🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTEEN:
The conversation continued. Linda did all her possible best to convince me Into turning myself into a whôrè but I refused to heed to her advice.
I heard that Oga Emma embarked on a business trip to China . He traveled days after the fire incident. As a matter of fact, repairs were ongoing in the warehouse. It seemed like he would be stocking the warehouse back again.
It was the following Sunday that Oga Mba finally came back from the village with his family.
Few days later, we checked the stock and as well balanced the book. And It was a success.
Life then continued as if nothing happened.
A MONTH LATER:
Life was so good until Oga Emma came with his troubles.
He wanted to have me or his môñèy.
He called me on the phone on that fateful Saturday night.
‘..Omalicha, I think it’s time for us to complete our unfinished business’, he said.
‘Oga Emma, I don’t have any unfinished business with you,’ I replied.
‘What do you mean by that?’, he asked.
‘What I mean is that our business has finished,’ I replied.
‘How can our business come to an end whereas I didn’t get value for what I paid for? Because I only touched the gate of the promised land but I didn’t enter,’ he said.
‘Did I stop you from entering into the promiseland?,’ I had to ask.
‘Omalicha, please stop this game of yours and let’s face the reality here. You know what happened very well,’ he paused. ‘Omalicha, I love you so much. If it’s môñèy, don’t worry, you will never lack. All I want from you is your maximum cooperation. Omalicha you have to play along with me and enjoy yourself,’ he paused. ‘Let’s meet tomorrow..’
‘Meet at where?’, I asked.
‘At that hotel’, he replied.
‘To do what?’, I asked again.
‘To finish what we have started na’.
‘You and who?’.
‘You and me of course. Come and render the service I paid for?’.
‘As In what? Asháwô or what?’.
‘Whatever. All I care about is how to get value for my money’.
‘Oga, for your information, value or no value, our contract has expired. Secondly, the möñèy you gave me has served its purpose’.
‘You must be joking, right?’.
‘Oga Emma, I am not a comedian. So I am serious.’
‘That’s not possible,’ he paused. ‘Omalicha, don’t do this to me na. Look, oya come and I will add more money for you..’, he pleaded.
‘Mr man, I am not a prôśîśtûdè. You know very well that if not for the pressing situation I was in, you wouldn’t have even seen me on the same bed with you talkless of càrèśśîñg me,’ I sighed. ‘Opportunity they say, comes but once. You have missed the opportunity. Thank God for that. And you will never get such an opportunity again.’
‘Then refund my môñèy back,’ he yèłłèd.
‘Refund waiting? Like I said earlier, the môñèy has served its purpose. And our contract has finished. Thank you’, I said.
‘Look, you are too young to play such dîrtÿ games with me. You cannot eat my môñèy just like that and go scot free. Impossible! So if you know what’s good for you, it’s either you come and give me that thing or you refund my môñèy with immediate effect. Who told you I am running a charity organization? Be Careful..’, he threatened.
After all said, we ended the call that night. The conversation didn’t end well. Oga Emma thrèàtèñèd me so much that night. He ended up giving me three days to give him a positive response or I face his wràth.
The fact was that I don’t know what came over me to talk back at him with so much wisdom and confidence. But in truth, I became very much afraid. Because I don’t have the resources to match him. Secondly, I don’t have the môñèy to refund him back. And tabling my bôdy to him was a big No to me.
Meanwhile I have lied to my Aunt that I have resolved the shortage issue. That the mistake was from me and I have found where it came from and it has been corrected. She was very happy to hear that the hook had been cleared off my neck.
The Oga Emma problem was a big thorn in my flesh. To the extent I even thought of quitting my job so I wouldn’t be seeing him again because he kept disturbing me everyday after the elapsed of his three days deadline. He even thrèàtènèd to arrèst me with pölîćè. In fact, this man was making my life very mîsèràbłè.
Linda advised me against the idea of quitting my job because of Oga Emma. She encouraged me to ignore his empty thrèàts.
‘…why on earth would you even think of quitting your job because of Oga Emma? Look, those thrèàts are all empty ones. Shame wouldn’t allow him to bring the matter to the public. All he’s trying to do is to subject you under pressure so you would succumb to his lûśtful desire,’she paused. ‘Though I would advise you to milk him more. This is a very big opportunity for you to turn into a millionaire overnight. All it would cost you is just for you to be opening your legs for him and enrich yourself. But you don’t take advice all In the name of living a holy life,’ Linda said to me amid my confused state of mind that day.
So one fateful day, I was in a shop playing with my phone as there was no customer to attend to. I sighted some men marching into the shop. And at their back was Oga Emma with a very long face.
Fear immediately gripped me down to my marrow. My heart sank into my stomach.
‘God, please let it not be that my dream is about coming to pass..’, I was praying amid panic.
