, you can’t stay out here in the cold all night with me” She said pleadingly
Bruce stood his ground with determination, insisting on staying with Tracy inside the church. He couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her alone out in the cold, especially after his own mother’s actions had been the cause of their current predicament.
Looking into Tracy’s teary eyes, he softly explained, “I understand that my mother went too far, and that I didn’t protect you enough from her
“But Tracy, I can’t just leave you here. I won’t be able to sleep knowing you’re out here alone, freezing. We’re a team, and I’ll be damned if I let anyone tear us apart like this. Please, let’s face this together, no matter how tough it gets. We’ll find a way.” Bruce’s words echoed with unwavering love and support, assuring Tracy that they would weather this storm as a united front.
She didn’t see how she could convince him to do otherwise, so she simply allowed him stay, feeling quite happy that he wasn’t looking as disturbed as she had imagined that he’d be with her decision to be in church, after what happened the last time with the prophet
Tracy and Bruce stood among the congregants in the hushed atmosphere of the church, joining them for a solemn vigil.
As they watched others engage in fervent prayer, their hearts filled with both curiosity and trepidation.
They couldn’t help but recall the countless nights where Uloma’s unforgiving spirit tormented their lives, relentlessly haunting their thoughts and nights.
However, to their astonishment, that night was different. Uloma’s presence was conspicuously absent, leaving Tracy and Bruce in a state of bewildered relief.
The preacher mounted the pulpit at some point, and began to speak energetically to the congregation.
“My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today I stand before you with a simple message that calls for a transformation within our hearts.
“It is a call to thirst, to yearn, and to long for a one on one relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“For when He gave up His life on that cross, the symbolic curtain in the temple was torn in two, signifying a profound truth β God has given us direct access to Him.
“Yes, my friends, we no longer need an intermediary to intercede on our behalf, for we can approach the Almighty God with our prayers, doubts, and questions.
“It is with great astonishment that we come to realize that the Creator of the universe can hear us, that He delights in our desire to seek His face, and that He longs to have a personal conversation with each and every one of us.
“I understand that a lot of you are shocked to hear this good news, especially since most of you are used to having people marΓ uding as the only link between you and God, but take solace in knowing that the God of all creation is waiting eagerly to hear your every word, to answer your deepest queries, and to unveil His marvelous plan for your lives.
“So, my brothers and sisters, I charge you with this: Thirst for that one on one relationship with God, for it is an open invitation that surpasses anything this world can offer.
“Embrace this truth, for it has the power to transform your life and bring you into an intimate fellowship with the Almighty. May we all seek Him with a fervent passion and humbly approach Him as children of the living God. And my prayer for you this night, is that He reveals Himself to you in a marvelous way” the preacher ended
In that moment, Tracy felt a newfound clarity and determination, as if something within her had changed. She watched as others skillfully poured out their souls to God, and in the depths of her being, she yearned to experience that same connection.
Desperately, Tracy and Bruce clung to God’s promises, holding on to them with an unwavering faith, pleading for the strength and guidance to overcome the demΓ΄ns that had haunted them for far too long.
As Bruce grappled with his fears and shattered dreams, a sinister plot unfolded in the shadows. His own mother, fueled by a poisonΓ²us mixture of jealousy and anger towards Tracy, had taken matters into her own hands. Distorting her love for Bruce, she saw his wife as the source of all their misfortune, labeling her a wΓtch.
Unknown to Bruce, his mother had sought the help of Doctor Jude, to tear them apart and severe the bonds of love that bound them.
As Bruce poured his heart out to God in the sanctuary, unaware of the treΓ cherous plan unfolding behind the scenes, his mother made secret arrangements with the Jude, believing that her actions were righteous and justified.
The night wore on, mixing whispers of desperation and prayers of hope. Bruce, oblivious to his mother’s malicious intent, held tightly to his faith, silently pleading for divine intervention to mend the disturbing crack his mother was trying to create in his marriage.
The congregation remained united, their hearts intertwined, hoping against hope for a miracle that might restore their shattered lives.
But as midnight approached, the threads of destiny tightened, threatening to unravel all that had once been hidden for so long.
Bruce and his wife gloried in their new found faith, holding fast and praying with all fervency, as they hoped against hope that being their last resort, He would come to their rescue.
At dawn, Bruce didn’t need to ask his wife to head home with him again. She was feeling so victorious already, and after the much she hard from the preacher that night, Tracy was so ready to face whatever stood on her path.
Before they got home though, Mrs. Ikenga was fully prepared to make Tracy make a run for it, whenever she saw her son
