π A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE TWO:
My uncle had stopped me from going to school. While my mates were in school, I would be on the farm working. On getting home very tired, I would still go to fetch water, cook and wash dishes before going out to hawk. At night, while others were sleeping, I would be washing clothes β that of my uncle and his wife and children. Do you know that I donβt sleep in the room? Yes. I was sleeping in the corridor. At night, I would spread a wrapper on the ground and sleep. The maltreatment I received from the hand of cold during the cool season was very severe. In the morning, my chest would swell up like bread met with the severe hotness of the oven amid baking. Mosquitoes would harvest me to their satisfaction every night. And when I became sick, they wouldnβt care. What I did was to go to our yoruba neighbor for herbal drinks. I donβt eat well despite the fact I was the person that did the cooking. Because my job was to cook while my Aunt or her daughter would serve the food. What I ate was mostly the leftovers.
My uncle had two grown up female children. They were good for nothing despite the fact that they were my senior in age. They don’t help out with anything in the house. They were just like daughter like mother.
MID NIGHT:
That night, the wind was blowing harshly against the windows of the house, and thunder rumbled angrily as it made way for the blue lightning that streaked the sky.
It wasn’t long before rain began to pelt down heavily, rattling against the zinc of the roof angrily.
The noises the rain made coupled with the booming sound of the thunder and the harsh coolness of the weather made me very uncomfortable. As such, I couldnβt sleep that night.
Moments later, I finally dozed off to sleep.
I was deep asleep when I felt a hand journeying romantically on my body. I thought it was a dream. Moments later, the hand made its way deep into my thighs. As I struggled to wake up, due to tiredness, the sleep was able to overpower my consciousness, holding me hostage. It was the moment the hand grabbed my b00bs, fumbling them, that I had to defile every odd and woke up from my slumber.
It wasnβt a dream.
Guess who?
It was my uncle.
He was on me half nΒ£kΒ£d. He had only pants on him. He wanted to force himself on me.
βUncle, what do you think you are doing?β, I screamed on top of my voice.
βCome on! Shut up! What do you think I am doing?β, he said amid tussle as he was trying to pin me to the ground.
βHelp! Help!! Help!!!β, I screamed. Just then it dawned on me that nobody else was at home except me and my uncle. I continued shouting while still struggling with him. Though nobody heard my cries and shouts because of the heavy downpour.
βUncle donβt do this to me, please. I am your daughter too..β, I was crying and pleading at the same time.
βYou are just a replica of your mother. And your mother refused me from having her despite how hard I tried. I offered her the whole world but she vowed that on no condition will I sleep with her. Instead, she allowed only that my stup|d brother to enjoy all those endorsements of hers without giving me a test. Anytime I look at you, all I see is her. Tonight, that which she denied me, I will have it through you,β he said.
I continued struggling. But at some point, I became weak. I couldnβt match his power anymore. He had successfully pinned me on the floor, used his knees against my legs while using a hand to hold my two hands above my head.
βUncle please, donβt do this to me. You are hurting me uncle..β, I pleaded in tears.
βWho is your uncle? You’re the one thatβs making the whole thing difficult for me and yourself. Allow me to have my way in peace but you refused..,β he hysterically said while tearing my clothes.
Just then, it was as if a strange spirit possessed me. I was full of strength. I pushed him off me. Immediately, I took to my heels. He got up and followed me at great speed. As I unlocked the entrance door to escape, I slept off and fell on the floor. He rushed and grabbed one of my legs. Luckily, I clutched my hand against one of the rods in the corridor that were used to support the weightness of the roofing. As he bent to disengage my hand from the rod, I stretched the other of my hand and behold, it was a big stone I laid my hand on. I lifted the stone and hit it on his forehead with all my strength. He fell on the ground screaming in pain and in his pool of blood.
I did not look back as I ran for my life. Where I was running to, under that heavy rainfall, I donβt even know. All I knew was I was running as fast as my legs could carry me.
Meanwhile my area was a flood zone. Because we were surrounded by canals. So whenever there was a heavy downpour, everywhere in our village would be flooded with water to the extent you wouldnβt differentiate between road and waterway. With the lack of a sufficient drainage system, at the peak of the rainy season, peoples houses would be flooded with water.
It was a race for my dear life I had that night. I wandered In darkness. I had no torchlight with me. All I wanted that night was to run far away where nobody would find me. Because I donβt think my uncle would make it alive that night. And nobody was at home to save him.
Amid the race, I mistakenly fell into a deep waterway. I tried as much as I could to clutch onto something to save myself from drowning but all my efforts were futile as I was swept off by the angry and speedy flood to an unknown destination.
