On the alcoholic content, it’s not much. It shouldn’t be more than 12% alcohol,’ Thompson explained.
‘Okay, I just hope the alcohol won’t treat me badly,’ Martha added. And became totally discouraged from drinking too much of the wine.
‘You are really allergic to alcohol?’, Thompson inquiried, very curious.
‘I am very much allergic to alcohol. I don’t have a ‘strong head’ for that. My mental and physical faculties are always impaired by alcohol, especially whenever I take much of it,’ she explained, honestly.
‘Don’t worry, I promise you, the alcohol in this wouldn’t be harsh on you. As it’s well blended. So let’s enjoy ourselves,’ Thompson assured her.
The dinner continued. As their discussion continued.
They talked about many things.
In fact, It was a very lively date.
Meanwhile the way Thompson managed to elevate Martha’s spirit with his jokes and open-ended questions was like magic. You really need to see Martha very happy, laughing out loud as she talked about her feelings and sharing more information about herself.
Thompson was a good listener. So he listened attentively to what his date was saying. Martha really captivated him so much with her talks. And he asked follow-up questions to show her how he was so much interested in her talk.
The date was splendid. As it availed them an opportunity to genuinely get to know each other.
The way the two of them were talking and laughing, a stranger would think they had known each other for a long time.
Thompson really built a bond with Martha. As they found common ground in each other. It happened that they had so many things in common. As if they were born of the same man and woman.
Thompson kept his expectations very realistic. He never placed unrealistic pressure upon his date. As the purpose of his date was to have a good time with Martha and as well get to know her more. Not to mount pressure upon her so as to woo her love.
Although when the opportunity unveiled itself, Thompson still shot his shot.
He began as the emotions ran deep: ‘..I am really excited…I mean…I am over the moon for finally having the opportunity to talk to someone I have wanted to be with,’ he paused, took a deep breath and continued in a heart melting voice. ‘Hey, I felt for you..I mean…I fell in love with you at first sight. Martha, you are my type of woman. You are my dream woman. A woman I have been dreaming of spending the rest of my life with,’ he heaved a deep and long breath. ‘I didn’t really mean to do it this way..I mean being so fast. No! I really want to take it easy…step by step..but time is my problem..I mean I do not have much time. So I have to do this…I have to let the cat out of the bag,’ he paused. ‘Hey, telling you I like you is an understatement. Martha, I love you..I love you so much from the deep of my heart. Please give me the chance to prove that to you. I promise, you will not regret it. I really meant well for you dear…,’ Thompson expressed his feelings deep down from his heart.
‘Thompson, you are a good man. I must confess, I like you. But I am not ready for any relationship now…’, In a sober reflection, she continued. ‘ I am heart broken. My heart is shattered to pieces. I am very broken. I am not ready to jump into any relationship now. As my heart is wounded so severely. I need healing. I really want to heal. I need time to get out of the shackle that I am into right now. I am sorry,’ Martha said in a trembling voice, very heartbroken.
Thompson really felt pity on her. He wished he had a magic power to heal her. He would have done that long ago. But he couldn’t help it but to console her.
‘I am very sorry for the heartbreak. I know it’s not an easy thing to handle but you have to move on,’ he paused. ‘Martha, we have many things in common. As I was once in your shoes. It has not been long since I came out from the shackles of heartbreak too. I know it’s not easy but you have to try hard. For how long are you going to remain this way, ehn? You have to move on..’
‘I am trying but it’s not easy. Thompson you wouldn’t understand. I really gave it all. And that’s why it hit me so hard,’ she had to pause, atleast to control the tears that had clouded her eyes. ‘ I don’t blame him. It’s all my fault. I blame myself for giving it all. For loving with all my heart instead of my brain..’

Martha, please hold my hand. I am ready to hold yours forever. I want to make you my better half. I want to spend the rest of my life with you…,’ Thompson expressed from deep down his heart.
Even at that, Thompson still got the same negative reply from Martha. Martha insisted on not jumping into another relationship anytime soon. As the wound of the previous was still very much alive.
Thompson didn’t push any further. He had to respect Martha’s appeal for a time to be healed of her past.
But the only problem was that he had not much time on his side any longer. As his holiday was fast winding up. He had barely two weeks to return back to Canada.
At this point, Thompson had to change the topic of their discussion to something more fun and lively. Because the love and relationship topic of a thing has had an extreme mood swing upon Martha.
Moments later, the date came to an end.

After the breakup, it really took Martha two weeks before she finally resumed back to her business.
Apart from the sickness that got Martha hospitalized for three days, another challenge she had was the courage to face the sight of KC in the market.
In fact, it was by the grace of God Martha was able to gather the courage to start business again.
Meanwhile Kelechi has not given up on Martha. He still has hope of reconciliation.
He kept coming, seeking Martha’s forgiveness.
