🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE FIFTY ONE:
PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:
…Martha thought of doing so many things to them but she finally had to settle for one:
Killing them.
Angrily, Martha went back to the sitting room in search of a weapon. As she couldn’t lay her hand on any tangible thing capable of executing the job for her, she rushed to the kitchen. At first, it was a knife she laid her hand upon, she picked it up, examining the knife. Moments later, she dropped the knife back, as if the knife would not be capable of doing the job. She stood stranded, scanning the whole of the kitchen with eyes in a hurry and anger. Just then, her eyes caught the mortar and pestle. She quickly lifted the pestle up in anger. And it was a very big pestle.
She quickly rushed down to the room with the pestle in acrimonious to pound them alive..
THE CONTINUATION:
Martha, on getting to the bedroom, it happened that KC and Linda, this time around, were on the pinnacle of cloud nine. So they were still very much unaware of her presence. As Linda was still very busy riding him vigorously.
Martha paused for a while, her heart kept beating quickly as she tried catching her breath, watching them as tears poured down her cheeks.
They were moaning uncontrollably. The moaning alone pierced her heart like a sharp sword.
Martha was very much angry, gnashing her teeth acrimoniously.
Pound them like fufu!
Pound them!
Pound them!
That was the voice gearing her up.
Moments later, Martha charged up like one just possessed by a strange spirit. She raged and wanted to not just kîll them but to pound them like fufu, just as the spirit was cheering her up.
Martha moved closer to them. And still yet, they were unaware of her presence. As KC shut his eyes very closed enjoying the ride to the fullest. Martha stood behind Linda watching her angrily as she rode his man carelessly like a hired bike.
It was the moment Martha lifted the pestle up in the air to hit Linda that KC, with eyes still closed, managed to catch the shadow of Martha. Upon opening his eyes, the pestle was already landing on Linda’s head, immediately, KC pushed Linda aside and used his hand to block the pestle.
The pestle landed on his hand. And his hand was partially paralyzed.
That notwithstanding, KC still used the hand to snatch the pestle away from her, therefore, preventing further damages.
‘Give me back the pestle, the two of you deserved not to live. You two deserved to die. Because you all are heartless. You all are nothing but devils..’, Martha was crying bitterly, dragging the pestle with KC.
‘Martha I am sorry. I swear to God, it’s not what you think…,’Linda pleaded.
‘I swear, it’s not what you think. I will explain..,’ KC was pleading too.
‘You,’ she faced Linda. ‘Linda, how could you? How could you be sleeping with my man? Who knows how long this has been going on. Linda, even though we are not best of friends…but we-we are friends, ehn? Then how could you backstab me this much?..’, Martha was asking in tears amid confusion and heartbreak.
‘Martha, I am sorry. I can explain. It’s the devîl. I don’t know what came over me. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me..,’ Linda was pleading.
‘You he-goat, so it has gotten to this?,’ Martha was asking KC, raging. ‘It has gotten to the level of sleeping with my friend?,’ she paused, shedding tears.
‘I regret ever knowing you. I curse the day I met you. As you are one of the worst things that ever happened to me in life..’, Martha added, crying bitterly.
‘Baby, I am sorry, I don’t know what came over me. It’s the work of the devîl..’, KC was very apologetic before he was interrupted.
‘Don’t you ever baby me. You are very wîçkèd. And ingrate. I warned you but you refused to change. You are very ingrained. However, watch me leave’, she paused, sobbing. ‘Anyway, I don’t blame you. It’s your life. You live it on your own terms. I am leaving your promiscuous life for good, so that you enjoy your womanizing lifestyle to the fullest. I have my sanity to safe…’
Linda, at the extreme edge of the bed, covered her nakedness with bedspread, then buried her head down in big shame. As she was of the wish for the ground to open its mouth, swallow her and never to vomit her again.
As Martha finally picked up her pieces to go, KC held her tight, pleading in tears. She angrily flinged his hands off her body.
‘Enjoy your promiscuous life. Please never call my phone number ever in your life. And I don’t want to ever see you close to my shop again in your life. Goodbye’.
Martha said in tears and left KC in the pool of his tears.
Martha couldn’t stop the tears from flowing as she was leaving. As she couldn’t get the image off her head.
She shedded tears throughout her journey back to computer village.
Even at the shop, Martha wasn’t able to do anything. As she left her customers stranded and frustrated in the shop as she wasn’t able to attend to anyone. Her heart was indeed totally shattered. As she buried her head on the table, crying bitterly. Heartbreak, a very terrible thing that could happen to anyone.
At some point, Martha’s condition caused a big scene. As friends and neighbors had to interfere, throwing questions at her.
Martha never uttered a word to anyone not to talk of replying to their questions. Instead, when the question was very much on her, she closed her shop and left for home.
All Martha needed at that moment was nothing but a solace. But as the comforter was unavailable, she began to crave for alcohol and wèèd. She just wanted to smoke and drink herself to stupor so as to ease herself from the shackles of heartbreak for the moment because it was too heavy a burden upon her.
If not for how sour things had turned into, Martha would have run to Linda for solace in this situation. At least, Linda would provide her with enough alcohol and wèèd to smoke and drink away her sorrows.
Meanwhile Martha became of the great wish she had known the place to buy the wèèd. Because If she had known, she would have gone and bought some for herself no matter how much it would cost her. As she already had an alcoholic drink with her. She bought a big bottle of it on her way home.
Martha had really cried her eyes out. You need to see how severe her eyes had puffed.
Martha was totally lost in thought to the extent she didn’t know when the bus she boarded got to her bus stop. However, the bus had gone far past her bus-stop before she could realize herself.
So she had to take a long journey back before connecting to her route home.
Aunty you dey go?
Madam, you dey go?
Fine girl, make we go?
Customer, make I come?
The ‘Okada’ men in the junction were asking her.
Martha didn’t not utter a word to any of them as she trekked home with buckets of tears rolling down her cheeks.
Where can I buy wèèd? That was the only question begging for an answer in her mind.
Halfway, Martha remembered the joint down the street where the ‘Area Boiz’ used to gather to perpetuate their mayhem. She then began to entertain the thought of going there to buy the wèèd.
Just then, she remembered what she overheard about the wèèd transaction — that the wèèd dealers don’t entertain strange faces; they only sell to familiar faces. This happened to be one of the security measures being applied by them to avoid falling into the net of the police who might come in disguise.
Meanwhile Martha had passed her route, heading towards the joint of the ‘Area Boiz’.
On getting to the joint, fear didn’t allow her to enter. So she stood afar.
From afar, Martha signaled Tunde to come. Tunde was a friend and also a neighbor to her. Tunde came with immediate effect because he knew that there must be something for the boiz.
‘Tuale! For my area mama. Mama, I greet you. Watin dey na?,’ Tunde saluted her passionately.
‘Tunde, I need smoke,’ she mumbled in a trembling voice.
‘Ah! Mama! I know understand oh! Watin dey happen na? Smile no even dey ur face at all. Watin dey sup? See as your eyes swell up. Any problem?..’
‘Tunde no problem. Just get me smoke,’ Martha managed to voice out. ‘Take this money, go and buy the wèèd for me. Help me wrap an,’ she added, handing him 1,000 naira mint. Five pieces.
‘Mama! Howfar? Shey you don dey smoke ni? Because I never see you..’
‘Tunde, please be fast about it. You talk too much,’ she yelled. ‘I will be waiting for you over there,’ she added, pointing at a closed shop.
Tunde left with immediate effect. Money stops nonsense. He has seen money, so no more long talk.
