🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE TWENTY NINE:
PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:
…that night, I couldn’t sleep. As I was praying for him not to use violence to cause more problems for himself.
But the following day, my fear finally came to pass.
It happened that KC allowed the dèvîl to use and dumped him. He did something stûpîd that night and it landed him into big trouble..
THE CONTINUATION:
Kelechi did not go straight home that day after our meeting in the joint. It happened he had a stop in a beer parlor and drenched himself with alcohol before going home.
He went home that night full of anger.
On getting home, it happened that they had locked the gate into the house. It was not as if he came back late. But it was a deliberate act just to wîçkèd and punish him.
The architect of all was Mr. Anthony, KC’s sister’s husband.
KC started knocking on the gate but no one answered him. He knocked uncountable times all to no avail. Not as if they were not hearing his knock, but the man of the house gave an order that nobody should open the gate unless he decided otherwise. As a matter of fact, he even padlocked the gate and the keys were with him.
KC could see the inside of the compound through the small opening in the gate. Although it was night, but the electricity light made the clear view possible.
KC saw his bag and clothes littered in the compound. He had to clean his two eyes with his two hands very well to be sure of what he saw. Behold it were his things that were littered in the compound. He knew whose hand work was that. Mr. Anthony. No doubt.
KC became màd. Very angry.
When his anger got to the boiling point where he could no longer control it, he màdly descended on the gate. He hit and shook the gate as if to pool it down.
The manner at which KC was shaking the gate sent fears to neighbors. Many thought it was àrmèd rôbbèrs. Many thought that war had started.
Mr. Anthony on the other side was very much angry with KC for trying to pull down his gate.
So when he could no longer take the nôñsènse anymore, he angrily surged out like a wounded lion. With that anger, he opened the gate and without saying even a word to KC, he started throwing punches at him.
When KC could not take it anymore, he started retaliating back.
Two fighting!
Before you could know what was happening, KC has used heavy punches to inflict injuries on Mr Anthony’s mouth. To the extent he punched out one of his teeth. Then he flung Mr. Anthony like an object against the gate with anger and full force.
Mr. Anthony has a smallish stature. And he was a very short man. In fact, he narrowly escaped the dwarf. Kelechi on the other hand was a giant. Huge and very muscular in nature. So lifting Mr. Anthony was nothing to him. You really need to see the way he flung him as if he was not a human being.
As Mr. Anthony hit himself against the gate with that force, a sharp object tore his head very severely. Blôôd started oozing out with great force.
Before Mr. Anthony’s wife and children could come out, he has passed out. They met him in his pool of blôôd half dèàd.
Amid fear, they all started screaming on top of their voices in unison. They thought he was dèàd.
In a twinkling of an eye, the neighbors have gathered.
Immediately, the police was contacted and KC was arrested and taken to the police custody for detention while Mr. Anthony was rushed to the hospital for intensive treatment.
Kelechi had spent three days in police custody already and the fourth was on the count. Meanwhile If not for Martha, KC would have died of starvation in that cell. Martha made it a point of duty to visit him in the police with food every morning of every blessed day. And before leaving the police station, she would drop môñèy for them to use to buy him food at noon and night.
Mr. Anthony had used his môñèy and influence to detain KC illegally, denying him bail.
Mr. Anthony was even threatening to charge KC to court and jail him. He was so determined to teach him a lesson in a very hard way.
It was even when KC was about to clock a week in the police cell that his people came all the way from the village to Lagos to interfere in the case. Because Mr. Anthony has refused to listen to people’s pleas to release KC. Even when his Inlaws called to plead, he refused to listen to them. Therefore prompting them to come over to Lagos so as to iron things out.
The elders arrived in Lagos successfully. They were three in number. Their first meeting with Mr. Anthony didn’t end well. Likewise the second meeting. It was on the third meeting Mr. Anthony shifted ground and agreed to set KC free from police custody. But on a condition he would leave his house from the police station with immediate effect.
Kelechi finally regained his freedom. But he had to leave Lagos for the village with his uncles from the police station with immediate effect on that day of his release. It was among the agreements he signed before his release. He also signed not to trouble Mr. Anthony and his family in whatsoever way.
Mr. Anthony personally brought all KC’s belongings to the police station with his car.
KC left Lagos for the village without saying goodbye to anyone. Although he was not given the opportunity to do so. Because if he had the opportunity, he would have at least said goodbye to Martha. A woman who was so dear to him. A woman who made sure he never went hungry even for a day in the police custody. A woman who was there for him even when his friends and relatives abandoned him. Because when he was in the cell, friends, even his own blood sister, none visited him for one day. It was said that his sister was very angry with him for wanting to send her to the bondage of an early widow.
Leaving Lagos without saying a goodbye to Martha saddened KC’s heart so much. The worst part of it all was that he had lost contact with Martha. Because he lost his phone during the fracas with Mr. Anthony. And he doesn’t have Martha’s phone number by heart. If not, he would have borrowed a phone from one of his uncles to reach out to her when they were still in the motor park, atleast, to see her and thank her for being there for him when everybody had deserted him.
