ππ Birthday Present Part Five:
That evening a call came from the general hospital that my sister was involved in an accident. I was short of words.
It happened like this.
I was supposed to pick a few things from the market that day but I didn’t want to leave the house when Hephzibah was still roaming everywhere. I wanted to be present so that I would be able to stop any of her attempts to mutilate anyone.
I discovered that I was the only one who could stop her because she has never tried to hurt me.
I was very wrong.
I called my sister to help me pick up the items in the market since she lives close to me.
She started complaining about how her husband had taken their car out and she doesn’t want to use public transport. I told her to come over to my house and take my car instead.
On hearing the news, I called my husband to check on her in the hospital. (I was still terrified to leave the house because of Hephzibah)
Luckily for her and us, she survived with only a broken arm which was already put in a cast, but she was asked to stay in the hospital so that the doctors could check for internal bleedings.
While my husband and I were still thanking God for my sister’s life Hephzibah came in crying. She wasn’t holding the pendant like she normally does and now one could see the purple liquid stirring violently in the pendant.
“Sweetheart what’s wrong” My husband cooed maintaining a safe distance from her because the last time he went too close, she almost scratched his eyes out.
“I did it” she said slowly. My husband and I shared a look, it was never good for Hephzibah to admit that she did something even though she wasn’t blaming the necklace this time.
“What did you do?” I asked carefully.
“The necklace made me do it, I’m not lying” she started crying heavily. I gave my husband a concerned look which I’m sure he got, because he left immediately, hopefully to check if everyone in the house still had complete limbs.
“Tell me what you did” I pressed.
“I told you that you shouldn’t have taken me there”
“Tell me what have done right now” I scolded her.
“It was Nimi she told me to do it” she cried bitterly.
The name struck something in me, like I know someone by the name Nimi but I couldn’t place who the person was.
“Who is Nimi?”
“The name of the necklace is Nimi” she clarified. Before I could say anything she continued.
“After you took me to that place Nimi got angry and told me to do something to your car” she choked. I couldn’t believe what I heard.
“I told her I didn’t want to do anything for her anymore because everyone is now scared of me, Sophie doesn’t want to play with me, my classmates think I’m dangerous so I said no. She said she would kill me if I didn’t do it, I still said I wouldn’t do it”
I didn’t let her finish as her hugged her tightly. I felt her chest heaving against my body. My child was being threatened and for the first I couldn’t think of anything to do.
All these while I thought she was enjoying all what she doing, I didn’t understand the emotional trauma the evil necklace was putting her through and when she tried telling me I shunned her.
I didn’t believe a word she was saying but now, I was forced to believe that my child wasn’t evil, she wanted all these to end as badly as I wanted it to.
But now it was time to do something about this situation, I am going to rescue my daughter from whatever evil spirit possessing her.
“Do you want the necklace to be removed now” I spoke into her hair but she heard me, she nodded because she was too busy crying.
I released her from the hug and made her turn her back to me.
The moment my fingers made contact with the necklace, something happened.
