I knocked several times and he did not respond.
“Where has he gone?” I soliloquies.
Could he be outside the gate, trimming the flowers? I ruminated.
As my hands were already on the gate’s jam-lock, my curiosity was piqued, with the exception of meeting Obadiah outside. I found myself opening the gate.
Upon first peeking outside, I notice the lovely street with coconut trees planted on both sides of the street, resembling American villas.
A cool breeze caresses my face as the lovely sun shines on my eyes.
“Ah, how I miss coming out,” I grinned. I completely forgot that I was supposed to search for Obadiah. Well, come to think of it. Though I assumed Obadiah was nearby, I could not find him when I glanced at the flowers near the gate.
I wanted to go back inside.
I turned to see what had happened when I heard a slight thud. Some coconuts had fallen.
The distance between the gate and the coconut tree was about ten feet.
I gave the street a good look, and everything appears to be in its proper place.
It’s been long I last eat fresh coconut” I said within me despite the fact that the freezer is stuck up with peeled coconut I still crave for the fresh one.
I was lost in thought, not realizing I was in front of the coconut. I bent down to pick the coconut before returning to the house when I noticed a car speeding towards me. The car looks similar to Jared’s men’s car.
My heart beat increased I threw the coconut away and pick a marathon race flinging off my footwear.
“Please God!!!” I said as I arrived at the gate.
“Come inside quickly,” Obadiah pleaded as he held the small gate entrance for me to enter.
The car almost caught up to me as I crashed into the gate. Before Obadiah could shut the gate a bullet came flaying in which almost pierced Obadiah’s shoulder. But anyways he closed the gate immediately.
I fell to the ground, gasping for air, my mouth hanging open.
WRITER’S POV π§
With bands akimbo, Obadiah stood above Hosanna, giving her a furious glance.
He was not aware that Hosanna had opened the gate and left when he was in the backyard feeding the fish in the fishpond. It was only when he noticed the gate ajar that he became alarmed.
He rushed out of panic, only to see Hosanna running towards the gate.
“Small aunty I beg, I take God beg you no try dis kind play next time” Obadiah warned.
“I am sorry, sir,” Hosanna said, sitting up.
What if something bad happens to you? Oga for Carry me go jail, then I for go the eat garri and beans were no get nutrients, then all those big man food were oga the give me, I for miss am,” he continued.
“I am sorry, I just wanted to see if you were outside,” she explained again.
“No try am again I beg you” He uttered.
“I will not dare,” she replied, heading inside.
While Obadiah stood all alone soliloquizing.
“Shooo! “Na so I for take lose my job like this, omor the devil is an iriot {idiot} abi na how them take the talk am self the devil is a baskard (bastard) gaskia (honestly).” He said and danced around before heading inside.
FEW HOURS LATER π¬
Desmond returned home looking upset and furious; he despises it when his orders are disobeyed.
He left his bag in the living room and went to Hosanna’s room.
He knocked on the door repeatedly before Anna opened it.
“Good evening, Sir.” She greeted like an adorable ball of fluff making Desmond’s anger to subside a little.
Desmond looked at Anna, who maintained an innocent expression with sparkling eyes and a gentle smile that appeared to be devoid of guile. Without a doubt, one will not believe it is the same Hosanna who disobeyed several hours ago. because of her seeming innocence and composure.
Making Desmond to almost stop scolding her but he knows he had to scold her should in case of next time.
He stiffened his resolve and stood above Hosanna, staring angrily at her, causing her to shiver.
This is the first time he is been so upset with her.
“Why did you disobey me?” He inquired.
“Am sorry” Anna croaked wondering how he got to know.
“If something horrible had happened to you, would you be standing here right now telling me you are sorry?” He buzzed, and Anna gave a cold nod.
“What was so important about getting outside that you could not even wait for my arrival?” He spoke, but Anna remained silent.
“What if you died, or if you were kidnapped?” What if someone broke into the house? What if the security guard was shot because of your carelessness? I like you and cannot afford to lose you.” He mumbled, trying not to raise his voice at her, and his expression changed to one of concern and worry.
“I will not do it again.”She said this with her head bent to the ground.
“You better not, or I will simply leave you outside the gate.” He said and walked back to his room, leaving Anna standing alone by the door; she had never seen Desmond this angry before. This story is written by Peter’s Gracuous.
