THE PARTY
~NEW JERSEY CITY~
βGood morning sirβ Romeo secretary greeted as soon as he got out of the car.
βYour nine oβclock appointment is ready andβ¦..β
βCancel itβ he said as he head towards the office cafeteria.
βBut itβs important, weβve been waiting for months for thisβ¦..β
βI said cancel it! Right now I have somewhere more important to beβ he said as he walked off while the other employees bowed in greeting.
He ignored it as his only main aim is to see Marie.
She had left in the wee hours of the morning, she had left without even saying a thing after what they had shared last night.
They had both consumed alcohol and had made love. Romeo hadnβt been expecting that, infact he hadnβt been expecting them to make love when he decided to use his chance to be with her last night.
He only wanted to spend more time with her and get to know more about her never would he have imagine that they would go as far as to making love but whatβs done is done and he was expecting her to act up to it like an adult but the only thing she could do is to run away.
He got to the cafeteria and went straight to kitchen, he could hear her voice and it seems like she wasnβt alone.
He walked further in only to only to see her standing side by side with the head chef and immediately he felt his anger erupting.
His Jealousy swelling, she had left him just so she could come be with this man well he wonβt be letting her off easily.
Marie focus was on the crab Charles was peeling when she heard someone cough behind her.
She turned only to see Romeo standing there. He had come earlier than she expected.
She knew that her leaving without saying a word would get him angry but she had been expecting to face him at home and not at work.
βGood morning sirβ Charles greeted cheerfully.
βCan you leave both Marie and I aloneβ Romeo replied ignoring Charles greeting.
Marie noticed that he ignored Charles greeting which she found rude and she turned to Charles who was starring at her.
βWhat? Do you need her permission before you leave?β Romeo asked.
βNo sir but I just find it odd that your first time in coming to your company kitchen is to speak to Marie β Charles replied.
βMarie and I have something to discuss, so save us the time and leaveβ Romeo instructed but Charles stared at Marie who nodded at him before walking off.
As soon as the door was shut Romeo turned on her
βWhy the hβll did you leave like that?β He asked angrily.
βWhy shouldnβt I? β She asked in return.
βYou knew we had to talk about it! Something happened between us you should have at least woke me up! Do you know how worried I was because I didnβt find you beside me when I woke up?β He asked looking all serious.
Marie thought for a while that his anger was mainly because he was worried about her but she thought wrong.
βDoes my leaving without telling you a thing anger you that much? Well then I left and thatβs mainly because I regret what happenβ she lashed out at him.
βYou regret it?β He asked.
βI do! Isnβt it ironic? For the first time in my life, I finally made love to a man but I canβt remember and to top it all I made love to someone who doesnβt love meβ she said starring at him.
βNow Marie, I think itβs time you listen toβ¦.β
βItβs a mistake! Letβs leave it at thatβ she said cutting him off.
βDo you call it a mistake even though you were the one who started the whole thing. You kssed me firstβ he told her.
βAnd thatβs why I left. I couldnβt remember a thing but when I tried to the only thing I remember was kssing you. I might have started the whole thing but I regret it, It was a mistake Romeo letβs leave it as thatβ she said to him.
βYou are right! We were both intoxicated last night but that doesnβt mean it is a mistakeβ he said.
βTo me it is and I know it is the same for you so please letβs forget it happened. We will be divorced anyway so there is no use talking about itβ she said turning her back on him.
Romeo wanted to say more, he wanted to let her know that it wasnβt a mistake for him that for him it was the best thing but he couldnβt. The timing isnβt right, he thought.
βFine then! Letβs forget what happened as you put itβ he said and turned to leave.
βAnd I would like it if you refrain from coming to see me here. No one in the company knows about our marriageβ she said behind him and he would have love to yell out at that particular moment that she was his wife and that she belongs to him but the timing just isnβt right. He thought as he walked out without giving her a reply.
He got back to his office and found Blake seated on his seat.
βSo how did it go?β Blake asked.
βYou dare to ask me that after what you did!β Romeo said as he walked towards Blake pulling him up by his shirt.
β Easy Romeo. You know I hate my face having a scarβ he said.
βI should really give you an ugly bruising that will make all the girls stay away from youβ Romeo threatened.
βWhy are you so angry? I only did it to help you and marieβ Blake said as he manage to pull away from Romeo.
βWhat? Did it go bad?β Blake asked.
βIt didβ Romeo replied as he narrated the whole thing that happened.
βWow! My plan really got you two sharing a bedβ Blake said excitedly.
βWe did share a bed but it further distance her from me. She says it is a mistake and tells me to stay awayβ
βAnd will you? Youβve move a step by having your first night with her now all you have to do is to convince her that you two are meant to beβ he said.
βHow? β Romeo said looking so lost.
βThis is the first time I will see you look so lost. In the past you were always confident about bedding a girl but now you are the one seeking advise on how to get your wife love? I canβt believe thisβ Blake said laughing.
βThis isnβt funny and Marie isnβt a easy girl. I learnt that while living with her. Can you believe that the allowance I made for her havenβt even been touched?β He asked.
βThen sheβs someone who canβt be bought with money. If she canβt be pleased with any materialistic things then we will just have to capture her heart by showing her your loving natureβ Blake said.
βHow do we go about that?β
βI heard that the workers are planning a night out tonight. Why donβt we go ourselves?β Blake suggested.
