🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE TWENTY THREE:
PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:
..meanwhile, expectation and joy didn’t allow me to check whether I left my ATM at home that Sunday or it was among the things the pickpockets stôłè from me.
It was on Tuesday that I remembered to check for the ATM card. But unfortunately, I couldn’t see it where I used to keep it. In fact, I turned the whole house upside down but to no avail. It was then it dawned on me that it was among the things stöłéñ from me.
I had to visit the bank the following day to block the ATM and as well to know if my hard-earned môñèy was safe.
But guess what..
THE CONTINUATION:
‘Good morning. Welcome to the first bank’, the customer care person greeted me. ‘Please you can have your seat’, she added
‘Thank you’, I said while taking my seat.
‘How may I help you?’, she asked.
‘My ATM card was stôllén, so I want to block it and get a new one. Secondly, I want to check my account balance to be sure nothing has happened to my account,’ I explained.
‘Okay. So can I have your account number’, she said while handing a paper and pen to me. ‘Write the account number on that paper and sign’, she added.
‘Okay’, I said while taking the writing items from her.
I have my account number off hand. So I wrote it down and signed as required before handing the paper back to her.
I waited patiently as she battled with her keyboard and mouse.
‘Please exercise some patience while I work on getting you your account balance. The network is fluctuating. I am sorry for the inconvenience,’ she explained and apologized all together.
‘Okay’, I nodded in affirmation while relaxing myself on the chair.
Amidst waiting, I was panting heavily. Also, my heart was pounding severely as if they were drumming inside of it.
Moments later:
‘The network is now stable. Thank you for your patience’, she said to me.
‘Okay, can I have my balance?’, I said.
‘Yes of course. Just hold on, I am fetching your account balance out’, she said while pressing the computer. ‘What’s the name on the account?’, she asked.
‘Martha Danladi’, I replied.
‘Okay’, she said while rômànćîñg the mouse. ‘From what I am seeing here, Martha Danladi, you don’t have any möñèy in your account’, she announced.
The announcement hit me like a thunderbolt. As my heart sank into my stomach. Shiver gripped me.
‘Impossible! There must be a mixup somewhere. Because I have above three hundred thousand naira in my account’, I managed to stutter .
‘You are Martha Dalandi with account number 303460****, right?’, she asked.
I nodded in affirmation amid rapid sweat already wetting my body. Even the high active air conditioned couldn’t save me from the severe torment of the sweat.
‘You only have a thousand naira in your account,’ she maintained while turning the screen for me to see for myself.
I couldn’t believe what my eyes saw. It was true. No môñèy In my account again. They left only a thousand naira. I confirmed it myself. My legs had become heavy. Shaking seriously.
‘What happened to my savings? I had above three hundred thousand naira in that account. My hard-earned môñèy..’, I cried.
‘From the record here, you withdrew the whole möñèy two days ago’, he explained.
On hearing that, I was totally weak as if the whole of my energy had been drained off me. As my legs couldn’t carry my weight any longer, I slumped on the ground.
‘My môñèy o! My hard-earned môñèy. All gone! They have wiped it off o! I was a victim of pickpocketing two days ago. They stôłè my phone, môñèy and my ATM card..’, I was shouting and crying in the bank.
People had already gathered. Some were sympathizing with me while some were busy videoing me.
