(Attracted To Him No Matter What)
𧑠NIKKY π§‘
….THE NEXT DAY….
I woke up yawning widely. I shut my eyes tight before finally opening it to look at my wall clock.
“Sh*t 8:46!” I yelled jumping out of bed and running to the bathroom. I swept my clothes off me in no time and rushed under the shower.
How come did I sleep so long? I washed my body in haste and ran out to pick one of my clothes from the basket beside my bed.
I dreamt about Danny all through the night, and my alarm rang without me knowing? For almost three hours?
Oh God, I am running crazy!
“Blue, and black.” I said as I picked up a blue shirt and black trouser.
I placed it on the bed and quickly dried my hair with my drier. I wore the cloth in haste and I almost fell down while wearing the trouser.
“Sit Nikky, sit.” I said to myself sitting on the bed, so I could wear the trousers properly.
I was done with it and I saw one of my best sandals.
“This is perfect.” I said to myself as I began to sweat already.
I carried my bag without checking the contents in it. I didn’t remove anything in it, so all should be intact.
I rushed out of the house and locked the door before running down the street.
“Good morning Nikky.” My small cute baby girl said from their window.
“Hey Mona, how are you?” I asked but didn’t even wait to get a response.
That is Mona, a very cute little girl. She is my neighbor, and she is the only one who talks to me freely. I love her so much for that.
I began to approach the restaurant, I could sight it from afar.
“Oh God, I pray it is Bonna not Madam Faridah.”
If she is the one, I guess this is the day I leave this restaurant for good. I got to the restaurant and tiptoed into it looking around and making sure I make no sound.
“Nikky!” I heard someone whisper.
I looked back and I saw Bonna behind me.
“Thank goodness you are the one.” I said in relieve.
“Don’t be too happy. She is in the office.” She whispered.
“What! Oh God.” I said fearfully.
“What happened?” She asked pulling me to the kitchen as I picked up the Apron.
“I slept off, I wasn’t aware when my alarm rang.” I explained tieing the apron around me. I was done and I looked up to see her starting at me with her gaze narrowed.
“What?” I asked.
“You were dreaming of him again right?” She asked folding her arms and I nodded rolling my eyes.
“I Couldn’t help it.” I said and her saw her sigh in anger.
“Nikky are you insane? You are risking your job for someone who doesn’t even recognises you. You are dreaming of someone who doesn’t think of you talk less of dreaming.
Don’t be stupid! This act is so so annoying. You take it ot leave it.” She smacked making me so sad.
“I know its stupid of me but I find myself so attracted to him.” I said sadly.
“Then stop the f**king attraction. Peter is there for you, he loves you, cares for you. Brought you flowers, what else do you want? He is perfect!” She yelled and we heard Madam Faridah’s office door close.
We splitted up immediately and began to do the necessary.
“Nikky see me in my office.” We heard her hoarse voice from behind us and I felt my heart skip. This isn’t good at all.
We heard the door close again and I breathed out in great fear.
“Apologize to her, tell her you were sick or something. Just make sure you don’t lose your only means of survival because of someone who can never be yours.” She said and walked out of the kitchen holding the mop stick.
“What if she heard us?” I asked fearfully.
“Let’s hope she didn’t.” She replied.
I sighed and walked out of the kitchen too heading to Madam Faridah’s office. I knocked on it and opened before she could say a word.
“Ma’am you called for me.” I said in a lone tone, I began to shake just seeing her face.
“What time did you resume work?” She asked looking at me coldly.
“Some minutes past 9am Ma’am.” I said bowing.
“And when should you resume?” She asked again.
“Before 7am Ma’am.” I replied.
“Tell me just one reason why i should still keep you in this restaurant as a worker.” She said folding her hands on the desk.
“Ma’am please. You know this is my first time of coming late. I wasn’t feeling too good, so I slept off.” I explained hoping she would believe my jargons.
“So your been ill made you to resume late? And who did you tell? Because even your friend doesn’t know about this.” She said.
“Ma’am it started At night. I couldn’t make any phone calls. Please have mercy ma’am. Please give me one more chance, it will never happen. Never.” I said going on my knees.
She stared at me for some minutes and I knew she was thinking of what to do about me.
“Oh God, please don’t allow her chase me. I promise not to think of Danny anymore and stick with Peter. Just this once please dear God.” I prayed silently as I bowed my head.
“One more chance. You have it, but I give you my word. Once you behave irresponsible from now on, even any silent mistake. I swear you are out.” She said and I nodded quickly.
“I promise to be responsible. Thank you so much Ma’am Faridah.” I said happily.
“Now get back to work!” She smacked and I stood up in haste and rushed our of the office smiling.
“It looks like she didn’t hear us after all.” Bonna said walking to me.
“She didn’t, but it is a last chance. Any more mistake, I am out.” I said and she nodded.
“I pray you listen to me for once. If I am your best friend truly, and you love me, you will leave that Danny Farrow’s thought in your head, and focus on someone who loves you.” She said and I nodded.
“I will do just that. You seem angry with me.” I said pouting my mouth.
“Of course I am. Jeopardizing your job and livelihood for someone who doesn’t know you is quite stupid of you.” She added and I sighed.
“I was stupid, but not anymore.” I said and she smiled.
“I will wait till your action tell me so.” She said walking back to the frontage. While I moved to the kitchen to start preparing the meals.
God really loves me, and that is why customers are yet to fill the restaurant today.
“Forget about Danny, cling onto Peter.” I kept thinking making sure it rang in my head.
I will learn to love peter, and that’s it. All will be perfectly okay.
