Tafeko was talking with his wife, his attention divided, and Ozonge decided to take advantage of the distraction.
He reached for his immobilizer, his major weΓ pon that had always made his prey remain helpless whenever he wanted to take out an opponent, and recalled that he had already used it on Tafekoβs wife.
He shook his head in regret, then reached for a large animal bone he found beside him, and lurched at Tafeko, aiming to hit his head and take him out.
But Tafekoβs wife saw him and screamed, calling her husbandβs attention to his attΓ ck, and Tafeko dodged in the very last second, making Ozonge miss his hit.
He charged again, this time, engaging Tafeko face to face. His head was blΓͺΓͺding from the cut he got from the hit Tafeko gave him, when he got into the shrine, and found him thrΓ»sting in and out of his wife.
While Tafeko approached the shrine, he heard his wife crying and cΓ»rsing, screΓ ming his name, and asking the gods to take her life if they couldn’t save her from the hands of a man as cursed as Ozonge.
He thought of a thousand things that could make her be so distressed, but couldnβt really get an answer.
Something kept urging him to run really fast, even when he imagined that she could be crying because of the stress and rigours of the rituals she had, had to pass through because of Ozonge.
When he approached the shrine entrance, he began to hear the loud moΓ ns and dirty talks of the most cΓ»rsed being he had ever known, and Tafeko nearly had a heart attΓ ck from the Γ£nger that overwhelmed him.
He got to the entrance of the hut, afraid to look inside and behold the reality of his greatest fear, but had to look nonetheless, and found Ozonge, truly defiling his wife and desecrating his shrine.
He struck Ozonge with a stick in his hand, sending him on a hard fall to the ground, and made to hit him again, but his wife screΓ med about not kΓ―lling Ozonge yet.
Tafeko was only able to dodge the attΓ ck Ozonge launched at him, in the very last second before the blow reached him.
He turned around swiftly, and stood face to face with Ozonge, combat prepared.
Tafeko knew of the powers of the evΓ―l man he was up against, and how he was famed for being able to paralyze his opponents, whenever he had a fΓ―ght with anyone, but he would rather dΓ―e fighting, than stand around in fear, while someone as untamed as Ozonge, carried on with his ΓͺvΓ―l penchant.
βHow dare you Tafeko? How dare you raise your hands on Ozonge the great?
βWhere did you get the audacity to attΓ ck me for being with your wife, when you snatched a virgin right out of my hands and deflowered her, creating a great disparity of tΓ΄rments in the timeline of my lineage?β Ozonge thundered.
βHe who the gods want to kΓ―ll, they first make blind! Ozonge, you are not only cΓ»rsed by the gods, the deity of powers backing your family has abandoned you.
βThe spirits are angry with you, and the forces are all against you because you have chosen the path of destruction, wantonly abusing and defiling maidens, women and in fact, the sacred and special women that should remain untouched.
βYou have constantly abused the powers the gods bestowed on your lineage, just like your forefathers, and the gods have chosen to put an end to the power intoxication, hence they allowed you keep marΓ uding in ignorance.
βYou kept my wife hostage in your cΓ»rsed shrine, desecrating a sacred vessel the gods blessed me with, and only now do I understand why the gods stopped me from attΓ cking you in your shrine.
βThe gods knew that youβd surely bring yourself to this place, where Iβll feed your flesh to the sacred vulture that watches over this shrineβ Tafeko said, every single word he spoke, laced with rage.
Ozonge began to laugh hysterically. His ΓͺvΓ―l laughter echoing all through the shrine and itβs environs.
βYou should throw your shrine skirt away and get yourself a comedian’s robe. You are a clown Tafeko, to imagine that you will stand a minute in a fight with me.
βI Ozonge, descendant of the great Ozonge the first, will leave this shrine with your head, and for kΓ―lling the sacred owl just to get away with the maiden, your remains will be fed to the termites that worship the great iroko tree at the centre of my shrineβ Ozonge said, before he charged at Tafeko, aiming to take him out with the bone in his hand.
Tafeko hit the bone with his stick, hitting so hard that the bone fell off Ozonge’s hands, cutting him in the process.
But Tafeko’s stick also got broken as a result of the impact, and he didn’t have the luxury of time, to fetch another weΓ pon.
There was no way on earth he could turn his back to Ozonge, who wasn’t just more physically fit than him, but was also famed for having the ability to paralyze rivΓ ls.
So he decided to get spiritual, pulling out his staff to invoke calamity upon Ozonge.
The two chief priests clashed, their spiritual weapons pulled out, and aimed at each other.
Tafeko pointed his staff at Ozonge, commanding Ozonge to be struck with leprosy, but Ozonge quickly pulled his staff from the ground, where he had used it to pin Tafekoβs wife, wielding it in front of him, to block the force that flowed out of Tafekoβs staff to implement his order.
He staggered back at the impact of the hit the attΓ ck made, and stood again, laughing at Tafeko.
βIs that all youβve got? Is that all you can do? Aww, it must truly be a shΓ me that after you met me, getting all the goodies the gods endued your wife with, all you can do is raise your staff that is no match for mine
“I would have expected that you would be very furious to have seen how I bent her like a fish about to be dried, while I pounded her, my phΓ llus nearly reaching her womb.
“Did you not notice that her pretentiΓ΄us cry for help was laced with pleasure? How can you be raising a staff at someone, who has done the things you will never be able to do to your wife?
“I would do better than just raise a staff, and stop restraining myself if I met another man setting a standard I won’t be able to reach.
“How are you ever going to be able to please a woman Ozonge has taken from different angles? How will your small man that always has issues getting up be able to pass through the tunnel my big man has created in her ever again?” Ozonge gloated, successfully incensing Tafeko.
He had realized that the only weapon he had come with, his infamous immobilizer had already been used on Tafekoβs wife, so he was going to stay more on the defensive, until he found a way to get out of the shrine to get a reinforcement.
So he wanted Tafeko to expend all his missiles in Γ£nger, to ensure that he didnβt hit him because he knew he had a higher chances of being saved from Tafeko’s charges, if he kept charging while consumed with anger.
He had already used his special alligator pepper when he got hit for entering Tafekoβs shrine the way he did, so he needed to be careful, to ensure that he didnβt get hit again.
Tafekoβs wife who had just been released when Ozonge pulled his staff from the ground to defend himself, rushed outside the shrine, while her husband continued to send missles at Ozonge in blind rage, running Γ΄ut of missiles.
