Rex’s POV
The day had been drizzling of rainfall, since it was during the winter. After waiting impatiently for the rain to stop so I can dash out on a stroll down the street.
It comes true for me that the rain stopped at the time I wasn’t even expecting.
I hopped out of the balcony walking outside the gate to the street. I had intentions of using my car, but I later waved out the suggestion and decided to trek.
The cold breeze from the Atlantic ocean was blowing seriously. Since I clad on my sweater, my body developed warm and wasn’t being exposed to the cold breeze.
I was still strolling down the street when I saw a figure, which looks like that of Anne my girlfriend.
I didn’t believe that she was the one. Different thoughts and feelings flashed in my mind. I really wanna disembark from the scene, but something in me stirred me up to walk up to that very lady and inquire whom she really was.
I was charged with full courage and boldness. Infact I will say, I was fearless at this point as I walked up to her.
“Hello pretty, how are you coping with the current weather conditions?”, I asked faking a smile.
Immediately she heard my voice from behind her behind, she turned and definitely it was Anne.
She immediately screamed out.
“Rexy is this really you?”, she asked.
“Yeah it’s me. Sorry to ask are you Anne?”, I also inquired from her.
“Of course it’s me Anne your girlfriend at school”, she responded smiling.
I was flabbergasted the moment she said that. So my Anne have been looking for all these years was with me in the USA.
“Tell me you aren’t kidding me about your identity”, I said with expectancy.
“It’s my baby. It really been a long time. I have missed you a lot”, she said compassionately.
I didn’t wanna continue the conversation with her on the streets, so I asked her to accompany me down to my house.
She didn’t wanna go with me at first. I had to persuade her to follow me, just to sort out things.
When she got to my father’s bungalow, she became dreaded and was about to run outside the gate.
“Baby it’s my father’s house okay. This is were am staying for now, just come in with me. I promise nothing would happen to you”, I said.
“Rex you know my background. I come from a poor family and my parents had always warned me to abscond from anything which belongs to the rich citizens”, she said still feeling reluctant.
Anne emphatically was about to go away when I held her by the right hand and said, “if only you really love me as that same Anne I used to frolic with, come with me”.
She stood for a while staring at me and then followed me into the house.
I took her to the guest room, gave her some chilled pack of vanilla ice cream.
She was really exhilarating and excited.
“So tell me, where have you been all these years?”, I asked feeling too eager to know what happened.
“It’s really a long story baby. After the whole incident happened to me and you were expelled, the principal turned against me, persuading me to get into bed with him. I decided not to agree to his amorous antics. He tried several means with all the strategies he knew. All the same he wasn’t getting what he wanted. So he laid down a false report of me and I was also expelled from school”, she said as her eyes was brimming with tears.
“After which you were expelled from school, how were you able to complete your secondary education?”, I inquired.
“This was really what led to my extinction. There was no money for my parents to further me into school. My mom wasn’t coping well with the current US trade policy, and my dad lost his job as a security personnel in the best painting outlet. I decided to work for a military personnel in his house were I fed his dog and mopped the floor. From my monthly payments, I got myself enrolled in one of the cheapest schools and so, completed my secondary education”, she said.
I really felt for her. It was one of the things I hate to see happening to people that I know. I held her and rested her head on my chest.
“Sorry baby, I never knew you were going through this tough time. All will definitely be well”, I said patting her back slowly.
“So tell me, how about your parents? How are they doing and how is life going on with them?”, I asked.
“They are coping with the little they have to survive”, she responded as I noticed my father’s arrival.
My father walked in and saw me sitting with her, he asked who she was and I briefly introduced her as my girlfriend.
He was surprised and began to laugh scornfully.
“Rex I don’t believe this much that you have a girlfriend. Well it’s not bad that you have a girlfriend. I really wanna urge you not to enroll in sexual affairs”, my father enunciated.
I began wondering why he was against sexual affairs in the relationship, I had to asked him why he said so.
“Dad is why did you say I should not have sex with my partner?”, I inquired.
“It’s because of your safety and to be free from HIV /AIDs. This HIV is a deadly virus contacted through sex with an infected person. It’s really killing a lot of people around the world”, my father said.
“So how can we abstain from contacting this deadly virus dad?”, I asked as I became dreaded.
“If you can’t stay without having sexual intercourse, you can have sex with the use of condom to prevent you both from contacting the virus”, my father uttered and was going upstairs.
“Is that your father?”, Anne asked.
“Yes he is. Come let us go for dinner. The food is ready”, I said holding her hands. She stood up and we both went to the dining room.
