π A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE FORTY FOUR:
Moments later, Martha stormed into the room and banged the door in anger. She cried her eyes out before finally dressing up. Afterwards, she left the house very angrily.
KC on the other hand, didnβt say even a word to her. He was not even remorseful at all. As he too dey form vex. Imagine.
Martha left KCβs house in tears and very disorganized. It was as if her world was about to be shattered.
She shed tears even in the bus, causing a big stir.
Martha ended up at Lindaβs place. As she couldnβt go home immediately because she didn’t know what to tell her Aunty. She wanted night to come before going home so that Aunty Ifeoma would not see her swollen eyes.
So she decided to stop at Lindaβs house to find solace.
It has been a long time since she visited Linda. Their friendship was not that tight because they were two birds of different feathers despite the fact that it was that same Linda that got her the job of sales girl in computer village.
Linda was a flirt. And Martha was the opposite. So birds of different feathers cannot flock together.
If not for the mental and physical frustration KC had landed Martha into, she wouldnβt have any business going to Lindaβs house.
On getting to Lindaβs apartment, she knocked. But the music blasting out from her apartment wouldnβt allow anybody inside to hear the knock.
She knocked the third time all to no avail.
As if Linda was part of her problem, Martha, angrily, had to use her last strength to hit the door. It was as if she had the intention of pulling the door down. As such l, neighbors had to come to know what the problem was.
Martha state didnβt even permit her to look around, not to talk of replying to those questioning her on what the problem was. She just dragged herself into Lindaβs apartment as she opened the door.
βHey, whatβs wrong with you?β.
Linda had to calm the anger in her having observed that all was not well with Martha. Because she had initially come out to fight whosoever the person was for hitting her door in that manner.
Martha bursted into a cry. As tears rained like water.
βThey have shattered this one heartβ, Linda soliloquised while concentrating more on the wΓ¨ed she was smoking before Martha interrupted her flow.
Linda allowed Martha to cry to her satisfaction.
βLover girl, if you cry finish, let me know how your heart was shattered so as to know how to repair the heart,β she said with less concern.
Linda was busy puffing her smoke. The level of concentration she gave to that βiboβ would make you think that her life depends on it. She actually warned Martha against loving with heart instead of with brain.
As a matter of fact, love was not in Lindaβs dictionary. That was why she preferred flirting. Linda herself has had her own share of heartbreak in a relationship of which she gave it all. So after the survival of the heartbreak, Linda turned a new leaf β flirt.
βLinda my heart has been shattered. Kelechi broke my heart. He is cheating on me. I overheard all his conversations on the phone with a girl. Upon all I did for him,β she cried out.
βI warned you before but you refused to listen. Men can only be loyal to women when they are broke but immediately they have a taste of môñèy, then come and see the spirit of womanizing in themβ¦β
βI cannot believe he could do this to me. Upon all I did for him. All the sacrifices I have sacrificed for him. Cheating is what he used to pay me back..β
βMen will always be men. They are nothing but scΓ»m,βshe paused. βMartha, no man deserves your heart. Because when you give men your heart, they will shatter it into pieces..β
βKelechi is cheating on me. The worst part is that heβs denying it whereas the truth was glaring clearly in his two eyes..β, Martha was crying so bitterly.
It was at that moment Linda really felt sorry for her. She had a pity on her. Then she moved closer to console her.
βDonβt worry, stop crying. Look, no man deserves the tears of a woman. Not even Kelechi. So you donβt have to kill yourself for him. Because if you do, he will go ahead and replace you in his life. So be strong. In a relationship, you have to expect the worst,β she paused, holding Martha in her bosom like a baby. βJust take it easy on yourself,β she consoled her. Then paused and dragged her βiboβ a little. Before puffing and retrohaling the smoke out nonchalantly. You need to see how the smoke clouded the air as if it wanted to rain. She then turned to Martha again. βTake this smoke, inhale it a little, it will help youβ¦β
Amidst deep frustration, Martha didnβt even know when she accepted to seek solace from wΓ¨ed.
She inhaled the first one, then puffed. She coughed. Then inhaled the second round and puffed. But couldnβt go for the third round as she was having a serious bad cough.
She later continued the smoke. As Linda was putting her through.
A big bottle of alcoholic drink was on standby. The drink was what they were using to dilute the smoke.
At one point, Martha became very high in alcohol and other substances. But she managed to push herself up from the seat to go home.
βLinda, I want to go home…I am going home. Itβs lateβ¦β, she slurred, very intoxicated in both alcoholic drink and wèèd.
Aunty Ifeoma was very worried as it was getting late at night and Martha was nowhere to be found. The worst part of it all was that she was not picking her calls. She had called her for almost 100 times.
Aunty Ifeoma had to call KC on the phone. She asked him of Martha. KC told her that Martha had left his house a long time ago.
On hearing that, Aunty Marthaβs heart almost left her. She began panicking, shivering so badly.
She informed KC that Martha has not gotten home. And it was almost 11:00pm in the night.
Kelechi quickly took his phone and started calling Marthaβs phone number. But she was not picking up.
Panic has gripped KC. He was very much afraid that Martha had done something bad to herself.
βGod, let it not be that she has harmed herself. Nothing should happen to her. I still love her so much,β he paused. In a sober reflection, he continued. βIf anything happened to her, I am responsible. And I will never forgive myself. As Itβs all my fault. Because I have hurted her so much by cheating on her..β
KC was soliloquizing as he was wandering up and down in the house very aimlessly. He doesnβt even know where to start looking for Martha.
